The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1798: Chapter 1798: Call Me Aunt

Granny Feng saw the situation, and with a cheerful smile, she pulled everyone out of the room, leaving them alone to talk.

Shu Yu sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Granny Fang, who opened her eyes still a bit dazed, and spoke softly, ”Aunt?”

The completely different form of address caused Granny Fang’s body to tremble slightly. She slowly turned her head, saw Shu Yu, and her eyes began to redden again. She reached out her hand, trembling.

Shu Yu quickly grabbed it. Granny Fang tried to sit up, but her body lacked strength. Shu Yu supported her back, allowing her to lean against the bedhead.

Granny Fang examined Shu Yu’s features closely, ”You, what did you just call me? Was it correct?”

”How could it be wrong? My grandmother is Fang Caiyue, and she has a sister named Fang Caixia. My grandmother said she and her sister were very close when they were young. The family was separated due to a big flood, but she always missed her sister, not knowing where she was or if she was well.”

Granny Fang’s tears fell like raindrops, covering her mouth as she cried silently, ”I miss her too, I miss her so much. Could you call me that one more time?”

Shu Yu, ”Aunt.”

”Ah, ah, ah,” Granny Fang nodded quickly, as if responding too late would make everything disappear again.

She held Shu Yu’s hand tighter, wanting to speak but unable to amidst her sobs.

Shu Yu feared she would faint again due to excessive emotion, so she gently patted her back, ”Aunt, everything will be alright.”

”Yes, everything will be alright. I never thought I would see my sister again in my lifetime. Is she well? Is her husband still strong? Besides your father and Eldest Uncle, are there any other children?”

Shu Yu paused for a moment before replying, ”My grandfather passed away eight years ago. My grandmother... is doing well now.” Although she faced hardships in the past.

Granny Fang froze, realizing her brother-in-law had already died.

She lowered her head, her heart bitter, ”What about my parents?”

”They passed away gradually over the fourth year following the water disaster.”

This time, Granny Fang cried silently for a long moment before biting her lip and saying, ”The fourth year, the fourth year—if Chen Bing hadn’t deceived me back then, I could have seen them one last time. Why did I believe his words? How could I be so foolish?”

Shu Yu comforted her, ”It’s not your fault. Who could have expected the authorities’ death certificate to be fake? You were also not in good health at the time.”

Even if Granny Fang chose not to believe, insisting on going back, Chen Bing would certainly have used other excuses to delay her.

Back then, she had fallen seriously ill, learning that she could never have children. Then came the news of her parents and relatives’ deaths, followed by Chen Bing’s betrayal and his deceitful actions.

Such a barrage of blows, one after another—who could bear it?

Seeing Granny Fang still filled with regret, Shu Yu could only silently sigh. These were things she didn’t want to reveal so early, but since Granny Fang had asked, she couldn’t deceive her.

Shu Yu could only change the subject to family matters to distract her attention, ”By the way, apart from Eldest Uncle and my father, there are Third Uncle and Fourth Aunt at home. Everyone else is well, except Third Uncle always causing trouble. My grandmother gets angry whenever she mentions him. She hoped he would marry someone who could keep him in check, but it turns out they are both alike. My grandmother often threatens them with a big stick... We have four siblings in the family. I’m the second child...”
