Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2852: Chapter 2000: A Storm Unfolds (Part 3)

”This... isn’t that a bit over the top...?”

Hearing that, Caroline instead fell into deep hesitation.

Right now, Caroline’s family and Vice Chairman Morgan’s family both have their ”main business” in Oceania; if all of that stops, how much will they lose!

At this rate, Caroline would rather go to the black market and put a bounty on Bai Xiaosheng, have him taken out.

”I’ve already told Mrs. Margery there’s no need to be that cautious,” Vice Chairman Morgan said slowly. ”My thinking is pretty much the same as yours. Wherever Bai Xiaosheng goes, we pause operations there. In fact, no matter how much trouble he stirs up, he’s just one man, his reach is limited. What I’m worried about is Wen Yan sending people to back him up. Once Bai Xiaosheng catches the slightest whiff of movement, he’ll cling to us like maggots on bone!”

Caroline heard that and instantly straightened, nodding heavily.

The two of them still didn’t know that Wen Yan had not only already sent personnel to support Bai Xiaosheng, she had practically redeployed half the elite staff from all the other major regions, and locked onto hundreds of enterprises the two families held in Oceania.

If Vice Chairman Morgan really adopted Caroline’s proposal—only tightening and scaling down where Bai Xiaosheng showed up—it would actually greatly slow down Bai Xiaosheng and his team’s investigation.

Unfortunately, after hearing Vice Chairman Morgan’s words, Caroline herself could no longer sit still.

Her family, after all, had charged ahead of Vice Chairman Morgan’s. Once they fell into serious trouble, for the sake of protecting his own interests, Vice Chairman Morgan might not be willing to give them full support.

In the end, because of利益, the alliance between Caroline and Vice Chairman Morgan was far from being an impregnable wall.

Caroline pondered for a moment, then said to Vice Chairman Morgan, ”Mr. Morgan, I just thought it through more carefully. Besides taking Bai Xiaosheng as our target for precautions, we should also make certain changes to the important ’businesses’—make those operations more hidden, better to prevent problems before they happen. Not only that, I think even some of the secondary ’businesses’ should be transformed in batches. That way it’s harder for either of us to be traced. Of course, we don’t have to change everything at the same time—that would cause too big a stir. What do you think?!”

As she said this, Caroline locked her gaze on Vice Chairman Morgan’s eyes, a faint light in her expression, as if in expectation.

Vice Chairman Morgan looked at Caroline and couldn’t help but fall into thought.

First, what Caroline said did make sense, and changing things in batches didn’t really hurt their pursuit of利益, nor would it cause much loss.

Second, Vice Chairman Morgan understood that Caroline’s real concern was her own family.

If he didn’t handle this properly, this woman might very well harbor a crack in her heart toward him.

Vice Chairman Morgan didn’t want Caroline to grow divided in loyalty; losing such a capable ally would be a terrible bargain for him.

For now, Caroline didn’t press him, quietly waiting for Vice Chairman Morgan’s decision.

Vice Chairman Morgan silently let out a turbid breath, then said to Caroline in a gentle, pleasant tone, ”Your idea is more thorough than ours. We can’t just guard against what’s happening now; we have to guard against what might happen. We’ll do as you say. I’ll contact Mrs. Margery in a bit.”

Caroline’s eyes immediately showed gratitude, and she nodded again and again.

Whether sincere or not, she appreciated Vice Chairman Morgan’s decision.

That same day, in the afternoon.

Bai Xiaosheng was at Domido Airport, getting ready to board.

Things here were basically wrapped up—the matters that needed to be handled were handled, the investigations that needed to be done were done. The cooperation with Zack was also being overseen by designated personnel.

So naturally, Bai Xiaosheng was preparing to leave.

As for Mr. Yadu, after yielding at the banquet that night and agreeing to maintain secrecy and provide investigation data, Bai Xiaosheng hadn’t made things hard for him.

Yado should have left Domido City a bit earlier; as for how he would explain things once he got back, that was no concern of Bai Xiaosheng’s.

In fact, Bai Xiaosheng still had to race around putting out fires in various places; after all, assisting the Sixth Business Division was a mission assigned to him by headquarters.

Just as he was passing through security, Bai Xiaosheng received a message.

The message wasn’t long, just one obscure line: ”The target has moved. The tail is following up. Everything is going smoothly.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled faintly.

To be able, with what happened here, to shake the whole board—that was enough!

Right after that, as Bai Xiaosheng was about to put away his phone, he received another message.

”Mr. Bai, I’m in Domido, where are you!” The sender was Fei’er.

Seeing it, Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but smile.

At that moment, Fei’er, who was just coming out of the airport, received a reply from Bai Xiaosheng: ”See you in Lagodi.”

Fei’er immediately frowned, spat lightly, and muttered, ”You damn con man!”
