My Alleged Husband

Chapter 232: Chapter 212 Xia Jing’s Attack_1

Xia Jing had planned for an entire month, her deployment this time was very tight, planning how to find Ran Zhihan’s parents and how to deal with them, additionally, how to use her parents to threaten Ran Zhihan, to force her to leave her own son. Everything was ready, just like having everything prepared, only missing the east wind. Xia Jing thought she had a foolproof plan this time, that as long as she completed this matter, she was certain she could return to the Zhang Family. But what she never expected was that everything unfolded completely differently from her imagination, and the final outcome wasn’t her return to the Zhang Family but instead being scolded by her own son as worthless. It was at that moment she realized what kind of actions had caused her son such pain and disappointment, what had she done to cause her husband to insist on divorcing her, and what had she done to make her father-in-law no longer willing to let her return to the Zhang Family. But what could she do? She was the sole architect of this entire plan, could she possibly shift the responsibility onto someone else? No, it was impossible. If this event were to occur, she would never escape the criminal charge of murder. She could no longer place the blame on someone else because she alone had orchestrated the whole matter, while her husband, Zhang Zhentian, hadn’t known that things would escalate to this extent. Although he had supported Xia Jing initially and let her carry out the plan with peace of mind, Zhang Zhentian hadn’t intended for her to commit such heinous acts. He knew how severe the laws in China and the United States were, how could he possibly let Xia Jing commit crimes? Yet Xia Jing managed to turn the situation into an uncontrollable mess. Others intended to give her a way out, but she couldn’t take the offered step down because once the arrow was shot, there was no turning back; more talk was useless.

Only when Xia Jing began executing her plan did Old Master Zhang realize that his daughter-in-law had set up a major trap for his granddaughter-in-law to fall into. But with one in China and the other in the United States, and having not been in contact for so long, how could he warn his granddaughter-in-law? If he just sat back and waited for doom, he might lose the daughter-in-law he treasured in his heart forever. How could he bear that? Did he really want his grandson to lose such a wonderful wife? He would rather suffer much hardship himself than see his beloved grandson be wronged. Yet his grandson had suffered time and again because of his son’s return, experiencing trial after trial, causing his girlfriend to break up with him again and again. This was something his heart couldn’t accept, not to mention his grandson who deeply loved his granddaughter-in-law.

That day, Xia Jing arrived at Ran Zhihan’s parent’s house. She knocked on the door and politely said to Ran Zhihan’s parents, ”Hello, may I ask if you are Zhihan’s parents?”

Ran Zhihan’s parents saw that the visitor was a woman, and a middle-aged one at that, who seemed polite in her speech. However, they sensed from her demeanor that she bore ill intent. They didn’t know the relationship between this person and their daughter. Tentatively, they asked, ”Yes, we are Zhihan’s parents. What is it you wish to see us about? Has something happened to our daughter abroad? Or is there some other reason? Please tell us the truth...”

When Xia Jing heard the concern these two middle-aged persons had for their daughter, she suddenly felt a pang of guilt. How could she bear to harm such simple parents to threaten a helpless girl? How could she do something to cause them heartache? She hesitated for a moment, but as she remembered the words said by her son, her hesitation turned to anger, solidifying her resolve. She had to make this girl leave her son, even if it meant she would fall into Avici Hell in her next life. She had no regrets in this life; the only regret was abandoning her child twenty years ago, and not returning ten years ago to make up for the love she owed her son. She regretted owing her son love over the years, unable to make amends now. She knew that if she succeeded, she would be legally implicated and charged with premeditated murder. Then what could she do? She would spend the rest of her life in prison, but what about her son? As she was about to deceive these two middle-aged individuals to follow her, Zhang Zhentian called her.

”Xia Jing, what are you doing? I have something to say to you. Don’t act impulsively right now. You can’t do this. If you do, you’ll spend the rest of your life in prison. Can you bear to leave your son without a mother’s love forever? Do you really have the heart to leave behind your son, leave me, leave our happy family, and just walk away? Could you bear it? We both made mistakes in the past, and we should right our wrongs. How can we keep making the same mistakes? You know our son has already forgiven you. As long as you don’t hurt his beloved girl again, we can live a happy and joyful life as a family. Stop doing these meaningless things. It only hurts you and your son, and it makes your relationship with him worse. Is that what you want to see?”

”Zhentian, I’m sorry, but I must do this. If I don’t, my son will never break up with that girl, although I know in my heart that she is an innocent, honest, and kind girl, and she conducts herself with dignity. None of this is her fault; she has done nothing wrong. Her only fault is that she was born into a commoner’s family, a commoner’s daughter who will struggle to hold her ground in high society. That will only drag our son down, subject him to ridicule. Can you bear that? Are you willing to watch our son be humiliated by others?”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what to say to Xia Jing anymore. He sighed softly and said, ”You know what matters of the heart are like. When I first got together with you, you were also of common birth, and even a mercenary, which is an even more complicated identity than this girl’s. But to be with you, I was willing to endure all kinds of humiliation. I was willing to be insulted by my own father and repeatedly kicked out of the house. For our relationship, I could even abandon my happiest family and the father who loved me most. Don’t you understand why I did all that? Isn’t it because I loved you? If we could do it, why can’t we let our child quietly have a relationship? It’s their choice which path their life takes, and it’s for them to decide how it turns out. We can’t interfere. Let’s stop this. Don’t make our son hate us even more. Don’t let us completely lose this son. That would be a pain from deep within for both you and me!”

”But I can’t turn back now. Things have reached this point; the die is cast. Life is like playing chess, one wrong move and you lose the whole game. I already made one wrong move, and now I can only persist in my mistake, even though the final outcome will be a total loss. Yet I have no regrets.”

After saying that, Xia Jing simply hung up the phone. Zhang Zhentian heard the disconnection tone and knew that the matter was really troublesome. He hurriedly booked a flight ticket and flew to the location of Ran Zhihan’s parents. By the time he arrived there, Xia Jing had already taken his parents away from the scene!
