The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1789: Chapter 1789: Are You Really Just a Fellow Townsperson?

Shu Yu suddenly remembered what Yuan Gui said about him falling off a cliff and being rescued by Granny Fang, and later being healed by the village doctor, without ever seeking a doctor in the county town.

It seems the doctors in Hedeng Village are indeed extraordinary.

Shu Yu took a deep breath, ”And what about Chen Bing?”

Old Mrs. Guan said, ”Heaven doesn’t have eyes, didn’t let the wicked receive retribution. After he got married, he had two children, a son and a daughter, enjoying the money Miss Fang exchanged with her life for a happy family. But ultimately, he’s not cut out for running a shop, over the years I’ve observed, some profits some losses, nothing significant achieved.”

Chen Bing does have ambition, but his abilities don’t match, and his vision is lacking.

He tried other businesses, but all ended in losses.

Years ago, it seems he owed quite a bit of money and eventually sought help from his in-laws, barely covering it.

But since then, Chen Bing has had little contact with his in-laws.

Shu Yu sneered, ”If he had foresight, he wouldn’t have abandoned his wife, cutting off his own future.”

If he had treated Granny Fang well back then, hadn’t continually asked for money from that young lady’s uncle’s shop, even relying on a bit of this relationship, being diligent and sincere, he wouldn’t be in this miserable state after thirty years.

Old Mrs. Guan agreed.

”Where does Chen Bing live now?” Shu Yu asked.

Old Mrs. Guan was startled, lifted her head to see Shu Yu with tightly pursed lips, and softly asked, ”Miss, are you planning to find Chen Bing... to avenge Granny Fang? You’re out of luck, I heard he left the city with his wife and children for his in-laws the day before the mountain bandits broke into Chenggu County.”

Because of the connection with Granny Fang, Old Mrs. Guan couldn’t help but pay attention to the Chen Family, not saying she completely understood Chen Bing’s whereabouts, but remembered when she heard.

”Went to the prefecture?”

”Yes, Chen Bing’s daughter reached marriageable age, and after picking and choosing in the county town, they couldn’t find a suitable match, watching the young girl age. So now they shamelessly went looking for his father-in-law again, hoping to find a match in the prefecture.”

Chen Bing and the old lady at home are the same generation, logically, his grandchildren should be Shu Yu’s age.

But in the first two years after marrying Granny Fang, there were disasters and divorce delays with no children.

A year later, he got engaged again, another year passed before the wedding.

Once married, no children came for seven, eight years before having the first son, who is a year younger than Third Lu.

It took several more years to have the second daughter, now fifteen, turning sixteen after the new year.

Shu Yu furrowed her brows, Chen Bing being in the prefecture complicates finding him. Especially now with the chaos in the prefecture, Old Mrs. Guan doesn’t know the address of his in-laws.

”Lady Lu, Lady Lu?” Old Mrs. Guan saw her silent, feeling uneasy.

Shu Yu regained her composure, smiling at her, ”I have a good understanding of Granny Fang’s situation now. Thank you, Granny Guan, it’s getting late, I should take my leave.”

Shu Yu stood up, and Old Mrs. Guan quickly followed suit.

Watching Shu Yu walk away, she couldn’t hold back, nervously asking, ”Lady Lu, are you really just fellow townsfolk with Sister Fang?”

Shu Yu paused, surprised by Old Mrs. Guan’s keen perception.

She smiled, not answering the question, only saying, ”I will visit again another day, thank you for caring for her in those years.”
