My Alleged Husband

Chapter 208: Chapter 188 Don’t Say You Love Me_1

Zhang Yichen returned to his room and wept bitterly. He felt a real pain in his heart. He had always believed that having the love of his parents was a fortunate thing, but why had he never experienced what his parents’ love felt like? Instead, he felt the hurt from the so-called love of his parents. He couldn’t understand, if his parents’ love was like this, what was the use of wanting their love? Why had he yearned for his parents’ love for so many years? At that moment, he was confused. He had always thought that the love of parents was powerful enough to move heaven and earth, shake ghosts and spirits; but to his surprise, his parents’ love had caused him to lose the person he cherished the most. Deep inside, he really was...

Ever since his son, Zhang Yichen, called him with those words, Zhang Zhentian had been excited. He thought nothing bad would happen for a while, and he had even started packing his bags to return to the home he had left for so long. But he had never expected his wife to do such an outrageous thing. If his son hadn’t called him, he would have been kept in the dark forever, never knowing the truth of the matter.

”Yichen, did you call Daddy again today? Thank you for calling me today, too. I’m not sure whether you’re calling with some good news? Has Grandpa agreed to let your mom and me come back home?” Zhang Zhentian asked happily.

”Haha, come back? After such a big thing has happened, do you still think of coming back?” Zhang Yichen said disdainfully.

Zhang Zhentian heard something odd in his son’s tone. He knew something bad had happened yet again, but he couldn’t understand what could have caused his son’s attitude toward him to change like this once more. He asked cautiously, ”Son, what happened? Did something happen? Or does Grandpa not agree to let us come back home?”

”No, you’re wrong. It’s not Grandpa who won’t let you return to the Zhang family, it’s me who doesn’t want you to come back...”

Zhang Zhentian couldn’t understand why his son, who had just allowed him to come back home, suddenly changed his mind today and said they couldn’t come back. He was utterly confused and unwilling to be abandoned by his son just like that. He said to his son, ”Yichen, what exactly happened? Can you just tell me straight? You said a few days ago that I could come back. Why have you changed your mind today? Did Daddy do something wrong again? If Daddy did something wrong, you can tell me. I can change, as long as I can be by your side and watch over you, that’s enough!”

Zhang Yichen felt a little uncomfortable hearing his father speak in such a pitiful tone; after all, half of his blood came from his father.

”This has nothing to do with you. It’s your wonderful wife. She actually used my girlfriend’s parents to threaten Zhizhen. Do you know? My girlfriend has broken up with me because of her threats. I want to ask, is this the result you wanted to see? Do you think this makes you happy? I don’t know what she was thinking, over and over again causing trouble for my girlfriend. I can forgive that because my girlfriend has always been there, insisting on staying with me. But she actually used my girlfriend’s parents to threaten us, I cannot forgive that. You can come back, but only by yourself. She can forget about ever setting foot in the Zhang family home for the rest of her life. I don’t welcome her, and even if she has the gall to come back, I’ll kick her out. This is the price for her repeatedly ruining my happiness. I am her son. How could she be so heartless towards me? All these years, she didn’t show a speck of maternal love for me, I could overlook that, but this time she’s gone too far...”

Zhang Zhentian failed to fully grasp what his son had said; he was still in a dazed state. He couldn’t believe that his wife would do such a thing. He remembered telling Xia Jing about it, so how could something like this still happen? Could it be that his wife did it on purpose, deliberately preventing him from returning to his own father, deliberately turning his son against him? No, he couldn’t believe that his wife would do such a thing; she had always loved him.

”Yichen, is there some kind of misunderstanding here? Your mother couldn’t possibly go and trouble your girlfriend again after knowing the seriousness of the situation!”

”Heh, from what you’re saying, you don’t believe my words. Since you don’t, you can ask her yourself. Ask her if she really did those things, what she’s thinking, whether I’m in her heart at all? If she says I’m not in her heart, then for a lifetime, I will cut off all relations, all contact with her. If she says I’m in her heart, I hope you can help me ask her why she’s treating me this way, watching me lost and heartbroken; does it make her happy? Seeing me abandoned by the girl I love, does that make her feel comfortable? Do you know? I waited for Zhichen for ten whole years, holding onto my goal throughout—becoming the economic king of the world—so that I would be worthy of marrying her, because she’s so kind, so beautiful. But I never expected that when I achieved my dreams, my parents would come back, and my mother’s return would be to sabotage my relationship with the woman I love. How do you expect me to accept this?”

”Child, Dad is sorry to you; Dad didn’t keep a close enough eye on your mother. But she didn’t mean any harm. She just felt that the girl you like is a common girl who couldn’t contribute much to your career, so that’s why your mother treated her in such a way. Can you understand your mother’s good intentions? Don’t hate your mother. As a mother, she has absolutely no ill will towards her own children. She just hopes her son can live a happy life and achieve even greater success in his career. Try to understand your mother’s heart!”

”I don’t need my wife to help with my career; I just need her to stay at home, accompany my grandfather, and be with the people I care about. That’s enough for me. But why can’t Xia Jing see my girlfriend’s good qualities? Do you know? My girlfriend has repeatedly persuaded me to forgive you, even though you abandoned me for so many years. Because of Zhichen’s advice, I’ve slowly started to change my attitude towards you, trying to accept you again. But how did you treat her in return? How did you repay her for all she has done for you? You just continue to hurt her repeatedly.”

”Yichen, no matter what, I hope you understand that whatever your mother has done, it’s all from a heart that loves you. There’s not a parent in the world who doesn’t love their children. Even if you don’t realize how much your mother loves you, I can see it. I hope you can see that all the reasons are rooted in her love for you and let go of the grievances. Let her come back home!” Zhang Zhentian earnestly pleaded with Zhang Yichen.

”I’m sorry, but if this is your version of love for me, then I must say, I can’t bear this love. It’s just too heavy for me!” Zhang Yichen said to Zhang Zhentian, ”I don’t want any of your future actions to use the excuse, ’We did it because we love you.’ I hope you won’t continue to throw around the word ’love’ so carelessly, and please, don’t say you love me anymore, because your love is far too difficult. I really can’t bear it. If having your love means losing the girl I adore, then I’d rather be without your love!”

Zhang Zhentian was stunned upon hearing this. His son was taking such a resolute stance?
