This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”What happened?”

Cao Binghe was by Lan Changhua’s side, supporting him, and hurriedly asked the woman as they approached.

The woman looked at Cao Binghe and Lan Changhua in panic, her voice trembling, ”Doctor, my brother says he’s so dizzy he can’t stand up. He feels awful all over and is so nauseous he constantly feels like vomiting. He was fine before taking the medicine. How come he became worse after taking it? Doctor, please go and have a look. Did my brother take the wrong medicine?”

Hearing this, Cao Binghe was a little flustered, and his grip on Lan Changhua’s arm tightened slightly. Hopefully, nothing serious has actually happened, he thought.

However, Lan Changhua remained calm and asked softly, ”Does your brother have any pain?”

The woman shook her head. ”No, he just said he was too dizzy to sit up and felt terrible all over.”

Lan Changhua, still calm, said, ”Don’t worry, I’ll go and do a check-up. It should be no major problem.”

”But...” The young man’s sister rubbed her hands anxiously, unsure whether or not to urge them.

At that moment, Lan Changhua glanced at Cao Binghe. Cao Binghe’s heart suddenly tightened. Lan Changhua didn’t say anything and went straight to the hospital room.

After the check-up on the Patient, Lan Changhua said lightly, ”Don’t worry, this is a normal reaction after taking the medicine.”

”Normal reaction?” The young man’s sister was puzzled. He was perfectly active before, able to jump and move around. Now, after one bowl of medicine, he can’t even get up. How is that a normal reaction?

Lan Changhua calmly said, ”We’ve already told you about the medicine your brother took. His body will definitely have a period of not being accustomed to it and a process of slow adjustment. Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with him. Once he gets used to it, he’ll gradually adjust, and these adverse reactions will disappear.”

After reassuring the Patient’s family, Lan Changhua, with Cao Binghe’s support, slowly walked out of the hospital room.

Once outside the hospital room, however, Lan Changhua shook off Cao Binghe’s hand, looking unhappy. ”Stop holding me; I’m not so ill that I can’t walk yet.”

Cao Binghe awkwardly moved his hand. He had just been about to offer his arm again but could only lower it sheepishly.

Lan Changhua walked towards Du Heng’s office with his hands behind his back, saying as he went, ”You still lack experience and steadiness. Look at you just now. If you had rushed in anxiously, the Patient’s family would have become anxious, regardless of whether the Patient was okay or not. What if a family member had heart disease or other issues? If your actions caused them to collapse before you finished your check-up on the Patient, what would you do?”

Cao Binghe quickly lowered his head.

Logically, during the period Lan Changhua was absent, he, as an independent attending physician, wouldn’t have made such a mistake. But today, for one thing, the medicine used was indeed very Benz, and considering what Du Heng and Director Wu had said previously, he had to be extra cautious. Secondly, with Lan Changhua by his side, he couldn’t help but lose his composure.

Lan Changhua sighed softly. ”Look at Xiao Du. You two are only about a year apart in age. You need to learn from Xiao Du. As an attending doctor, even if the sky falls, you must first be able to remain calm. If you panic, or appear panicked, it will give the wrong impression to the Patient and their family, which is very bad.”

Cao Binghe nodded weakly. ”I understand, Teacher. I’ll correct my mistakes.”

”I won’t say any more on the matter,” Lan Changhua said slowly. ”However, remember this: if the Patient’s family doesn’t come to us within an hour, remind me. We’ll go do a check-up on the Patient again. Also, while you have time, give me your treatment records from this period. I want to see if you’ve made any progress.”

This kind of task was troublesome, but Cao Binghe was quite happy to do it. For a whole week after that, he tirelessly picked up and dropped off Lan Changhua every day. Whenever he had time, he would be by Lan Changhua’s side, asking questions, as if life had suddenly reverted to how it was half a year ago.

「After a week」

The young man’s condition also showed a significant change. Most notably, his reaction to the medicine after drinking it was much milder; he no longer became unable to get up as soon as he took it.

However, to be honest, since starting the medicine, the young man’s physical condition was clearly not as good as before. Even his cheeks were visibly a full size smaller.

But at this time, neither Du Heng, nor Lan Changhua, nor the Patient and his sister, expressed any dissatisfaction.

Because after waking up each day, the numbness in the young man’s hands and his chest tightness had begun to lessen. Especially the electric shock sensation in his heel—he hadn’t felt that for three days.

Back in the office, Lan Changhua asked Du Heng, ”Xiao Du, what do you think about the Patient’s current situation? Should we change the house?”

Du Heng thought for a moment before asking Lan Changhua in return, ”Professor Lan, you’re more familiar with the Patient. What is your opinion?”

Lan Changhua didn’t answer Du Heng’s question immediately. Instead, he paused in thought for a moment before speaking, ”There’s an old saying: if it’s effective, don’t change the house. Although we haven’t done any check-ups for the Patient recently, his improving condition indicates the tumor must have changed. Since these are positive developments, it means our medication is correct, so there’s no need to alter it.”
