The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1785: Chapter 1785: Her Life Was Too Bitter

The old lady nodded and sighed, “Yes, in those first two years when she just came to Changjin Prefecture, she really went through a lot of hardships. My Sister Fang, her fate is too bitter.”

Shu Yu pressed her lips tightly, listening quietly.

According to Old Mrs. Guan, after she fled Dongan Province to escape disaster, she met Granny Fang on the way. At that time, Granny Fang had already lost contact with her family, and it was just her and her husband traveling together. Meanwhile, all the close ones of Old Mrs. Guan perished in the flood, leaving only her father and a younger brother by her side.

Both families were essentially traveling alone, so they decided to accompany each other and journeyed together.

Later, they arrived in Changjin Prefecture, where the area hadn’t been ravaged by the flood, and most of the refugees hadn’t traveled this far.

After some consideration, they decided to temporarily settle down here.

However, the situation was different for Old Mrs. Guan and Granny Fang. Granny Fang hoped that if her hometown was safe, she would not go to the North. She still wanted to return since she was only separated from her parents and sister. If she went back, maybe they could reunite.

But Old Mrs. Guan’s father and brother wanted to go to the North to rely on relatives. However, on their journey, they exhausted all their money. In the end, her father and brother wanted to marry Old Mrs. Guan off to collect some betrothal money for travel expenses.

Old Mrs. Guan wasn’t surprised by this; she knew well as they fled from disaster that if they reached the end of their resources, she would be the first to be sacrificed.

However, she still tried her best to choose her husband on her own, who is now Old Master Guan.

After her marriage, her father and brother continued their journey to the North, and they never saw each other again.

Fortunately, Old Master Guan was kind to her, and although life was tough for Old Mrs. Guan, it was still relatively stable.

Saying this, the old lady couldn’t help but laugh, as she was quite content with her life. After all, if it weren’t for the disaster, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to choose her husband.

At least she had chosen well; the old man had treated her well all these years.

Compared to Sister Fang, she was relatively lucky.

“When I got married, it was all very rushed. My father and brother were eager to leave, and the Guan Family didn’t have much money, so my wedding preparations only took two days. But in those two days, Sister Fang saved a person.”

A person of high status.

Whether it was good or bad luck for Granny Fang, a young lady fell into the water, and Granny Fang happened to be nearby. She jumped right in and rescued the young lady.

However, the weather was already very cold at that time. After rescuing the lady, the servants of the Fang Family hurriedly carried the young lady away to see a doctor. Granny Fang was left behind and didn’t recover for a while.

She didn’t go to a clinic; she didn’t have any money at that time, so there was no way she could afford to see a doctor.

So, she went home and made some ginger tea, thinking nothing was wrong when she experienced no discomfort.

Fortunately, the young lady she rescued was very grateful. After recovering, she immediately sought out Granny Fang to repay her.

The young lady was the daughter of a sixth-rank official. She wasn’t a local, but her uncle had a shop here and had come to inspect it. She had insisted on coming along to check out the excitement. Unexpectedly, she got separated from her servants and fell into the water, but luckily met Granny Fang.

The young lady, being innocent and romantic, insisted on repaying her savior.

Knowing that Granny Fang was an escapee without money, she gave her a large sum of money.
