Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2894: Chapter 2020: Open and Honest

When Bai Xiaosheng entered the kitchen, Mrs. Margery was simmering a pot of thick soup. Dressed in her casual home attire, she held a long wooden ladle with an expression of tranquility and graceful poise.

The entire kitchen was filled with a rich aroma, tantalizing one’s taste buds.

At this moment, Mrs. Margery seemed more like a kind mother, an elderly woman with successful children, meticulously preparing a feast for the younger generation.

As Bai Xiaosheng walked in, Mrs. Margery glanced up at him, then smiled and looked back at her pot of soup, saying, ”Mr. Bai, you’re a guest, how can you come into the kitchen? You should go and rest, have a cup of tea. This last pot of soup will be ready soon.”

Bai Xiaosheng laughed and said, ”Mrs. Margery, since you’ve invited me here as a guest, today let’s ignore status and roles, and just talk about age. I am the younger generation, how can I sit back and enjoy? Let me lend a hand so I can eat with more peace of mind.”

As he spoke, Bai Xiaosheng had already rolled up his sleeves and went to the sink to wash his hands.

”You might not believe it, but I am quite confident in my culinary skills,” Bai Xiaosheng said.

Right then, Fei’er also walked in and laughed, ”Mr. Bai, you have quite the nerve!”

Earlier outside, Lin Weiwei had showered Bai Xiaosheng with praises, but Fei’er wasn’t convinced.

A man focused on his career, running around all day, where would he find the time to study cooking?

Take her for example, being able to cook a bowl of noodles, fry a perfect egg, and make a salad, that’s her entire culinary repertoire.

”My mother’s soup has been simmering for three or four hours, since you claim to be an expert, why don’t you tell us what’s unique about it?”

Fei’er was clearly trying to pose a challenge to Bai Xiaosheng.

A Huaxia person claiming to excel in culinary skills would be in Oriental cuisine, not necessarily French cuisine.

Fei’er deliberately asked this, wanting him to fail or speak incorrectly, giving her a chance to mock him.

”Fei’er, who allowed you to come in here and mess around with Mr. Bai? Go, entertain the guests,” Mrs. Margery said with a slightly scolding look towards Fei’er.

Fei’er didn’t dare disobey her mother, yet she lingered without going out, glancing at Bai Xiaosheng.

Lin Weiwei had said he was a man ”whose depths you can never fully understand,” and now she wanted to stump him, which would be quite delightful.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled at Fei’er and calmly said, ”Mrs. Margery’s pot of soup has a strong Western style, the base is made with chicken bones and beef bones roasted and then simmered for no less than three hours. Just now, dill, lemongrass, and cilantro were added, so it should be ready to serve soon.”

Listening to Bai Xiaosheng speak with such confidence, Fei’er couldn’t help but look at her mother.

”Not a single mistake, it seems Mr. Bai indeed excels in culinary skills.” Even Mrs. Margery couldn’t help but be a bit surprised and then laughed, ”Since Mr. Bai wants to make a dish, I won’t dissuade you. Do see what ingredients are available and prepare a dish for us.”

After saying that, Mrs. Margery looked at Fei’er, ”Now you’ve seen Mr. Bai’s vast knowledge, go outside and entertain the guests. You four stay outside and don’t come in again to avoid causing chaos.”

Fei’er quickly nodded, gave Bai Xiaosheng a thumbs-up, and walked out.

Bai Xiaosheng walked over and glanced at the kitchen refrigerator. The ingredients were ample and fresh, but mainly Western vegetables, honestly not suitable for Chinese stir-fry. Plus, the taste preferences between Western and Eastern people differ, and individual preferences for sweet or spicy flavors vary greatly.

Also, with the soup almost ready, there wasn’t much time left for Bai Xiaosheng to cook.

”Let’s make scrambled eggs with tomatoes then,” Bai Xiaosheng said to himself.

This dish might be ordinary in the East, but making it well requires a lot of skill.

Mrs. Margery, unfamiliar with Eastern cuisine, had no objections.

Bai Xiaosheng took out the tomatoes and eggs to prepare on the side, while Mrs. Margery continued simmering her soup, now at the stage of adding salt for seasoning.

The two of them just went about their work in the kitchen.

As Bai Xiaosheng was cutting the tomatoes, Mrs. Margery casually asked, ”I heard you arrived at Wan Yu on the Moonlight Bird Princess cruise ship. I know that ship; I even took it once. Was your journey pleasant?”

”A very wonderful journey, I must thank Mrs. Margery,” Bai Xiaosheng said without looking up.

Mrs. Margery chuckled upon hearing this, ”What’s there to thank me for? Your tickets were obtained by Fei’er using her connections; I wasn’t aware. But that girl was careless and didn’t board herself, leaving you without a companion for the journey.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled and began beating the eggs with a steady hand.

”Well, we weren’t entirely unaccompanied, thanks to the two friends you arranged for us,” Bai Xiaosheng said leisurely, ”Lai Mo, Buchi, though I wonder if those are their real names.”

In the tranquil atmosphere, Bai Xiaosheng’s words flowed casually.

Mrs. Margery’s hand with the ladle paused, she looked at Bai Xiaosheng with bright eyes.

Bai Xiaosheng didn’t seem to notice Mrs. Margery’s gaze, busying himself at the stove.

”Mr. Bai, I’m not sure what you mean,” Mrs. Margery quietly shifted her gaze to her pot of soup, ”Who is Lai Mo, Buchi, are they two people?”

Bai Xiaosheng said no more about the two individuals and began cooking while casually chatting with Mrs. Margery, ”Miss Fei’er has been exceptionally meticulous and responsible with us this past year, never making any mistakes; Mrs. Margery, you should definitely praise her for that.”
