My Alleged Husband

Chapter 213: Chapter 193 Naked Threat_1

Xia Jing felt that this time, no matter what, she couldn’t be weak-hearted again. No matter what, she would never neglect her son. Regardless of whether her son was grateful to her or disliked her, and whether he acknowledged her or hated her for a lifetime, she absolutely would not allow that girl to stay by her son’s side. She couldn’t stand idly by and watch her son’s life be destroyed. Xia Jing had made up her mind to use any means necessary to drive that girl away from here. She couldn’t let her son continue to be entangled with that girl, no matter if the girl was good or bad, kind-hearted or evil. She would never accept this girl as her daughter-in-law, because she was just a commoner’s daughter. It wasn’t that she looked down on the daughters of commoners; on the contrary, she quite liked them. But the reality of society was cruel. If one wasn’t born into a wealthy family, nothing could be accomplished. Instead of letting her son’s future become so laborious, it was better for herself, as his mother, to be the villain and ensure his path forward was smooth. That way, she might be able to compensate for the years of maternal care she owed to her own son.

This was merely Xia Jing’s own thought; her husband, her son, even her brother had absolutely no idea about it. Therefore, there was no one who considered things from her perspective or even gave it a thought, leaving everyone to think of her as just an evil mother-in-law, unwilling to admit her daughter-in-law and only intent on destroying her son’s lifelong happiness.

Now, Xia Jing was ready to disregard everything. She didn’t care about what others said or did; she only knew she had to think about her son’s lifelong happiness. For the sake of her son’s happiness, she could disregard everything, even if it cost her her life, she was willing. But in Zhang Yichen’s eyes, his mother was just a person set on destroying his lifelong happiness with the girl he loved. He had never realized how deep his mother’s love for him was.

After Xia Jing hung up the phone with her son, she left a letter for her husband and left. The letter clearly stated, ”Zhentian, I’m sorry. I may have disappointed you again. Thank you for all these years of love, thank you for all these years of tolerating me. You know, even though I’ve been hot-tempered and sometimes impulsive, not thinking things through, you should understand that I truly love you. Do you know how happy I was when I found out that our son had grown up and achieved such outstanding results? In the many years since I left, I clearly remember how every night in the deep silence, you’d call out ’Dad’ in your sleep, constantly hoping your father would forgive you... I am fully aware that this is all because of me—my capriciousness made you leave your father, and also because of my capriciousness, you couldn’t stay with your own son and couldn’t watch your precious son grow up. I know the feeling; for a parent, it is truly heartbreaking. All this was caused by me. I don’t know how to comfort you. Do you know? I truly want to go back home with you, to see our child settling down, even if he spends his whole life as a person without a career, without power, without money. But he is still my most treasured son. Now that he has become a king of the economic world, I can’t bear to see his happiness ruined by the daughter of a commoner. Perhaps you think I am selfish, but I hope you can understand that all I have done is merely because I am his mother. I want to fill the void of maternal love that has been missing these past years. Maybe my method is wrong, but now that I have made a mistake, I can only carry on with it. I don’t want to see his future become so difficult. You and I both clearly know how cruel society is—only with wealth, power, and influence can one truly survive in this world. What can a commoner’s daughter, who has nothing, do to pave the way for our son? What can she use to help our son achieve an even more brilliant life? Rather than letting our son lose the life that he’s built because of such a girl, it’s better that they not be together, to avoid further sorrow. We’ve been married for so many years, shared a bed for so long, even if it wasn’t a dream, but I still love you. All these years with you, I never thought you would propose divorce. Today is the first time you’ve mentioned these words to me. Maybe I really am in the wrong, but since you’ve mentioned them, we can no longer return to the past. I’m sorry, please forgive my selfishness, I’ve chosen to leave. After I leave, you can tell our son that all of this was my doing, that it has nothing to do with you. You can place all the blame on me, his mother. I don’t resent you. If one day you can return home, I hope you can send my regards to Dad for me and apologize to him too, because of my mistakes, my capriciousness, he lost his son for so many years, and our son lost his father. If you can return home, please take good care of our child. Don’t let his future have any regrets, protect him well, don’t let him be threatened by anyone. Rest assured, even if we are divorced, you are still in my heart, along with our son, our father, our home. No matter where I go, I will be watching over you from afar, offering my deepest blessings...”

When Zhang Zhentian saw the letter Xia Jing left at home, his heart ached terribly. But what could he say? Where could he go to find Xia Jing across the ends of the earth? He didn’t know the words of divorce would hurt Xia Jing so deeply. When he uttered those words, it wasn’t intentional; Xia Jing had just driven him to confusion.

Just when everyone thought such an incident would never happen again, Xia Jing sought out Ran Zhihan once more.

Today, Xia Jing didn’t go directly to Lei Shao’s home to find Ran Zhihan; instead, she went straight to her school. She knew if she asked Li Jiayuan again to find Ran Zhihan, her son would find out, just as before. Instead of that, she’d rather go to Ran Zhihan’s school herself and thus avoid a major hassle!

”Auntie, what brings you to see me today? I have already broken up with your son, following your orders. What more do you want me to do? To be honest, my relationship with him has nothing to do with you. Even though you are Yichen’s mother, you haven’t been raising him for over a decade. Logically, you have no right to interfere in his marriage. Nevertheless, because you’re Yichen’s mother, I’ve respected you again and again, loved you, made allowances for you. But what about you? How have you treated me? Forcing me to break up with him time after time, what good does that do you? Does seeing your biological son in agony represent your love for him? Is that what motherly love is? Your ’motherly love’ is selfish. Who would accept such selfish love from their mother?”

Xia Jing found it amusing and began to speak, ”Well, I used to think you were a kind-hearted and understanding girl, but today doesn’t seem so great, doesn’t it? You’ve finally revealed your true nature. You don’t really love my son; you’re only with him for the money, aren’t you? What’s so good about a girl like you? My son must have been blind to fall for someone like you. Let me make this clear: if my son learns about my visit today, then you can forget ever seeing your mother in this world again. I’m not afraid of you at all...”

After saying her piece, Xia Jing left, leaving Ran Zhihan standing there, stunned!
