My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1896: Chapter 1691: Appearance

Who knocked on your heart and entered your inner world? I’m always the last one.

Yes, everyone views things differently, so the choices they make are also different. Every road chosen will determine where one will ultimately end up.

Sometimes Zhang Yichen feels bewildered; he doesn’t even know why he chose this path. Initially, it was to prove to his parents how strong he is, to make them regret abandoning him.

But now he has achieved something, achievements that aren’t easy for just anyone. He has become lonely and desolate; his parents, too, have faced certain situations because of this. He doesn’t know whether to feel happy or unhappy; he used to deeply wish for his parents to be punished.

That they could abandon a child only a month old so heartlessly was unforgivable to him.

But now his parents are punished, and why does his heart only ache instead of feeling happy? Is it truly because blood is thicker than water? If that’s the case, then why couldn’t they see how heart-wrenching it was for him to take those steps back then?

”Dad, I can’t understand if you’re truly happy or not with this situation. Speaking from the heart, as a junior watching you, I still feel unhappy inside. But recalling how you heartlessly abandoned me, letting me live lonely for over twenty years, the punishment you’re receiving now seems light to me.

Sometimes, you’ve said repeatedly that abandoning me was due to unavoidable hardships. But think about it: what kind of misery would lead a mother and father to entirely abandon a one-month-old child?

I really cannot fathom what benefits this action has, living in agony. Would your hearts truly be happy or joyful?

If you didn’t intend to raise me, why bring me into this world only to suffer this way? Every step I’ve taken has been so arduous, and you’ve never seen how difficult it was for me.”

Zhang Zhentian knows that some things will always cast a shadow in his son’s heart, always have reasons, and he can’t erase it all. These are choices he made, and the results led him here. He knows every decision he once made caused his son immense suffering, watching as his child underwent devil-like training while he stood behind the scenes, unable to step forward.

”Alas!

You really don’t know? Watching your devilish training heartbreaks me. I’ve always felt I hadn’t paid attention to you from childhood, but do you know how unforgettable every move of yours has been to us?

We watched as you chose your path, watched you undergo devil’s training, saw you reach today step by step, using all your efforts to create this brilliance. Are you truly unaware?

I know, not just you but in everyone’s eyes, your mother and I could never be considered competent parents. We abandoned you at such a young age, left you to live alone here, and if it weren’t for your grandfather, you would’ve starved long ago!”

”That’s why I can’t understand what kind of hardships, what unavoidable circumstances led you to this path, to abandon me, leaving me to live so lonely. Do you feel happy about that? Because elsewhere, at the end of the world, as they call it, my devil’s training was so arduous. Yet you stood behind, never coming out, leaving me to repeatedly hope whether my parents would return to be with me once!

But I really don’t know if I should choose to forgive you. Why do I stand, waiting expectantly at home for your sound of return, but then you hide behind, watching my devil training, and you never step forward to look at me? In your eyes, is it because I don’t look good or something?

My looks were given by my parents; they weren’t something I could decide.

I pushed myself to become the smartest person in the world because I want everyone to know everything I did was worthwhile. I want everyone throughout their lives to see me and believe it’s unattainable because only by standing at a different height can everyone know how much effort and hardship I’ve exerted to reach my current achievements. They can never empathize because they have their parents’ support, allowing them not to struggle so desperately to prove themselves!

But I can’t!”

”Don’t harbor too much resentment in your heart, child. Even if you resent us, your father, don’t hate your mother!”

”I don’t want to bring up certain things anymore; my mother doesn’t want to see you now, so give her some time. Only by giving her time will you know what you should do to bring her back. I can tell she still has you in her heart, but she’s choosing to avoid you for certain reasons. Facing you is difficult because of grandfather’s involvement and because every family member watches her, making her feel embarrassed.”

”Don’t worry; I understand. Since I’ve done this, I’ll choose to give her time, forgetting how long this period is going to last, I’ll always give her time. I’ll wait for her until the day she figures things out and wishes to meet me!

Even if this day seems like it will never come in this lifetime, I’m still willing to hold on, as long as there’s a glimmer of hope that might make this life different.

Today I must thank you no matter what. Thank you for expressing your resentment toward us, and thank you for voicing what’s been in your heart all along.

You will always be our good son. What you’ve done truly made most people in the world unable to achieve, leaving even affluent children desolate.

Because all of this, everything, is our doing; it was our abandonment that exposed you to such pain, leading you step by step to today. We can’t intervene; we can only watch from the shadows, watching you walk this path alone. We’re truly sorry!”

Sometimes I truly don’t know who deceived whom, nor do I understand why things have become this way. Your image is deeply imprinted in my mind.
