My Alleged Husband

Chapter 519: Chapter 498 Pretentious_1

”Now that you’ve hurt everyone this much, you still pretend to be righteous here? I don’t need your false kindness; nor do I want my grandfather to be hurt by you again. If possible, I wish you’d stay as far away from my family as possible, because it’s not the first time they’ve suffered because of you. You must not have forgotten my girlfriend before we were about to get married, how you treated her—threatening her over and over again, hurting her again and again. You even hurt her parents. Do you know how much pain I felt at that moment? I never imagined that my parents would hurt the woman I love the most—nor did I expect them to treat me this way, their own son, to harm me repeatedly. My heart truly ached! Yet, I understand that no matter how much pain I feel inside, I must bear the consequences. Since I’ve chosen my path, I must tread it steadily step by step, regardless of the hardships ahead, no matter the eventual outcome. I must walk my own journey with integrity and not change my life’s ideals for the sake of others!”

”Perhaps you think I am not worthy to be your son, but sometimes what I care about is not what you, as a father, think, nor my mother’s thoughts, but my grandfather’s opinion of me. To me, whether my grandfather’s view of me is good or bad is what matters the most. I cannot allow my grandfather to think poorly of me. Do you know how much I care about him? Yet now, he is lying alone in the hospital—I can’t even look at him. He’s still in the emergency room and hasn’t come out. Do you understand?”

”Your heart is truly harder than stone—you still have your BB cream, but you can harm your own father without any hesitation, let alone me, your son. So sometimes I cannot help but admire your indifference. Since you’re so indifferent, why bother telling me that you want to visit Grandpa? Whether you did it on purpose or not this time, I will never forgive you. Each time I forgive you, you just take it as capital for your arrogance!”

”Child, I know I’ve made so many mistakes, and I have no right to ask for your forgiveness, but please believe me, this time I truly realize my wrongs. I want to see him, see my own father, and let him know that I want to return to his side. I don’t want him to suffer any longer. Even though I am really selfish sometimes, I do have a warm heart. I’m not the cold-hearted person you describe. Can you believe me, please?”

”Whether you are the cold-hearted person I describe or not doesn’t matter to me at all. I won’t believe you, and I will not let you approach Grandpa again. You won’t be allowed to see him because the hurt you’ve inflicted on him is something he can’t forget. It’s so painful. He weeps at home because of your rejection, crying secretly, never sharing his anguish with anyone. Meanwhile, you lead a carefree life abroad, thinking you’re happy, but those you left behind weep over you. You never consider others’ feelings, so why should you deserve my respect time and time again?”

”No matter what you did in the past, I always comforted myself by reminding myself that you are my biological father and that no matter what you did, I should forgive you unconditionally, because the blood relationship between us can never change. I always hoped that one day you would understand my sincerity and have a change of heart. But now I’ve realized it’s impossible!”

”You’ve hurt Grandpa repeatedly, and he should have had enough of your harm. He owes you nothing; on the contrary, Grandpa took care of you for so long, raised you painstakingly, and gave you all he could, but in the end, because he wanted to be involved in your life, you heartlessly abandoned me. Remember, uncle and aunt once said that what matters most is a clear conscience. A person’s life will inevitably go through trials, and we grow through them, but we must not be ungrateful, nor forget the most basic morals of being human. You have become someone unrecognizable to me; I don’t want someone like you in my sight, and I don’t want my grandfather to suffer time and again because of someone like you. He is old and cannot withstand such blows. If you truly care for him, please disappear from our world. Don’t show up again, as it will only cause Grandpa great distress. He’s also torn about whether to let you back into his life, but when he finally decided to let you return, you heartlessly rejected his request. Your heart is truly ruthless!”

Zhang Zhentian is now in a state where he can offer no defense. He knows all the wrongs have been his doing alone—what right does he have to ask his son for anything, what right does he have to ask his father for forgiveness? If his departure is indeed the best resolution for them, then he is willing to leave. He does not wish to see his father hurt because of him. He doesn’t want his biological father to suffer over and over on his account. He doesn’t want such events to repeat; he only hopes that everyone can live happily.

”If you think my leaving is the best outcome for you all, then rest assured, I will find an opportunity to leave, but please let me see Grandpa one last time, okay? I really want to see him; after all, he’s my biological father. No matter what the outcome, no matter his decision, I will leave, okay?”

”Grandpa doesn’t need your concern for his life or his illness. You don’t have to pretend to say you want to visit Auntie. I don’t want Grandpa to be hurt. If you provoke him again, he might truly leave me—leave forever. I’m not willing to take even the slightest risk. Rest assured, as long as you leave, Grandpa is sure to recover quickly, because your presence also truly saddens him. He’s always torn about what to do to make his son forgive him, but when he finally swallowed his pride to seek you out, you heartlessly rejected him!”
