My Alleged Husband

Chapter 234: Chapter 214 Mother and Son Recognize Each Other_1

Zhang Zhentian found the address sent by Old Master Zhang after an hour. When he arrived, he saw Ran Zhihan’s parents bound by Xia Jing, sitting there. He knew that this situation had ultimately occurred, yet he was extremely relieved that he hadn’t come too late, thankfully arriving before Xia Jing could harm the two middle-aged people. If he had arrived even slightly later, perhaps tragedy would have already unfolded.

”Don’t you come any closer, if you do, I’ll throw both of them into the river, and then nobody will be able to save them. Do you really want to watch them die right before your eyes? If you don’t want them to die so quickly, then just stand there and don’t move...” Seeing Zhang Zhentian approaching, Xia Jing started shouting at him loudly.

At hearing Xia Jing’s words, Zhang Zhentian felt as if his soul was scared away. He dared not continue walking towards her; he could only stabilize Xia Jing’s emotions in the meantime and slowly try to reason with her. Otherwise, tragedy would definitely happen right before his eyes, and not only would Xia Jing go to jail, but his father and he might not escape either.

”Okay, okay, whatever you say, I won’t move, just don’t be impulsive. Calm down, can we talk this over?”

”There’s nothing for us to talk about. I planned this all by myself, it has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to take any responsibility if something happens, so you don’t need to be so nervous. Just watch how I make them disappear from this world!”

Old Master Zhang, hearing what Xia Jing had said, knew that she had completely lost her reason. The situation was no longer under his control. He needed to make an urgent call to his grandson; otherwise, a disaster would truly occur.

”Hello, Grandpa, it’s so late, do you need something? I’m still at work. If it’s not an emergency, can we talk about it when I get home?” Zhang Yichen, seeing that it was his grandpa calling, didn’t think twice before answering the phone. He thought that his grandpa wanted him to come home soon, so he said this to Old Master Zhang. But he was unaware that what Old Master Zhang was about to tell him was extremely urgent, concerning the happiness of his entire future life.

”Yichen, don’t hang up, listen to me and come over quickly. I’ll send you the location. Your mother has kidnapped your girlfriend’s parents here. If you don’t come now, something terrible will happen. How will you and your girlfriend get along after that, and how will you be able to happily be together?” Old Master Zhang finally said what he had prepared to say, knowing that it wasn’t good news for Zhang Yichen. However, he had no choice but to do it to prevent any mishaps and to protect his grandson.

After hearing what his grandpa said, Zhang Yichen threw down his phone and immediately rushed out of his office, driving his car toward the location sent by his grandpa. He feared that being even one second late would cause a serious problem and prevent him and his beloved girl from being together forever.

When he arrived at the specific location his grandfather had sent him to, he saw his mother standing there, with two tied-up people beside her. He knew they were his future in-laws, yet why did things develop to this point? Whatever the outcome, he and the girl he loved would not be able to have a good relationship.

Xia Jing, upon seeing her son arrive, hesitated. She didn’t want her child to lose his happiness, but now that things had come this far, how could she turn back?

”Don’t be rash, listen to me. None of this has anything to do with either of them. It’s all my doing. If you have any complaints, direct them at me, and don’t harm innocent people!” Zhang Yichen said to Xia Jing.

”How can you say that? You’re my son. Even if you did anything, as a mother, I wouldn’t trouble you. But it’s different with those two. Because they had a commoner daughter, it’s that commoner girl who has made you what you are today...”

”If you do this, aren’t you afraid that I won’t acknowledge you as my mother for the rest of my life? Can you really bear to hurt me? I’ve already been hurt so many times by you; do you still want to hurt me again?”

His words struck Xia Jing’s heart, softening it. She knew that in life, you can’t have both the fish and the bear’s paw. Which should she choose?

”Don’t say these things to me. Now that I’ve made my decision, I won’t have regrets. It doesn’t matter to me whether you acknowledge me in the future or not. As long as I have you, my son, in my heart, that’s enough. If you see me in public, you can treat me as a stranger, or you can tell others you don’t have a mother, that she has passed away. None of that matters to me. But I want you to be happy, to live joyfully—that’s enough for me.”

Zhang Yichen hadn’t expected that after all the mistakes his mother had made, he would turn out to be the ultimate cause. He wondered, how deep must a mother’s love be for her to commit such outrageous acts without hesitation? He was relieved that he had arrived just in time. If he had been even slightly late, he might have lost a mother who loved him so dearly, which would have been a regretful loss. He hoped his mother could always stay by his side. He didn’t want Xia Jing to face legal punishment for him, as that would lead to society’s scorn, preventing her from ever holding her head high again. He didn’t want such an outcome for his mother. Similarly, he just hoped his mother could live a happy, joyful life, and not commit more outrageous acts for his sake.

”Mom, please stop. I acknowledge you as my mother. If you’re willing to stop, I’ll take you home, and we’ll live happily as a family. Let’s not bother with these worldly troubles anymore. If you really have me in your heart, then put all of this aside and come home with me. The past mistakes are my fails as a son; I shouldn’t have shut you out. You are my mother, you love me so dearly, cherishing me like a precious treasure in your heart. How could I be so cruel to keep hurting you? You’re my mother, my birth mother. I’ve always longed to be cherished by you, to be loved deeply, hidden in your heart. Mom, it’s been over a decade, and I’ve never called you ’mom’. I never had the chance until today. I must admit, I did hate you before, for abandoning me over and over, for not treating me like your son. But today, I understand how much my mother loves me. I can’t let my mother be sad. As long as you’re willing to stop, we can go home together and live cheerfully. Don’t concern ourselves with the affairs of others. And don’t feel that the girl I love is a mere commoner. In fact, her future is very bright. As soon as she returns from studying in the United States, I’m going to marry her. I hope you can get along with her in the future. You know she’s not bad by nature; it’s just that her low status has given her such a lamentable place in your heart. I hope you’ll come to treat her like your own daughter and not let down the love of your son, please?”
