My Alleged Husband

Chapter 245: Chapter 225 Why haven’t you left yet?_1

Xia Jing realized that whatever she said now was useless. She knew that perhaps the only way was to beg Ran Zhihan. Maybe in Ran Zhihan’s heart, she, as the future mother-in-law, was still quite important. Perhaps only Ran Zhihan could plead on her behalf to prevent her son, her husband, and her father from kicking her out of the house, to allow her to stay here, to prevent her from spending the rest of her life in a police station. She didn’t want her life to be stained with such a huge blemish!

Xia Jing arrived outside the hospital room. She was about to push open the door and enter when Old Master Zhang came out from inside. He saw Xia Jing standing at the doorway, her hand still raised. He was somewhat baffled. Hadn’t he made himself clear enough? Why was this woman still fluttering around in front of him? Did she really want to shatter their family into pieces? Was she really that unwilling to let go in her heart? He was starting to hate Xia Jing more and more. From the initial displeasure he felt toward her, to the times his son had defied him again and again for her sake, he had forgiven it all. Why was it that after he had given so much, his daughter-in-law could never recognize his efforts and only knew to take? His heart grew cold. He once believed that if he could graciously accept their relationship and foster their love, then all these incidents would never have happened. However, time had passed, and it turned out that it was all just his wishful thinking. Xia Jing didn’t think the same way. In her heart, she believed that as long as Zhang Zhentian loved her, she could do whatever she wanted, without any restraint. But today, she found out that even Zhang Zhentian could abandon her one day, no longer indulging in wrongdoings with her, no longer doing things that betrayed others. At this moment, she knew she was out of options, and here she was again, trying to coerce someone into paying for her mistakes.

”What are you doing here again? I’ve already made myself clear. You no longer have any ties with our family, and I told you to pack your things and leave, didn’t I? Why are you still fluttering around in front of me? Do you really need to anger me to death to feel content?” Old Master Zhang looked at Xia Jing with a fiery heart and yelled at her loudly.

Xia Jing was unwilling to inexplicably take a scolding and said to Old Master Zhang furiously, ”What do you mean by asking why I’m here again? I’m your daughter-in-law. Am I not allowed to return to your home now? Don’t forget, Zhang Zhentian and I are not divorced yet. Legally, we’re still husband and wife. I still have the right to live in your house. So what, you want to drive me away now even though we’re not divorced? Could it be that you’ve wanted to get rid of me all along? You’ve just finally caught the opportunity to do it all at once, saving a lot of trouble and getting rid of a big nuisance in your heart, removing the thorn from your side, isn’t that the case?”

Although Old Master Zhang was very averse to Xia Jing, he had never considered her as an irksome burden. But why would Xia Jing think so of him? He felt indignant. Didn’t his many years of sacrifice deserve a second look? For Zhentian, he gave up his principles. For his son’s happiness, he abandoned his principles over and over. He had made so many sacrifices for Zhentian, and for this family, he tirelessly worked day and night. But what was the result? His own son’s abandonment, his daughter-in-law’s unfilial behavior.

”I have never said that you are the thorn in my side,” Elder Zhang replied, ”and I hope you won’t project your thoughts onto others or judge them based on your assumptions. Perhaps what you believe to be true is not the reality of others. You’ve always been self-centered, never considering the feelings of others. Do you realize that it’s precisely your self-absorption that has led you to this situation? If you had taken the time to think from someone else’s perspective, to think just a little, would you find yourself in such a predicament? If you had considered the hurt your actions might cause others, would you have ended up with this outcome? To be human, one must have conscience. No one in this world owes anything to anyone else; nobody has wronged another; no one is obligated to be kind to you. Yet, you take others’ kindness for granted, as if it’s something you are entitled to. Do others owe you? How much do you owe your son all these years? Has he ever said anything? He suffers silently, bearing grievances in his heart, unable to voice his hardships to anyone. Where were you, then? While you lived freely and happily outside, never sparing a thought for the pain and injustice your own son endured at home, or how he was treated because of your abandonment. You’ve never considered these things. Such selfishness; what right do you have to return to my house? How can you, so selfish, still say to your son that you love him? Is it based on your abandonment? Don’t you think that abandonment is the most hurtful of all? Everyone, even the toughest person, hopes to have their parents by their side, to see them grow up. Have you done that over the years? No, you haven’t. You abandoned your son. In your heart, your family, your son, your father, including your husband, will never be as important as your freedom, because you will never see anyone but yourself. You only live for yourself, always feeling the world owes you. But have you ever thought about whom you owe? Over the years, I’ve watched him grow step by step, enduring hardships without ever telling me his struggles. He wanted to prove to you that you made a huge mistake abandoning him. The only reason he wanted to become strong was to show his parents that he wasn’t weak or incapable. He hoped to make his parents regret abandoning him. Are you aware just how tough a decision that is for a mere child? He has grown, stepping through hardships, shedding much blood and tears, but did he ever cry? No; every time he felt like crying, he’d think of your abandonment and become stronger, to show you what true loss is. Before you returned, he said he would never forgive you, but after Ran Zhihan’s persuasion, he chose to forgive. But what about you? How have you treated him? You hurt his girlfriend, his future in-laws, his heart, and his chances at future happiness. Are you really fit to be his parents? You’re not because you’ve never had room in your eyes for your son. All you have is your selfish emotions. Please don’t come back to me saying how much you love your son, and don’t come around me anymore. You just irritate me to no end!”
