My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1853: Chapter 1647: Striving

Without ever striving, how can one know what life would be like afterward?

Day by day, time passes, and Xia Jing has been pondering whether her actions are truly wrong.

She doesn’t know what she should do now to make things different!

During this time, Xia Jing avoids seeing Zhang Zhentian whenever she can.

Zhang Zhentian looks for Xia Jing every day, but each time he returns empty-handed. He truly cannot understand why his wife keeps avoiding him lately.

He visits his wife’s residence repeatedly in search of her, but each time he finds no results, which leaves him deeply unhappy.

Every day he looks for Xia Jing, but she’s never home, and his patience has run out after so many fruitless attempts.

He feels he’s reached the limit of his tolerance.

”Yichen, do you know where your mother has been staying these past few days? Why can’t I find her even after searching so many places?”

Zhang Zhentian realizes he can’t find Xia Jing, so he decides to let his son search for her instead.

In Zhang Zhentian’s eyes, his son is now someone with vast capabilities.

Whatever he desires, his son can find. Right now, he wants nothing more than for his wife to return to his side. Past grievances don’t matter anymore; as long as his loved one can stay with him, nothing else is significant. If that’s not the case, then how can he find happiness in this life?

”Dad, even if you can’t find my mother, how do you think I, her son, can? My connections may be extensive, but if she truly wants to evade us, even if we travel to the ends of the earth, she won’t appear.

Matters between a couple require both sides to slowly work things out and resolve them; outside involvement can’t help. Even if I help you find her this time, it won’t solve the fundamental issues. Do you think you’ll be happy just by being together with unresolved problems?

Perhaps, deep down, what my mother wants right now is just to find a quiet place to think about what she should truly do. If we disturb her now, will it have the opposite effect? Maybe one day, when she’s thought things through, she’ll come back. But if we forcefully find her, will she truly be happy?

I believe you love my mother so deeply that you should understand the kind of person she is, what her temperament is, and her attitude towards things.

If you make this choice, will you not push her further away? Every decision affects all the future paths you take; haven’t you thought about this?

I know there are things I shouldn’t be involved in, but seeing you both like this makes me feel uneasy. I also want to help you as much as I can, but as a son, I have no way to assist. Everything is the result of her own choice, and if she has chosen this way, what can I do? Your issues as a couple must ultimately be resolved by yourselves. Even if I help solve the immediate problem, the same issues will arise again in the future.”

Zhang Yichen tries to persuade his father, knowing that even if his father can ignore the world’s issues, he cannot ignore his mother.

Sure enough, upon hearing Zhang Yichen’s words, Zhang Zhentian feels he should give Xia Jing some time.

”Maybe you’re right, so I will try to give your mother some time, but I hope that what she decides will not disappoint me.

I don’t care how many mistakes she has made, or who she thinks of deep down. I just want her to be by my side and remain within this family. Some things have already passed, and it’s impossible to return to what was. So why dwell on petty thoughts?

I will give her time to ponder whether she wants to return to me. If she does come back, I will ensure she never leaves again. From the start, I’ve never resolved to let her leave, because I can’t bear it.

How could decades of marriage simply be forgotten? I leave her to ponder how insignificant certain issues are. Yet, in my life view, I can dismiss what she worries about because her happiness is my greatest hope. I only want to see her smiling joyfully and carefree.”

Zhang Yichen never imagined his father could love his mother so deeply, because even if his mother made a mistake, his father overlooks it all because of love. If such a thing happened to him, what would he do? Would he immediately drive his wife out, making it impossible for her to return to him for the rest of her life?

Perhaps everyone has a different attitude towards issues, and thus their perspectives differ. What is significant to him may not be so to his father. For the latter, love for his mother overrides everything, a love that Zhang Yichen sees as unattainable, as he already possesses the world and must protect it at all costs. Only he knows the hardship he’s endured to achieve all this!

”Dad, I never thought you could love my mother so deeply. Seeing you like this, I sometimes wonder if I would make the same decision if faced with such an issue. Maybe I wouldn’t, because while you can wander the world carefree, I can’t. I have a family, I have my place to uphold through my efforts step by step, so I can’t give up!”

”Son, I understand your decision. I totally comprehend and don’t know how challenging today is; if you choose differently from me, it’s understandable, how could I force you to make the same choices as I?”

The journey is long, and the road difficult!
