My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1892: Chapter 1687: Destined

In the unseen realm, everything seems predestined, unbeknownst to which vows have been swept away.

Zhang Yichen understood what his father meant. ”Right now, I just want my grandfather to live happily.” His grandfather faced countless blows and endless pain throughout his life, making it almost impossible for him to live joyously. As long as his grandfather could be happy while living, what else mattered to him?

He could disregard everything in the world, but he could never abandon his grandfather. It was his grandfather who gave him the happiest life, who molded him into what he is today. His grandfather raised him step by step, allowing him to reach the pinnacle of life, living a life of everlasting happiness and joy.

In his life, he had never sincerely thanked anyone, even those who offered him the greatest help in his career. The person he was most grateful for was his grandfather; it was his grandfather who granted him the life he had. His grandfather ensured he lived a life of abundance, security, and peace, reaching the peak of life. All his successes were solely due to his grandfather’s cultivation and support. Without his grandfather, how could he have achieved what he did? How could he have gained such attention?

He originally had no intention of forgiving his father. But to bring joy and happiness to his grandfather’s life, he decided to forgive his parents. Perhaps only this resolution could allow his grandfather to live happily. In his life, he never did anything truly comforting for his grandfather. Perhaps such actions would also hurt his grandfather, but if he could do something small to cheer his grandfather up, he would do it wholeheartedly.

Zhang Zhentian saw his son deep in thought, and he knew what his son was contemplating. Perhaps he truly had been too demanding. How could one easily forgive after more than twenty years of abandonment, let alone a genuine forgiveness? If that’s the case, what was the meaning of abandonment? All the past hurts were inflicted by his own hands, subjecting his child to hardships. What right did he have to blame them? Wouldn’t it be better to let them stay happily with their grandfather, allowing him a life of security?

In this life, he had never made any mistakes nor wronged anyone, except for his father, his son, and his family. A once happy and peaceful family was shattered by his resolve and departure, prioritizing freedom over the family’s welfare, leaving the family in ruins. He inflicted grief on his father and subjected his son to ridicule, never fulfilling his paternal responsibilities. Ultimately, the ones he owed the most were his family. If only time could turn back, he would never have made such a decision, causing unspeakable anguish to his family without any means of redemption. How deeply he detested his own actions.

”I know what both of you are thinking. You wish for our heartfelt forgiveness so you can return home and accompany grandfather. For me, this isn’t a difficult task. As long as you stay with grandfather peacefully, without bickering or leaving impulsively in search of freedom, your previous behavior was selfish. Such actions earn no respect. You abandoned your family and the clan’s interests, seeking only personal gains. No one will ever regard you highly for that!

Grandfather endured too much pain in his life. If you truly view him as your own father, then please treat him kindly. Don’t let him grieve. Repeated abandonments ravaged his heart, leaving him crying in his room yet putting on a brave front for us. Do you know how much anguish this causes grandfather—crying alone but smiling before us to encourage us to live happily? He is selfless and loving, unlike your deeds. Why must you live so selfishly?”

”Children, I’m sorry. Our abandonments caused you harm. Our discord and actions inflicted emotional scars, making everything awkward.”

”No matter what you say, we’ve already forgiven and let you return home. Just stay by grandfather’s side, make him happy, let him enjoy his later years. Nothing else matters to me. I would do anything for my grandfather without principle, for everything I have was granted by him. For you, I could not, for you never stayed with me nor showed any care, only leaving indelible pain in my heart. Yet, I still tell you—I’ve forgiven you, genuinely, for grandfather’s happiness.”

Maybe my words hurt you, but I hope you understand my reasons. Your actions tore our family apart, and I hope your return restores our family’s happiness once again...”

Even if separated by horizons, I believe someone will eventually recognize my true feelings for you!
