Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2854: Chapter 2001: Rumors Are Like Knives (Part 2)

More terrifyingly, the rumors about the business dealings are almost true; they are their secretive business!

How can Caroline remain calm as if nothing happened?

Robert has been with Caroline these days outside; upon hearing Caroline’s inquiry, he quickly calls over someone who has been within the group in recent days.

”Has it been spreading like this these days?!” Robert asks.

The person dares not hide anything, ”It was better a couple of days ago, but lately, it’s been increasing...”

Caroline naturally hears this, her face turning unsightly.

Robert waves the person away and leans closer to Caroline, saying in a low voice, ”Sister Caroline, I believe this is clearly someone intentionally spreading it!”

”You don’t need to say that!” Caroline’s expression turns slightly fierce, she whispers harshly, ”It must be that Bai Xiaosheng!”

”But he... is still over in Oceania.” Robert checks Caroline’s expression and probes, ”Could it be Jiang Kuo’s people? Did Bai Xiaosheng have them create rumors here at headquarters?”

Jiang Kuo?

Caroline’s mind conjures the figure of the person, and she immediately snorts coldly, her eyes showing disdain, ”Jiang Kuo doesn’t have such ability!”

”To stir things up at headquarters, at least someone at the level of Vice Chairman must be fueling it from behind!”

Caroline’s eyes are gloomy and uncertain; suddenly, she turns around and leaves.

The rumors are truly like knives, stabbing at her heart; ignoring them would be detrimental.

Robert is about to agree with Caroline’s judgment, but seeing her leave, he quickly gathers people to chase after her, ”Where are you going now, not heading to the administrative department?”

”I have some matters elsewhere; you have them return, just follow me.” Caroline instructs without turning back.

Robert quickly gestures to those around to go back, hastening to catch up with Caroline.

Caroline is heading to Vice Chairman Morgan’s office.

Along the way, they continue to hear bits of gossip.

However, Caroline remains indifferent, not intervening, and neither does Robert.

It’s simply too difficult to manage.

Outside Vice Chairman Morgan’s office, Caroline only says to Robert, ”You wait outside.”

Then, she pushes the door open and enters.

A short while later, the personal secretary close to Vice Chairman Morgan also exits.

Robert is acquainted with the person and enthusiastically greets them.

Seeing no one around and being Morgan’s territory, it feels safe. Robert moves closer and says, ”Mr. Secretary, what’s happening at headquarters? We went out for a few days and returned to all these nasty rumors. Miss Caroline was going to the administrative department but changed course midway.”

Knowing Robert’s real identity, the secretary, aware that he is Caroline’s brother, and part of the core group, doesn’t hide anything, saying immediately, ”Mr. Morgan is also vexed about this matter now.”

”Who knows which bastards are fueling this from behind!” Robert grits his teeth, ”We can’t let them bully us like this; we must fight back! Don’t you agree?”

”I think what we should do now is adopt a defensive strategy first. Otherwise, we’ll be more passive!” The secretary remarks casually.

Robert thinks for a moment, seemingly agreeing, nodding repeatedly, ”You have more experience; I’m furious, can’t hold back!”

The secretary immediately laughs, ”As secretaries, sometimes we need to control our emotions to better support our superiors.”

Robert raises a thumb, displaying sincere admiration, ”If it were you, how would you suggest handling such matters to the leadership? Teach me, so I can tell my sister and not let her think I’m too reckless, useless.”

Robert shows a humble attitude seeking advice.

Being another among the closest team, the secretary smiles and says, ”Based on what I know of Mr. Morgan, I just made some suggestions, many of which were accepted. Let me relay them to you; might give you some insight, seeing as these matters will be discussed internally.”

Then, the secretary whispers to Robert, who listens intently, nodding repeatedly, absorbing this as valuable wisdom.

However, deep within Robert’s eyes, a different brilliance flickered.

Sometimes the thoughts of those trusted by those in power are merely reproductions and extensions of their own way of thinking.

Listening to the secretary’s words can give an insight into Vice Chairman Morgan’s thoughts and methods.

In the office, Caroline was venting her frustration to Vice Chairman Morgan, ”This creation of rumors and gossip has always been our forte, our weapon. I didn’t expect Bai Xiaosheng and his people to be even better at it this time. Listen to what’s being spread outside! Not only are there truths and secrets, but also some unspeakable comments to disgust us! It’s infuriating! It must be that Bai Xiaosheng, along with Lu Cheng’an and Li Yunyuan, who are behind this!”

