The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1767: Chapter 1767: Not Hiding It, Giving It Away

Shu Yu laughed, ”But Uncle Meng looks quite pleased.”

Meng Pei chuckled, ”Of course, your little uncle’s nature is, to put it bluntly, foolish; he doesn’t know how to think things through. But put another way, it means he’s loyal and righteous. Isn’t someone like that particularly reassuring?”

As he spoke, he was quite proud.

Shu Yu, ”...”

She couldn’t help shaking her head, smiling as she accompanied Meng Pei outside. Seeing the people ahead had walked far away, she quietly asked, ”Uncle Meng, that Xuanyuan Sword, is it really...?”

Meng Pei replied softly as well, ”The Xuanyuan Sword is kept at Quansheng Escort Agency in Tianning County.”

However, upon hearing this, Shu Yu’s steps suddenly halted.

Quansheng Escort Agency in Tianning County, isn’t that where Meng Pei and Song Xin stayed for ten years? Later, Song Xin died there, and the agency was half-burned by people sent by Gong Qiu.

Wait a moment...

Shu Yu suddenly thought of something. She looked up at Meng Pei, furrowed her brow, and pondered, ”Uncle Meng, do you remember when we returned to Tianning County and met Uncle Yan?”

”What’s the matter?”

”At that time, we just entered and saw that the scoundrels, led by Three Rascals, were about to carry the fever-ridden unconscious Uncle Yan out, and we caught them red-handed. Three Rascals confessed that someone had paid them to do this, with the intent to seize Quansheng Escort Agency. Later, we waited at the agreed meeting spot as Three Rascals said, but we never saw the person who paid them.”

Meng Pei recalled, ”You mean...”

”Previously, I couldn’t figure out why the person behind bribing Three Rascals would suddenly want Quansheng Escort Agency for no apparent reason? The place had already been mostly burned down; there wasn’t anything left. Now after hearing what you said about the Xuanyuan Sword inside, could it be they were after that sword?”

Meng Pei was taken aback, nodding thoughtfully, ”You’re right, Quansheng Escort Agency indeed has nothing left. Especially after all these years, Gong Qiu had long sent people to search it inside and out. But the sword is well hidden by me, if the person really knew about the Xuanyuan Sword, then after acquiring the agency they could slowly search for it. It’s not impossible.”

But obviously, they didn’t expect that Gong Qiu is dead, yet Meng Pei remains alive.

Quansheng Escort Agency has already been renovated. Although Meng Pei and his son don’t live there, the place has an owner. Meng Yunzheng is already a Scholar, so it’s not easy for anyone to take it over.

Meng Pei tightened his lips, and after a while, said, ”Looks like once things are settled here, I need to return to Tianning County and retrieve that sword.”

”Where do you plan to hide the sword after retrieving it, Uncle Meng?”

Meng Pei snorted coldly, ”I won’t hide it, I’ll give it away.”

Shu Yu, ”...” Huh?

”Many already know about the Meng family possessing the Xuanyuan Sword despite me just saying that it was lost. Some believe it, but many do not. Your little uncle already suffered greatly because of this. I don’t want my family to encounter any trouble because of it anymore.”

Shu Yu laughed, ”You’re willing, Uncle Meng?”

”What’s there to be unwilling about? The sword is indeed a fine blade, but you can’t show it around, and it’s quite heavy. Nobody but a Strongman can wield it, so it ends up being hidden all the time. We have to constantly worry about its reputation; why bother?”
