My Alleged Husband

Chapter 466: Chapter 445 Are you satisfied?_1

Zhang Zhentian knew he’d never have another chance to return to his father’s side in this lifetime, he’d really made his father too angry this time. Why was he so stubborn at that moment, doing such things? Speaking a few honest words wouldn’t have killed anyone—why did he have to make his father so heartbroken, so upset? Why did he always do things that hurt his parents the most? Was he still even a son? His actions had made it impossible for everyone to forgive him, for anyone to find a way to pardon him. Was he truly an irredeemable villain by nature?

While Zhang Zhentian was entangled in his thoughts, his cell phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was his wife’s number. After so many years, she had never once reached out to him. Today marked the first time. Was there something important she needed to tell him, or was there some other motive? Over the years, he’d grown numb, no longer knowing what he truly wanted or for whom he had done so much. But in the end, it was still he who had his heart utterly broken. And now, how should he choose?

”Do you have any particular reason for calling me? So many years have passed, and you’ve never once contacted me. Is the sun rising from the west today, or do you need something from me? You’re actually taking the initiative to call me. Do you know how your behavior right now makes me feel? I really don’t know what I saw in you back then. To think of all I gave up, all I sacrificed for you, yet everything I spent seems so trivial in your eyes. Maybe I just deserve this, fated to walk through life alone. I don’t even know why I did those things back then. Do you realize that today, because of you, I’ve fallen out with my father again? This time he thoroughly kicked me out of the house. Are you satisfied now? I’ve done so much, and you’ve never thought about who it was all for. I’ve made so many mistakes, but you’ll never understand the reason behind my actions and how they’ve led to this situation. In your eyes, maybe I’m nothing at all, but do you know that to me, you are everything, my entire world? For you, I could give up anything, even my parents. And yet, in your eyes, you’d never do the same for me, because you’ve always thought I deserved it—that I willingly sacrificed for you without ever expecting anything in return, right?”

Xia Jing didn’t expect to be bombarded with so much before she had even said a word—correctly speaking, it shouldn’t be ’husband’ anymore but ’ex-husband’.

”What do you mean by all this? I never asked you to do anything for me. You chose to do those things on your own, so are you going to blame me in the end? For every single thing you did, why should I be expected to do the same for you? Being with you, I thought that the sacrifices you made should also come with a desire for return? I was happy every day with you, but often I felt suffocated by you. Haven’t I made sacrifices too? To be with you, I used all my savings to save your father’s company. In the end, he accepted our relationship, but you, you wanted to elope far away with me, making your son a constant pang of resentment for your father. That’s why he could never forgive us. Yet you always shamelessly try to stick around at home. How do you think that reflects on Dad’s face? You never considered my feelings when you did anything, so why should I consider yours now? We have nothing to do with each other anymore, so whatever you say or do is none of my business. I hope you won’t involve me in these matters anymore—it would just make me think you’re truly shameless. You’ve done so many wrong things, and now you want to lay all the blame at my door? I wasn’t born to take the fall for you. I’ve already endured all the blame you’ve laid on me, how else do you expect me to treat you?”

”What do you mean ’you’ve taken on too many black marks for me’? Ask yourself, what have you done for me, and what have I done for you? Can’t you be less headstrong in your actions? Don’t you remember the things you’ve done? You have to push these issues onto me, does that really satisfy you? Those matters clearly involved you, so why won’t you just admit it? You did those things; are you scared of facing the consequences? How did I marry such a cowardly and spineless wife?”

Upon hearing this, Xia Jingyi grew angry: ”Yes, I am a person without courage or guts, so what can you do about it? Are you going to blame me for everything just like you used to? Let me tell you, it’s impossible. I won’t take the blame for things I didn’t do, because that makes me feel too exhausted. Over and over, I’ve sacrificed so much for you, but you keep putting all your mistakes on me. Everyone has a breaking point—don’t you fear pushing me past mine? In your heart, you’ve always known what you think, and I’m well aware of it too. You know what you’ve done and always think of making me bear the consequences because you’re afraid. You know better than anyone how terrible a person you are, and the things you’ve done make everyone lose face.”

”If that’s the case, why even speak to me? Isn’t this a waste of your breath? From now on, don’t talk to me. I really don’t understand. If you love arguing with me so much, why did you call me? Is it just to keep this argument going? Do you find this fun? After all these years of squabbling, what do you really want—to keep it up forever? Do you actually think this makes for a happy, fulfilling life?”
