My Alleged Husband

Chapter 454: Chapter 433 Indeed, It’s Her_1

”I never thought, I never thought that this incident would actually be related to him. When you kids came home saying that a strange old lady stopped you on the street and wouldn’t let you go home, I became suspicious. I just didn’t expect to end up discovering that it really did have something to do with him. I don’t understand what he really wants, nor can I grasp what he sees us as, that he can repeatedly hurt us like this. In his heart, are we really such people to him? Why does he do this, why does he keep making us so sad?”

”Grandpa, regarding yesterday’s issue, is it a bit premature to conclude now? Although everything points towards my mother, I believe she wouldn’t do such a thing without reason. There must be another explanation for it, so don’t fly off the handle and disregard my mother. I hope you can trust her more. In fact, my mother is not as bad as you all imagine. She has her difficulties, and often, we should offer her more understanding and compassion. Then she wouldn’t do things that hurt us. Trust is essential between individuals. Without trust, it just makes everything more painful for one another. Don’t think my mother is genuinely bad; she isn’t. She’s just unsure about many things, uncertain about how to get along peacefully with us. Everything she does is to live in harmony with us, to have a joyous and happy life together. Is that also wrong? Although my mother has done many things in the past that are hard to understand or forgive, so much time has passed. There’s no need to dwell on the past. By doing so, you will make neither yourselves nor my parents happy. Everyone needs more understanding, more respect, and importantly, more trust. Only then can people live the happy life they desire. If even basic trust is absent, then what’s the point of living?”

Old Master Zhang never expected his grandson to speak in favor of his parents; such a thing hadn’t happened for many years. Could it be that his grandson had truly forgiven his mother? But why then, take such actions? If he had forgiven his mother, he should be eager to have her return home, not standing here saying these words to him—perhaps his grandson also had ulterior motives.

”Yichen, I understand that this may be hard for you to accept, just as it is for grandpa. But no matter the outcome, we must choose acceptance, don’t we? Otherwise, how will we live our lives in the future, how will we face society, face the world? Everyone has different understandings, and inevitably, there are regrets that we carry in this world. After living a lifetime, it’s impossible to have no regrets and live exactly the life one desires. There are always times when one feels very sad and exhausted. I must admit, I never expected you to plead for your mother. Today is the first time you have spoken out forthrightly on behalf of your mother, the first time you have pleaded with grandpa for her. I am truly happy about this step you have taken, but I hope you really think about whether this is the right thing to do. Are you certain that your mother is entirely beyond suspicion? If she truly was innocently talking to your child, then why didn’t she let your child return home? Why keep him from doing so? If she really didn’t know that it was your child, she could have directly sent him home. Would she dare to brazenly stop someone else’s child from going home? You are far too naive, or perhaps you trust someone too much. Don’t think that just because she is your biological mother, and after all that has happened, she wouldn’t commit such deeds again. Sometimes, a person can never be entirely sure about everything; they can’t control fate’s designs or prove that they are completely uninvolved in a matter, do you understand?”

”But no matter what, grandpa, I firmly believe that my mother did not intentionally do this. This incident is far too strange; she couldn’t have known precisely that it was my child. If she had known, she would have made sure he got home quickly, instead of stopping him and causing us to worry. Even if my mother has done many bad things in the past, in her heart, this family, this son, must be the most important. She wouldn’t do anything to make this son feel sad or embarrassed anymore. But this time, such a big incident, I can’t believe it was my mother. I also hope you can forgive my mother and not let past issues cloud your judgment about her, assuming that all bad things are her doing. In reality, my mother is not bad; it’s just that you all don’t understand her enough. Please don’t judge my mother based on things you don’t understand. Give her more trust and let her know that we care too, and not just suspect her like in the past for everything. Extend some trust to my mother, and eventually, she will come to understand these matters and realize that we all care. One day, my mother will see and want to come back home to reunite with us, to live a happy life together!”

”Hmm, silly boy, you are still too naive. Do you really think with that, everything is resolved, that no one will know about these troubles? Hiding things doesn’t mean others won’t find out. On the contrary, if we are the ones to speak up, maybe others won’t even think like that. But keeping silent will only lead to suspicion and make everyone wonder about the real truth. Well, grandpa shouldn’t say much more now, but I hope you understand it’s the last time. If this incident truly has nothing to do with her, I will wholeheartedly welcome her back home. However, if it turns out that she is involved, then I will no longer be merciful...”
