My Alleged Husband

Chapter 497: Chapter 476: Why Treat Me This Way?_1

Ran Zhihan knew that no matter what she said now, her husband would never believe her. But she didn’t mean to deceive him, she was out of options. She had reached this point and couldn’t take any other path; there was no way left for her to go. Although she had made that decision for her husband’s good at the time, she now realized that no matter what she did, as long as she deceived her husband, it would always be deception. She clearly knew that there should be no deceit between a couple. If there were lies within a marriage, she knew the relationship was nearing its end. Whether it be lovers or spouses, what should exist is mutual trust, not deception. What’s more important is honesty. If you can’t even be honest, why stay together? If you can’t manage honesty, isn’t that just straining each other’s hearts more? Don’t be too selfish and only consider whether your choices at the time were correct. Once you do that, there’s no turning back because what may seem trivial to you can feel like an insult to her, a lack of respect and trust. Then your marriage is on the brink of ending.”

”Husband, I know that whatever I say now, you won’t believe me. But can you please calm down and listen to my explanation? Don’t make snap judgments about my motives. I want to continue living well with you. Can’t you stop treating me like this, please?” After saying this, Ran Zhihan reached out to grasp Zhang Yichen’s hand, but he dodged her touch. He didn’t want this woman to touch even a fraction of his body. She had become so frightening. Why did she imply that he hadn’t treated her well enough? Did he really have no merit in her eyes? Why, when he sincerely cared for her, did she respond with lies? Did she feel that aggrieved being with him?

”Don’t say anything. I don’t want to hear your explanations for the things you’ve done. Don’t you have any idea in your heart of what you did? Since you dared to do it, it proves you no longer have me in your heart. If you don’t want to continue this life with me, why bother telling me all this? Don’t you realize it’s too late for hindsight? Clearly, you didn’t think before acting, but you seek explanations afterwards. Do you think I will listen every time? Do you think I’ll believe that your explanations are true? Who knows if you’re just constructing another lie? Since you chose not to tell me these things today, it proves you no longer regard me as your husband and don’t wish to continue our life together. If that’s the case, you might as well leave me. Perhaps you could find someone better, since you feel I’m not good enough for you, right?”

Listening to this, Ran Zhihan shook her head vigorously. ”Ah, no, it’s not like that. I never thought about leaving you. I never felt you treated me poorly. You’ve been very good to me; I know that. But sometimes I just make mistakes, even though I know I shouldn’t. Maybe that’s why I never end up with a good outcome. Please don’t be angry with me. I won’t dare do it again. I will tell you everything first in the future. Please forgive me this once!”

”I absolutely cannot forgive you for this. Since you did it, don’t ask for my forgiveness. This is non-negotiable. You should have been aware when you chose to deceive me, that there would be consequences if I ever discovered the truth. Would I still forgive you then? Stay faithfully by your side? Do you think we could continue our life with a clear conscience? If you lie to me once, isn’t there always the risk of a second time? If I forgive you now, you might think that any mistakes can be erased with a few sweet words. But is that how it truly works? I’m not a saint. I can’t forgive my partner for lying to me. I’m not like my father. Though the Zhang family has always been forgiving, I want you to understand, I’m not weak. I won’t dwell on why you chose to be with me initially, but I believe you truly wanted to be with me. Now, however, I can no longer trust your feelings because you have lied to me. You should know, the most important thing between spouses is honesty. If that’s gone, what’s the point of being together? You may think my actions today stem from distrust, but I can tell you clearly that after this incident, I’ve realized we are not suitable for life together. You are full of lies, while I treat you with sincerity. I really can’t understand why you would do this. If you treat me so well, if you wanted to leave, you could have just told me. Whatever you wanted, you could have been straightforward. Why resort to such means? You must understand that what truly breaks my heart isn’t what you say about me to others or what you do behind my back. What chills me to the bone is that I considered you my wife, and yet you schemed against me at every turn! You really didn’t have to treat me so cruelly. I could tolerate mistakes elsewhere, again and again, but lying to me, your partner and future lifelong companion, how could you? Don’t you realize how cruel this deception is? Where does my genuine affection stand in your heart? Do you still regard me as your husband? If you did, you wouldn’t deceive me like this. You’ve truly left me heartbroken...”
