The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1769: Chapter 1769: Husband and Wife Talk

In just two or three days without seeing her, Ms. Tao seemed to have lost weight all over, her complexion was terrible, and she looked completely dispirited and lifeless.

”Ah Han, take me to see your father,” Ms. Tao spoke hoarsely and weakly.

Meng Han frowned, ”Mother, your health...”

”It’s okay, I’ve taken the medicine, and I’m much better now. Once we arrive at the clinic, I can have Doctor Mi take a look. If there’s nothing serious, I’ll stay there and take care of your father. He’s so badly injured, what kind of wife would I be to stay at home hiding while he’s suffering?”

”Father has someone to care for him, Mother, you’re not feeling well, better not go.”

Ms. Tao shook her head, ”Let’s go, I have things to discuss with your father.”

Seeing it had come to this, Meng Han couldn’t refuse any further.

Ms. Tao had just been ill, and the weather in November was very cold, so Meng Han hurriedly brought out the carriage.

Shu Yu went with them, and unexpectedly, Ms. Tao was in good spirits towards her, no longer speaking cryptically, even smiling at her as they sat opposite.

It seemed that this whole incident had deeply affected her, changing Ms. Tao drastically.

The three quickly arrived at the entrance of Mi Family clinic, and Doctor Mi had already reopened the clinic, with the original doctor and pharmacist starting work again.

Uncle Meng was now resting in a room in the back yard, accompanied by the attendant he had brought earlier.

Shu Yu first greeted Doctor Mi before they headed to the back yard.

Uncle Meng was drinking medicine, a large bowl of dark, bitter potion, and Shu Yu could smell it from the doorway.

Ms. Tao had been taking medicine these days too, so as soon as she smelled it, she felt bitterness in her mouth and her eyes started to ache.

She walked inside, and Uncle Meng looked up, signaled the attendant to take away the empty bowl, then nodded at Shu Yu and turned to Ms. Tao, ”I heard from Ah Qi that you’ve been sick these days?”

”Yes, the doctor said excessive worry and emotional fluctuation,” Ms. Tao walked to his side and naturally took out a handkerchief to wipe the medicine from his lips, then picked up a cup from the table, poured tea, and fed him, ”Drink some water to ease the bitterness.”

Uncle Meng was silent for a moment, hesitated briefly, then lowered his head to drink a couple of sips.

Then he said, ”You don’t need to worry too much. Things have come to this, and life must go on. No matter what choices you make, some relationships for you won’t change.”

His tone was much gentler than the other day, and Ms. Tao suddenly felt a sourness in her nose, her eyes reddening.

She nodded, sniffed, ”I know, I’ve been thinking these days, that for so many years it seems I’ve been living worse and worse. My brother died, my children aren’t close to me, and my husband is at the point of wanting to separate from me. Why is it like this? Later, I gradually realized that maybe I never found my own position.”

Her words carried weight and depth, even Shu Yu was somewhat surprised, not expecting Ms. Tao to ponder so deeply on the matter.

Uncle Meng and Meng Han were also quite surprised.

Seeing their faces showing shocked expressions, Ms. Tao couldn’t help but smile bitterly, ”We’ve been married for almost twenty years. It’s long been two separate families from my maternal home. Now, the closest people to me should be you, Ah Qi, and Ah Han. Previously, Ah Han always said she didn’t know whose mother I was, her birth mother yet always siding with Tao Qin. At the time, I thought she was being unreasonable, but now I realize where I truly went wrong.”
