My Alleged Husband

Chapter 515: Chapter 494: Alms (Part One)_1

”Because I abandoned you all these years, you’ve always harbored hatred towards me in your heart. Indeed, I know what’s inside you without you having to say it. There’s no need to pretend to be so magnanimous. I clearly remember everything you’ve done and said. Don’t forget, after all, you are still my son. No matter what, you will never escape this fact. No matter how much you don’t want to admit it, the truth that I am your biological father will never change. By blood, by the world’s recognition, and by law, I am your father. That is a result that can’t be changed in this lifetime.”

”I have to admit, sometimes I feel you are an unbearable father and it makes my heart uneasy, but I have never thought of denying you as my father. I clearly remember every word I’ve said. All I needed was to prove that my parents were wrong to abandon me, and that would be enough. I’ve never thought of casting my own parents out of the house, making it impossible for them to return home, nor have I thought of destroying the relationship between my mother and father. Because anyone would hope to have a happy family, and the premise of a happy family is having parents who are in harmony and will never have a day of divorce. But when you mentioned divorce to mom, I knew that the harmonious family I had always hoped for vanished, because I ended up with a broken family. The moment my parents abandoned me was the same moment it was destined for this outcome. Even with such an outcome, I still don’t blame others, because such things depend on fate. If fate dictates that you are meant to be together, then you will be together for life. If your path is destined to be rocky, then you won’t find smooth sailing. Many times, as long as one’s heart is at ease and open, there’s nothing that can’t be achieved. Many times, I really can’t understand why you hurt mom over and over again. Now I understand that in your eyes, maybe you think that’s how you show love to mom, but in her eyes, she feels that you continuously hurt her, yet you never take it to heart. Everyone sees different things from their own perspective and thus perceive different outcomes. Regardless of what you say to me today, what actions you take, I will still not blame you. Because you are my father, just like you said, the fact that you are my father can never be changed, neither by law nor by blood!”

”So, you’re asking me to go back now as if it’s some charity you’re offering? Do you think I will spend the rest of my life depending on your handouts? You underestimate me too much. No matter what, I come from a mercenary background; I have the skills, I have what it takes to be a hitman for others. Do you think that just because you and dad speak sweetly to me in unison, I will return to you? You underestimate me. To me, now, all your kindness is nothing but charity. You just don’t want me to live the life I want on the outside, so you’re always trying to test me, to humiliate me, right? When you humiliate me like this, does it truly make you happy inside? I’m part of your family. By humiliating me, aren’t you just humiliating yourselves?”

Zhang Yichen couldn’t understand what was going through your mind at the time. Clearly, his grandfather was well-intentioned, wanting him to come home. Clearly, he genuinely hoped he could live with his biological mother happily ever after. But why did it always seem to him as if his family regarded their wish for him to return home as charity? Had his heart become so twisted? Couldn’t he differentiate if it was charity? There weren’t such impassable barriers between them to begin with, yet it turned out this way. Whose fault was all this in the end?

”You’re overthinking it. Grandpa wants you to come home not to give you charity, but because he longs for his biological son to be by his side. It comes from a father’s longing for his son, hoping his son can return to his embrace. Just like you long for mom and hope she can come back to you. You miss your mother so much; you should be able to understand grandpa’s sincere intentions. Why do you talk about grandpa like that? I can’t bear it when you say such things about him. If you think our invitation for you to come home is just charity, then please come back with dignity, without returning home with a lack of manhood!”

Charity? Zhang Yichen really couldn’t understand why his grandfather’s affection was seen as charity in his father’s eyes. What kind of mental state was his father in to view grandpa’s yearning that way? He just couldn’t figure it out.
