My Alleged Husband

Chapter 487: Chapter 466: Making a Mistake_1

Time had flown by, and two weeks had already passed. During these long two weeks, they endured days of agony. Neither of them reached out to the other because they felt that contacting each other would lead to no good outcome. They questioned why lower their heads and let the other look down on them, feeling that it would only reveal their own cowardice and incompetence.

One afternoon, Zhang Ni yelled at his mother, which was discovered by his father. His father, unable to bear it any longer, hit him once again. Zhang Ni rolled his eyes fiercely at his father, who never expected that his own son would hate him.

”Nai’er, has Dad never told you that no matter what happens, you should never raise your voice to your elders, especially your mother? How could you do this today? Do you not know how sad she gets every time you yell at her? Each of your shouts doesn’t regard her as your elder. Do you think your mom can stay unheartbroken? You’re such a sensible child, don’t you understand even this simple principle? Dad has told you before that you must understand this because your shouting will hurt those who love you. Your actions only make others increasingly sad, and you will never understand how painful it is to feel that sadness, do you know? Because she is your mom, she endures the hurt you cause her over and over again, but she is not a saint. She can’t remain indifferent to being repeatedly spoken to in such a way by her own son—how could her heart not ache? I know she will never hit you because you’re her most precious son, but that’s precisely why you should love your mom properly, right? How can you keep on hurting her, hurting the heart that loves you the most?” Zhang Yichen simply couldn’t tolerate anyone, even his biological son, shouting at his wife. He cared so much about these details and only wished his son would treat his wife properly. But why even his own son would treat his wife this way? What on earth could he do to instill even a shred of conscience in his son?

”Dad, I didn’t do it on purpose. It wasn’t my intention to yell at Mom. I just got a bit angry by what Mom said and suddenly raised my voice, saying those words. Dad, I hope you won’t be angry with me. A grown-up doesn’t hold grudges for a child’s mistakes. I know it upsets you when I shout at Mom, but I also hope you can understand that I really didn’t mean it. Who doesn’t have moments when they can’t control their emotions? Actually, I only did that hoping Mom would stop nagging at me; it hurts me, too. I’m only human. Though I’m still a child, I know what it feels like to be heartbroken and sad. I know that everything Mom says is for my own good, yet who doesn’t go through rebellious phases? Her repeating the same words over and over again in my ear, it’s natural that I’d feel discomfort. Many things, if said once, would be enough, but she keeps repeating them, which makes me restless. Dad, I know what I did today was way over the line, and it deeply hurt Mom’s feelings. I don’t know how to make you less angry, but I hope you can believe that I will apologize to Mom. I hope you’ll understand that as your son, all I want is for us to live a happy life together.”

”Yichen, it’s alright. It’s not such a big deal. Why be so harsh on the child? Every child makes mistakes. As long as he has a change of heart and realizes his error, that’s what counts. Don’t be so strict; it’ll only make him feel pressured. Every child needs space. We should let him enjoy the life he wants, let him be happy and free without always keeping such a close eye on him. It makes him restless. Sometimes, giving him a bit of freedom to relax could prevent things from turning so bad. We’ve all been through it, who hasn’t been naughty as a kid? While our childhood experiences may differ, why should our child have to go through the same hardships we did? If he could just play happily instead of enduring the pain we’ve experienced!” Ran Zhihan heard Zhang Yichen scolding their son outside and felt that there was no need to make such a big fuss about it. Their son might have spoken to her a bit loudly, but doesn’t everyone deserve a chance to make things right as long as they realize their mistake?

”Dad, please don’t be mad anymore. Look, Mom has come out to intercede on my behalf. Are you really going to ignore her words and make her sad again? I know how much you love Mom. Since you love her so much, you should treat her well and not let my actions hurt your relationship with her. Mom, I know I was wrong, and I won’t do it again. Thank you for pleading to Dad on my behalf today. I know you still love me, but what I did today was truly too much. How could I yell at you over something so trivial? You love me so much and would give me the best things in the world, yet I treated you so poorly. I’m such an unfilial son. Mom, I hope you can forgive me too, and not be angry. If you’re still not happy, I’m willing to let you hit me!”

How could Ran Zhihan bear to hit her precious son? He was the child she had brought into this world with such hardship. To safely deliver him to this world, she had put in so much effort. Now, her son was asking her to hit him—how could she possibly raise her hand? Besides, he was her most precious son, the culmination of her love with the person she cherished most.

”Silly child...”