Vice Chairman Morgan also wore a stern face. After Caroline finished speaking, he spoke in a deep voice, ”I’ve heard about it too. In fact, before you came, I received a call from Wen Yan.”

Caroline, upon hearing this, raised her eyebrow and looked at Vice Chairman Morgan, ”Oh, what did he say?”

Vice Chairman Morgan sneered, ”Wen Yan said someone reported me to him! But he refused to reveal the name. Wen Yan is always slick in his dealings and never does anything he’s not confident about. This time, telling me this seems like he’s just trying to scare me!”

Caroline narrowed her eyes slightly and sneered, ”Could it be that he’s still upset about how, back in the day, you voted for Bai Xuanyu at a critical moment?”

Vice Chairman Morgan curled his lips, ”Even if he holds a grudge, so what? The reality is what it is now, and no one can change it. If Wen Yan had solid evidence, he should investigate me; why would he deliberately let something slip at such a critical moment?”

”However, right now, we can’t just let those rumors go unchecked.” Vice Chairman Morgan continued in a deep voice, ”Sometimes words are sharper than knives. Bai Xiaosheng might have found out some things that can’t topple me, but they do indeed make the other vice chairmen suspicious and even envious of my gains. That can be troublesome. But at this point, we shouldn’t take extreme measures against that Bai fellow, or it would be like exposing ourselves. We should first consolidate our defenses. I’ve already decided our family will divest from Golun International’s controlling stake, saying we are ashamed of the scandals it has caused.”

”You’re giving up Golun International’s controlling stake?” Caroline was startled by this.

Vice Chairman Morgan’s lips curled into a smile, ”Once the news gets out, individual shareholders on the market will definitely sell Golun’s stock. Then, you arrange for a new company to reap the rewards and take over the controlling stake.”

After all, we’re ”one family,” and as long as there’s enough capital, the stock will only rise later, not fall.

Caroline was well aware that there was no free lunch in this world. Vice Chairman Morgan couldn’t possibly offer her family this opportunity for nothing, so she listened on.

”Some of our family’s business in Oceania will also need some adjustments from your family.” Vice Chairman Morgan finally stated his purpose, laying out what he needed the Caroline Family to do.

They weren’t too hard to accept, so Caroline nodded.

Outside, Vice Chairman Morgan’s secretary was also talking to Robert about this.

The secretary naturally had a purpose.

Robert, being Caroline’s brother, was there in case Caroline disagreed with Vice Chairman Morgan’s demands and needed to go back and consider it; he could give a little nudge.

Robert listened with utmost attentiveness, nodding repeatedly...

In the office, after finishing these talks, Vice Chairman Morgan began to discuss with Caroline how to make their business operations in Oceania more covert as quickly as possible.

Over the past week, their enterprise had already implemented changes on Mrs. Margery’s side, which were considered secretive, swift, and effective.

Yet Vice Chairman Morgan still felt it wasn’t enough.

”I don’t know why, perhaps it’s just that the older you get, the more cautious you become. I always feel uneasy.” Vice Chairman Morgan shared his feelings over the past few days in front of Caroline.

With age comes wisdom, and sometimes the sixth sense can be surprisingly sharp.

Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan had joined forces, laying out a net to comprehensively monitor those enterprises. Over the past week, everything about those companies had provided Bai Xiaosheng and his people with more clues and opportunities for tracking.

Faced with Vice Chairman Morgan’s anxiety, Caroline naturally comforted him and proposed a plan for her family to coordinate their actions.

Caroline was also afraid her family might fall behind and suffer losses.

A covert discussion lasting a good two to three hours ensued.

Robert and the secretary outside had nearly finished their talk, and as soon as there was movement in the room, Caroline emerged, and the two immediately approached.

In the end, Caroline left with Robert.

When they reached a secluded place, Robert tentatively asked, ”Sister Caroline, how did your talk with Vice Chairman Morgan go?”

”I have everything under control; you needn’t ask more!” Caroline said directly.

”Yes!” Robert nodded immediately, but secretly thought—

I know quite a bit too. With Bai Xiaosheng’s brilliance, he must know no less than you, my sister!
