My Alleged Husband

Chapter 463: Chapter 442: Get lost_1

”I don’t want to lecture you today, but there’s one thing you must understand. Since you’ve done these things, you ought to bear the consequences, no matter what. Do you think heaven will forgive you for all the wrongs you’ve committed? Do you really think everything will continue to go smoothly for you after hurting so many family members who love and care about you? I have never asked for any benefit from you, not have I asked you to do anything for me, but at the very least, you should respect me. Is this how you show respect? Is this how you speak to me? Do you even regard me as your father anymore? Maybe you’ve forgotten that it was I who struggled alone to raise you, who provided you with food, who gave you the life you wanted. And now, for a woman, you’ve abandoned me, your own father. I can endure it all; I have accepted her, but why can’t you appreciate my efforts? Don’t make me feel like it was all for nothing. I treasure you so much, treat you like my precious son, even though you’ve hurt me time and again. Despite the pain, I still choose to believe in you, because I trust that you are a good son. I believe that one day you will understand my hard work. But why, in the end, do you treat me like this? It’s become impossible for me to forgive you for every mistake. Isn’t that enough? What will it take for you to be happy?”

”I’ve said it before; I didn’t mean it that way. I just want to return home and live with you all. Why do you always think I have ulterior motives? Why do you believe that I’m saying all these things just to fulfill my own desires, by any means necessary? Do both of you truly see me as that kind of person? Dad, after saying all this, do you really think these are the words of a father to his son? Aren’t you afraid of chilling my devoted son’s heart? You’ve never considered what I, your son, want; you’ve always just imposed your own wishes on me. Do you know how hard I’ve worked to achieve what you once called an ideal?”

When Elder Zhang heard his son speak like this, he found it quite amusing. His son had never really worked towards his dream. Master Zuo had always been greedy, hurting his own father for his selfish desires. And now, he had the audacity to utter such shameless words. It was beyond comprehension.

”Don’t you think it’s funny for you to say this? Tell me, what kind of pressure did I put on you to make you think that I’ve forced my dreams onto you? Haven’t you ever considered your own mistakes? After all these years, do you not have even a hint of remorse? How long will you remain stubborn until you realize that what you’ve done is wrong? How should I, as your father, treat you to make you feel loved? Am I supposed to worship you like a god in our home? As a father yourself, don’t you understand how it feels to hear such words from your son? When your son says something, it cuts like a knife; doesn’t what you’ve said hurt me in the same way? I am your father too, and I too need my son’s respect and love. But what have you given me? Is this what you call respect? Is this the greatest respect you can show your own father? Do you truly respect me? If you did, you would have come home sooner to be by my side. But have you? No, you’ve chosen to wander aimlessly, preferring a life of drift over returning to your father. What more do you want from me? How have I wronged you to deserve this treatment?”

”Nobody has wronged anyone; it’s just that we have no common language. I feel like I’m suffocating in this house, and even being with you, I’m not allowed to fulfill my own dreams. You’re set on having me take over your company, but do you really think I want that? Do you believe I don’t have the ability to build my own business, so I have to inherit yours?”

”If you don’t want the company, you could have simply told me. I wouldn’t have forced you to take it. But the things you’ve done have truly disappointed me. How could you treat me like that, knowing how much I trusted you? Do you even care about me, your father? You have no idea how much you’ve hurt me. You’ve always been selfish, and do you think that’s fair to me? I’ve valued you so much, cared for you deeply, and you—do you feel no remorse for your actions? If I were you, I’d feel I couldn’t face my father, I’d have no face to return home if I’d spoken such disgraceful words to him. I’d swear if I were hiding anything, I would never step foot in the Zhang Family home again. If I were you, I’d leave with my head held high and never come back. But why can’t you do that? Because you’re a coward...”

Zhentian never expected his father to speak of him in such a way. It hurt him deeply, to be called a coward by his own father – how was he to endure such a blow? But wasn’t this all a result of his own doing? Why blame others? Others didn’t owe him for his own misdeeds, shouldn’t he bear the responsibility? Yes, after all these years, why couldn’t he let go of the past prejudices? Why couldn’t he return and stay by his father’s side? Was all of this truly so significant?

”I don’t want to talk to you anymore. Get out of this house immediately, just go!”
