My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1866: Chapter 1660: Heavy Snow

Reflecting on everything I once went through, I only thought of keeping happiness and comfort for myself, but forgot that you need it too!

Zhang Yichen has been talking here all along. He hasn’t considered his wife; he always thought his wife should be very understanding. Yet, during this period, he hasn’t heard his wife communicate anything with him. He can’t understand what’s going on in his wife’s heart; perhaps he feels there’s nothing to say between them!

But she remembers that her former self would never be like today. What’s happened today? Ever since the day his parents returned, he hasn’t said anything extra to her.

Could it be that deep down in his wife’s heart, she no longer wants to say anything more to him? Or does speaking even one more word with him feel like torture for her? Over the years, he hasn’t treated her unfairly, always wholeheartedly giving her what he considered best, sacrificing a lot for her. So why has the situation turned out this way? Why won’t she say even one word to him?

Zhang Zhentian seems to have also noticed the abnormality in his daughter-in-law, always considering her to be an understanding person. He thought no matter what, she should interact with him as a father. Yet, since returning to this home, she hasn’t spoken to him; if so, it’s just a few words of lukewarm concern, nothing more.

”Zhi Han, what’s wrong? Why haven’t you spoken to me all along? Is it something I did that upset you? You know Dad and Mom have just returned—I also want this family to live stably and happily, without any conflicts between us. I don’t want us to have any more disputes. This look of yours is hard for me to understand; what’s the reason why you seem indifferent to me as your husband?”

”Yichen, I know you hope for your parents to return; I want the same. I know your heart deeply desires your parents’ love, even a little would make you incredibly happy because you’ve lacked so much maternal love over the years!

I share the same sentiment as you. I can forgive their years of absence from your side. But I truly can’t be indifferent, having witnessed your suffering firsthand. I met you deep in the mountains; you stood, covered in blood before me, your body full of wounds, yet you didn’t cry, still smiling at me bravely!

At that moment, all I felt was that this boy was so smart and strong. Why is he so emaciated from injury, bleeding everywhere, yet still not crying? At that time, I stood behind you for a long time, hoping your parents would come soon. I naively thought you had quarreled with your parents and accidentally got left in that valley, thinking they’d soon come for you. But your answer ultimately disappointed me!

You told me you were training in those mountains, and your parents weren’t by your side. That moment, I felt sorrow for you. Why do other kids have parents willing to stay by them, yet yours chose to be far away?

You know my parents were always poor—they couldn’t even afford my schooling. But do you know? Even so, they never thought of abandoning me. No matter what, they chose to keep me with them because, in their hearts, I am their child, an inseparable bond of family. But what about you? What have you truly gained over the years? You’ve gained nothing. You don’t even know your parents’ whereabouts, blindly subjecting yourself to one round of devilish training after another to numb yourself!

You think as long as you don’t dwell on these things, they won’t exist. But you forget some things can’t be forgotten, repeatedly engraved in your mind. No matter how much you’ve thought about forgetting or letting go, can you truly let it all go? Can you truly live as if your parents never abandoned you? You can’t because deep down, you still remember it; it can’t be forgotten in a lifetime.

I’m saying this not with other motives but because your easy forgiveness makes me uneasy. You forgave them effortlessly with a few simple words of compensation. This allows you to unconditionally forget the past harm they caused you, but I can’t!

You’re my partner, my husband. Only we know what we’ve been through together all these years. How could I choose to let go of all the past injuries because of some happening? I understand only by moving forward can we go far. But I don’t want to keep looking forward. Even if I look forward a hundred times, I can never go back to the past. I painstakingly waited for years to be with you. I searched the entire world and was grateful for the ending we have now. But your conclusion saddens me excessively. Though sometimes our feelings aren’t good, you’re still in my heart. I can’t stand by and watch you suffer!”

Zhang Yichen knows everything his wife does is for him, but sometimes words may be unintended, yet the listener hears them keenly.

”Zhi Han, some matters you shouldn’t worry about anymore. Since I’ve chosen to forgive my parents, it proves I’ve truly accepted them in my heart. No matter the mistakes they’ve made or how they treated me before, please don’t hold onto this matter. It’ll only make us more passive, don’t you know? We just want a happy and peaceful family, including our children. Remember her; she’s lived the same life with me all these years, and you know it. How can you bear to see your child suffer again after your husband has suffered? Being a mother and a wife, the most important thing is to protect your family from any harm!

If I can let go, I believe you can too, because you have me in your heart. I don’t believe you’d truly be hard-hearted to watch your small family be harmed...”

Now I realize my infatuation with you isn’t anything remarkable...
