The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1779: Chapter 1779: Catching Up to Yuan Gui and His Companion

Shu Yu asked, ”When did she leave?”

”She packed her bags and left early in the morning, Yuan Gui went with her.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Got it, thanks for letting me know.”

She brought Ying Xi out of the county office and returned to the escort agency, then instructed Ying Xi to prepare the carriage to directly head to Granny Fang’s village for a visit.

She thought to herself that she originally intended to inquire about Granny Fang’s situation from the villagers, and now that she had the time, it was a good opportunity to go and see.

After greeting Meng Pei, Shu Yu and Ying Xi headed straight for the city gate.

Although the city gate was open, very few people were leaving, as everyone was still somewhat worried, fearing that there might be lone mountain bandits roaming outside the city.

Only those like Granny Fang who were unexpectedly trapped in the city and had their home outside would be eager to leave as soon as the gate opened.

Thus, Shu Yu and Ying Xi drove the carriage out of the city gate and didn’t see a single person on the official road for quite a distance.

Not only were the people in the city afraid to come out, but the people outside the city were also not venturing forth.

Shu Yu had inquired from Yuan Gui that Granny Fang’s village was about fifteen miles away. It was still quite far on foot, taking at least more than an hour.

However, since Granny Fang and her group left early, they should have reached there by now.

Thinking of this, Shu Yu couldn’t help but quicken her pace.

Unexpectedly, when they were halfway, they saw two figures hurrying ahead.

A male and a female, one old, one young, their backs... looked unusually familiar.

Ying Xi also recognized them, ”It’s Granny Fang and Yuan Gui. Strange, how come they’ve only made it here?”

Hearing the hoofbeats from behind, Yuan Gui didn’t have time to look back and quickly helped Granny Fang to the side of the road to make way for the people behind.

Unexpectedly, the carriage behind them slowed down and even came to a slow stop beside them.

Yuan Gui looked up and was stunned to see Shu Yu, ”Monarch Lu Xiang?”

Granny Fang also looked up, surprised to see Shu Yu. Upon hearing Yuan Gui’s address, she was even more puzzled and held his hand tightly, ”What, what did you just call Lady Lu?”

Yuan Gui was stunned, and Shu Yu blinked.

The two exchanged a glance, suddenly realizing that they had never mentioned her identity in front of Granny Fang before.

Initially, when Meng Qi introduced her to Doctor Mi and Granny Fang, she was called Lady Lu.

Later, when Shu Yu spoke with Yuan Gui, it was always when Granny Fang was not around.

After that, Granny Fang went to the county office, and they hadn’t met since.

Yuan Gui quickly explained to Granny Fang, ”This is Lady Lu, who was granted the title of Village Chief by the late emperor. The heating pack I told you about was invented by Monarch Lu Xiang, and she received her title through her own talent.”

Tal...ent?

Shu Yu’s mouth twitched, but it seemed right to say so; she indeed was full of talent.

Upon hearing this, Granny Fang finally understood. Her gaze towards Shu Yu was filled with admiration. Previously, she might have felt a bit reserved when meeting someone of such stature, but after working at the county office for several days and having met Xia Yi and the Deputy General, Granny Fang was much calmer.

Still, she spoke with some nervousness, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, I was quite rude before, please don’t hold it against me.”

”Granny Fang, there’s no need to be so polite. Didn’t we make cakes and cook together? We’ve fought side by side, just treat me like the junior I am.”

Granny Fang wanted to be courteous, but Yuan Gui spoke first, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, where are you headed?”
