My Alleged Husband

Chapter 528: Chapter 507: Demands (Part 1)_1

”If you really want me to accept the facts, then please agree to one request of mine. You might find this request impolite, but I hope you can agree to it. Don’t let me completely give up on you with regrets, okay? You should understand that although I made so many mistakes in the past, my heart truly loved you. I really did value you highly. It was only towards the end that I became numb. I don’t know why my actions suddenly turned into what they did, why I became someone who disappointed you. All of this, every single bit, was the consequence of my own actions, and no one else is to blame. But I also hope you can give me another chance. Don’t make everything so complicated, okay?”

No matter what request I make next, I just ask that you agree to it. Even if you think this is the most unreasonable request, even if you think it’s the hardest thing for you to agree to in your life, still, I hope you can give me one more chance, one more chance to keep you by my side!”

Xia Jing couldn’t understand why Zhang Zhentian would say such things to her. She hadn’t understood a single word of what he was saying. Why did he want her to agree to his request and give him another chance to stay by his side? What did all this actually mean?

”I didn’t really understand what you meant by your words,”

”Why do you want me to agree to your request? If your request is too impolite, then why should I agree? Once upon a time, no matter what you asked of me, I would’ve agreed without hesitation, even if it meant dying before your eyes. I would’ve been willing. But now I can’t love you like I did before because the love between us has vanished. You no longer trust me, and I have no use to you anymore! Compared to before, to you, I am only someone to be exploited. Ask yourself, did you really love me in your heart? If you hadn’t wanted to gain the freedom you desired, why would you have chosen to be with me? I am well aware that in many ways I’m not your equal, that my family background can’t compare to yours. You have a rich father who would give up everything for you and give you all the wealth you desire. Yet you chose to leave with me, pushing me into an abyss, making everyone think I’m an unreasonable woman, making people think you gave up your own biological father because of me. But is that really true? Did you really give up your father and the inheritance because of me? It’s not true. Every single thing you’ve done, search your heart, can you truly say there were no mistakes? Think about it, are all those things really related to me? I carried many burdens for you, and the moment I became your scapegoat, I knew someday, once I lost my value to you, that you’d cruelly kick me out. However, I never imagined that day would come so swiftly. By then, you had truly broken my heart. You never gave me what I really wanted. I only yearned for a simple, peaceful, happy life, yet in the end, you shattered all my dreams!”

”Now that things have come to this, you come to me with such an unreasonable request. Why should I agree to it? Do you think just because we were together for over a decade, I should agree to anything you ask? You’re not a saint, nor are you someone I care about now. I can’t be like before, recklessly giving up everything for you anymore.”

”I will make you truly understand that a person’s heart can grow, but once it truly becomes cold and indifferent, nothing you say matters anymore. He won’t change his opinion of you because of any decision you make. The mistakes you made are your own responsibility to bear. I can’t pay for your mistakes any longer. The me of the past was indeed foolish and naive, always believing that following you without question meant obtaining everything I wanted. But in the end, reality proved that it was all not as I thought. To come to terms with myself, to have abandoned everything to be with you, while in your heart, you always exploited me. Your exploitation of me was mistaken for love, nothing but self-deception. If you had even the slightest bit of love for me in your heart, you wouldn’t commit such heartbreaking actions that hurt me, nor would you push me to a dead end. Your heart is truly malicious, reducing what we once had to this current state. The happiness I once sought is now impossible to return.”

”Nevertheless, I still want to hear this request of yours. What exactly is it? If it’s not too outrageous, I might agree to it. So, tell me your request now!”

”I don’t have any other requests. I just hope you can go with me to the Civil Affairs Bureau to apply for a marriage certificate again. If you can agree to this request, I can let go and stop bothering you for the rest of my life. Can you do it?”

Xia Jing burst into incredulous laughter. She thought it was a ridiculous joke. Did Zhang Zhentian really take her for a fool? If she went with him to the Civil Affairs Bureau to remarry, she would become his legal wife under the law. If she just left like that, who knows what kind of trouble he might stir up to bother her.

”To call you foolish is an understatement; do you not believe it? Do you think I’m foolish too? Isn’t your intention to tie me down legally as your wife, so I can never escape again? If you harass me later, you’ll have a reason to claim I’m your wife, to infringe upon me without restraint, won’t you?

Your own foolishness is your business, but don’t assume everyone is as foolish as you. Everyone has their dignity. Once, you discarded and trampled on my dignity under your feet. So today, you should realize that each decision you make will lead to painful consequences. These consequences are the result of your own actions. Why should I unquestionably be with you? I’m sorry, but I really can’t agree to this reason. The request is far too excessive. Why should I agree to such a thing with you?

”Let go. Don’t keep making life so bitter for yourself...”
