My Alleged Husband

Chapter 535: Chapter 514 Morning Contradictions_1

......

Time rushed by, and in the blink of an eye, another week had passed since the incident between Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing. During this week, Zhentian didn’t give up, constantly pouring out his heart to Xia Jing, but in the end, she ruthlessly cast him aside. She knew that nothing was more devastating than being disheartened, and once that happened, it was truly too late for any remedy.

Just as Zhentian had resolved his issues with Xia Jing, his son and daughter-in-law’s relationship had also become a complete mess. To outsiders, this might seem like a minor romantic dispute, but in the eyes of their large family, it was not so simple as it could lead to a chain of events, potentially uncovering secrets that had been buried for many years.

Zhang Yichen could no longer tolerate his wife’s constant yelling and screaming at home. He couldn’t accept that he had to come home drunk from the bar, thinking that a night of drinking would drown his sorrows, but not realizing that it would only lead to greater anguish. This anguish couldn’t be avoided by simply getting drunk; it had to be faced boldly and openly, with thoughts and feelings laid bare, to avoid awkwardness between them.

Seeing her husband return home in a drunken stupor, Ran Zhihan felt terrible inside. Had she really become so repugnant to him? Why would he rather get blind drunk outside than come home and speak clearly with her? Was talking to her face to face that painful for him? If so, what was the point of forcing herself to stay with him time after time? Was it truly for her own good? Sometimes she couldn’t help but question their relationship.

”Yichen, why have you gotten so drunk again? Don’t I matter to you at all? Couldn’t you have just told me you were drinking? You never used to go out drinking, even if you were upset or we had a fight, you’d just sulk at home. But now you’ve taken to drowning your sorrows. Is it so painful to be with me that you can no longer stand being alone with me at home? Don’t you realize I just want a moment where you can talk openly with me? But why is that so hard? I want all the cards on the table, but why do you always choose to run away? Can escaping really solve anything? Can it make everything as if it never happened? Can it reset everything back to the start?” Unable to hold back, Ran Zhihan broke down in tears. The thought of how she had been treated these days by her increasingly distant husband made her feel like she was going mad.

Zhang Yichen, now completely drunk, didn’t even recognize who was speaking to him. He started ranting madly. Others might think he was just spouting drunken nonsense, but to his wife, these seemed like drunken truths.

”Zhihan, you are the woman I love most in my life, but why do you hurt me so? Why team up with my father to oppose me? Do you know? When I discovered the truth, I was in such pain. I thought at least you would acknowledge my concerns, but the outcome was a huge letdown. In your heart, I was so insignificant that you didn’t even bother to send me a message. You’d rather chat happily with my father than spare even a little time for me—is that the attitude of a wife?

You think I’ve wronged you and want revenge—just say it. Why go to my father, a man who knows very well how he has treated me, who would abandon his kin for his own benefit. Do you want him to hurt me again? In your heart, is money more important than your husband by your side? I don’t know anymore!

Only when I’m drunk do I feel relaxed, without having to face your fake smiles or bear the lies and pain you keep bringing me. Are you happy now? Do you feel great making me suffer for you again, right?” Zhang Yichen, as he spoke, began to push his wife out, recognizing no one, only feeling the depth of his pain—a pain beyond words. He repressed his emotions, not letting them show, for if they did, they would hurt even more people.

Seeing Zhang Yichen like this, Ran Zhihan’s heart ached unbearably, but she could do nothing, knowing it all stemmed from her. What right did she have to plead with her husband when she was the cause of all this chaos?

”Yichen, stop this, you’re breaking my heart. Even if you don’t care about yourself, think of me. Why harm yourself and seek my sympathy? You know how much I love you, yet you still do this, and it causes me so much pain!”

”Zhihan, don’t you love me anymore? We’ve weathered so much together to reach today, finally having a happy life and our adorable son. But now, you’ve hurt me like this. Do you know? I’m in more pain than you, enduring hundreds of times more than you suffer. Don’t you ever consider how bitter I feel inside!

Sometimes I really, really want to hit you, but I know I shouldn’t because you’re my wife, and I am a real man. How could I hit my own wife? Don’t you love me anymore...do you?”

Ran Zhihan, on the brink of tears, responded to Zhang Yichen, ”It’s not like that, not like that. I love you, I’ve always loved you deep inside. I just didn’t know how to show it, and that’s why it’s come to this. Can you forgive me?”
