The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1764: Chapter 1764: It Depends on Ms. Tao’s Choice

The face of the Zhang Clan turned pale. Yes, in the moment of desperation that day, Tao Feili indeed used Meng Kuan as a shield.

She was aware of this, but what she didn’t know was that the rescue by the senior of the family years ago was actually pre-planned. Otherwise, how could she dare to shout and attempt to force Meng Kuan to come out by relying on the life-saving favor of the family senior?

She thought that although Tao Feili had betrayed Meng Kuan, he returned safely after all. Which means it’s all fine; the life-saving favor from the family senior should always be able to offset it, right?

Who would have thought, that the life-saving favor was diluted with so much water.

At this moment, the Zhang Clan couldn’t utter a single word, especially facing the stares from the crowd, she wished she could just hide.

With a swift step forward, Meng Han said, ”Uncle betrayed my father, Tao Qin insisted on saving Jiang Kuanyu, causing my father to be captured. And now you dare to come over and demand that my father repay the life-saving favor. How thick-skinned you are! Where did my father do you wrong to be harmed so badly by you?”

Uncle Meng called her, ”Ah Han, there’s no need to say more to them.”

Meng Han gritted her teeth, feeling extremely unwilling internally, glared at the Zhang Clan for quite a while, then went back to the room.

Uncle Meng raised his head and looked at Ms. Tao, ”Before your father’s death, he told your brother that the Meng family has the Xuanyuan Sword. On that night he disclosed this to the mountain bandits. Mountain bandits, unlike your father, cared a lot about the Xuanyuan Sword. So when Jiang Kuanyu learned the exact information from Tao Feili, he came to the Meng family looking for me.”

Jiang Kuanyu and his group were rebels. Now, suddenly emerging was this legendary divine weapon; if they obtained it, it would be a great aid for the Second Prince and his group.

Jiang Kuanyu hadn’t revealed this information to others. His status in the black market wasn’t high, so he was eager to prove himself through achievements.

”Jiang Kuanyu tormented me, eager to find the whereabouts of the Xuanyuan Sword. But he didn’t know that the Xuanyuan Sword had been missing for over ten years.”

Meng Pei interjected from the side, ”That’s right, the Xuanyuan Sword was in my possession back then. Over ten years ago, I was pursued, and I was holding the Xuanyuan Sword. Later, when I was severely injured and unconscious, the Xuanyuan Sword disappeared.”

Over ten years ago? Isn’t that when Gong Qiu sent people to assassinate Meng Pei?

Shu Yu glanced at Meng Pei, always feeling this statement was quite strange. Since the Xuanyuan Sword was a treasure, and was very important to the Meng family, why would Meng Pei carry it with him on his missions, when the sword itself was very heavy?

Uncle Meng said, ”That’s the way things went, Cuiniang, I’m clearly telling you. I won’t be involved with the Tao Family anymore. From now on, I’ll treat it as if we don’t have any relation with the Tao Family. You are my wife. Though you’ve done plenty of unclear things over the years, I rarely intervened, and have some responsibility as well. So I won’t implicate you in the Tao Family’s wrongdoing. But if you continue to associate with the Tao Family, then... we’ll separate.”

Ms. Tao suddenly raised her head, staring at him incredulously, ”You, you want to separate from me?”

”No, it’s not that I want to, but it’s up to whether or not you want to. It depends on your choice.”

Uncle Meng actually didn’t want to separate, not just because of the issues between him and Ms. Tao themselves, but also because of the children; he couldn’t possibly disregard them.

Meng Qi is already of marriageable age. If the parents separate, it will greatly affect his reputation. Families who care even a little about propriety probably wouldn’t choose the Meng family.

This is just about Meng Qi. Meng Han is a girl, and it’ll be even worse for her. In the future when she marries, the in-laws might even use this point to restrain her.
