My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1868: Chapter 1662: Perseverance

I always believed that no matter what I encountered, as long as I persisted without giving up, I would gain the desired result. Gradually, I discovered that most things turned out to be contrary to my imagination.

At this moment, Zhang Yichen suddenly felt his father was so foolish and naive. Even if they could be together, so what? Even if he followed his mother to the ends of the earth, so what? Everything in life is just controlled by destiny. No one can master their destiny. Step by step, who knows what choice you will face next and what road you will take? Who can know in advance whether that road leads to ruin or somewhere else?

Suddenly, he saw his father’s foolish look, and he felt a bit pitiful. How afraid he was for the day when his mother would choose to leave his father; wouldn’t he collapse alone? Not only would he lose his family, but also the wife he loved most. How cruel it would be for him?

She only hoped her parents could love each other forever. Even if her parents were unwilling to stay home, even if she had said such harsh words today, they still chose to leave, she would be helpless. As long as they could be happy and remember having her as their son and their father as grandpa, that would be perfect for her. He would not make excessive demands as before, for the end of such demands would only lead things to backfire. They might even result in him being completely separated from his parents, who might never return to this home. But if they were willing to stay, how excited, thrilled, and grateful he would be for this gift granted by the heavens.

Xia Jing saw hope in her son’s eyes but really didn’t know how to persuade him. Some decisions made by her husband had become a foregone conclusion, and she had no right or means to change it. Perhaps one day when the time slowly matured, they would all understand a truth: family affection is priceless.

”My dear parents, perhaps neither of you can understand deep inside your hearts. Do you know? When everything continues to change and undergo many trials, each person’s future path will be different and keep changing. No one knows what the eventual outcome will be.

I sincerely wish to keep you here at home, but if your hearts are not in this place, even if I ask you to stay, you won’t feel happy or joyful. You’ll just see it as a cage, imprisoning your freedom and restricting you here, unable to soar. At that moment, you would resent me. But perhaps, for having done so, inwardly, I would be happy, at least knowing you were here, where I could see my parents at any moment. That feeling of happiness is indescribable in words. I’ve lived alone and endured all sorts of hardships all these years, never afraid, for fear is not a reason to retreat or a way to escape. Only by bravely confronting, sending myself into battle again and again, turning myself into an undefeatable being, can I become strong enough to evoke awe in others.

No one knows how miserable and unhappy I have been all these years, living strongly on my own. My only belief is to wait for the day my parents will feel regret for abandoning me at the beginning because that day I will truly have achieved my goal. I anticipate everything for myself again and again, transforming into a devil time and again, just wanting not much. As long as I can be happy, what does it matter if I lose something? But now, thinking about it, if my happiness and joy cause you to lose freedom and joyful smiles, it’s a kind of heartbreaking pain for me and a profound blow for you.

I don’t want to say more to you. I just want you to think carefully when making decisions. If you’re still entangled, please look back at your gray-haired father, my grandpa, who has waited so many years, nurturing me with his life, giving all his love to me. Don’t you know how much he loves you? Isn’t this too selfish of you, placing your father in such a position, putting the entire family and me, as your son, in such a position? You haven’t placed familial love and care within this family; you’re just wanting your own happiness, overlooking the greatest hope of this family.

A family should be united. You know better than anyone how difficult it is to establish a family, how hard it is to earn a century of reputation for one. Why don’t you consider if your actions might harm your father and family? Persistently doing things your way, what result can you achieve?

Everything I said today comes from my heart. If I were you, seeing my gray-haired father with pleading eyes, I couldn’t bear it. Seeing him concentrate all his love on his grandson, at that moment, I would feel touched within, as it’s the love from one’s father extending to their children. But you wouldn’t think so, being too cold-blooded and ruthless, soulless, and inhuman at heart.

Seeing all the families happily reuniting while my parents are absent leaves me disappointed. But I know it’s my parents’ choice. When we gather here, they wander in a foreign land. Their hearts are more sorrowful than ours. Yet, I can’t bear to see grandpa’s disappointed gaze, feeling so desolate without his son and daughter-in-law back home for a reunion dinner. Do you know what that means for an elderly person? It means you haven’t regarded him as a father. How disappointed he is!

Can you consider more about your grandpa, already with a head full of white hair?”

I knew in the end this would be the result, but I still chose this way...
