My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1899: Chapter 1694: Torment

No one can have smooth sailing; everyone walks with difficulty, living every day as if in hellish torment.

”Xiao Wei, whether brother-in-law truly loves sister, that’s something we cannot ask or control; after all, it’s a matter between them as a couple. As outsiders, what we can do is protect our own family from harm. If, because of us, our family repeatedly suffers hurt and pain, then why are we treating them like this?

Some things originally don’t need to be complicated. If our meddling makes everything overly complex, do you think that’s good for us? Or, conversely, is it a source of happiness and joy for them?

Actually, you should know, some things shouldn’t be interfered with.

There’s a possibility that things weren’t that painful for her, but our involvement could make them very sad and distressed. We’re not helping them; we’re harming them. We all hope our loved ones can live happily, joyfully; that’s what’s most important to us. We shouldn’t let our personal interests cause our family to suffer pain and hurt!

Xiao Wei, sometimes even I am unsure who loves whom more. Perhaps their desired life isn’t like that, but the life I want is really very simple. I don’t want my life to be so complicated and full of pain.

You have watched how sister led her life; if our lives are to be the same as hers, then why would we choose such an ending?”

”No matter what sister thinks, I don’t care how many obstacles her life will have or whether she will be happy; what I want is for her to be happy and joyful right now. If she can’t even have happiness and joy now, how can she continue to be happy in life?

You know what kind of person brother-in-law is, don’t you? Even if he truly loves sister, can he go against his elderly father again and again, oppose his family time and again for his wife? Can he really toss aside his entire family’s interests as casually as before? I bet he can’t now because he knows what he truly wants; he won’t abandon his father, his son, or the whole family for his wife anymore.

If he abandons his family and father again for his wife, how do you think Old Master Zhang will feel deep inside? How could he forgive his son? Their homecoming was already difficult; they’ve humbled themselves to beg, but if another mistake leads them to leave home entirely, wouldn’t his efforts be in vain?

No one would accept such a situation willingly, no one willingly lets their efforts go to waste, with nothing in return.”

Xiao Wei felt he should call his brother-in-law and ask him honestly about sister’s current state, but just as his wife said, some things are not for a brother to interfere in as it would only put sister in a dilemma, torn between her brother, her family, and her husband. Wouldn’t this make her vulnerable from all sides?

But not asking would show indifference to sister’s life, wouldn’t that make her feel worse inside? As a brother, how can he handle this so that it works for everyone? Does he have to be the bad guy, taking all the blame, letting everyone vent their anger on him? Is that the best outcome for them?

He truly doesn’t want to bear the pain he’s faced before again, but he can’t stay unaffected here. Why is getting what he wants so difficult? Why does the world oppose him? Why does everything he desires end up eluding him, forcing him to defy the heavens? Won’t the heavens punish him if he does? All he wants is the happiness and well-being of his family, so what do his efforts keep yielding?

”Xiao Wei, I don’t care what others think or how your heart feels. Still, I must clarify some things: everyone’s attitude towards matters differs, leading to different results. Outcomes are predetermined; you shouldn’t think about changing them; no one can alter a conclusion set by the heavens!

Don’t even think about calling Zhang Zhentian to ask if he loves your sister. Such questions are meaningless and will only make your brother-in-law suspect your sister has confided in you, causing discord between them, and turning you into the villain.

Let’s focus on doing what we should do and protecting those we wish to protect without indulging in unrealistic dreams. Those dreams aren’t ours; no matter how innocent or perfect they are, others will always blame you for causing family discord and ruin.

Everyone is selfish; when it involves personal matters, nobody cares about their relatives. Those bonds, again and again, teach that the things one believes in may mean nothing in the end. Even if you value them, will they sincerely be grateful deep down?

It’s fortunate if they don’t repay kindness with enmity; why dream of sharing happiness and joy with them?

You may find my words unnecessary or unpleasant, but this must be said; otherwise, you’ll be the one who suffers later!”

Who isn’t stumbling along, supporting their life? Who isn’t struggling to pursue their dreams?

If others haven’t given up, why should you?
