This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Once Ding Yuxue was free again, she simply stretched her arms and waist before asking Du Heng in a soft voice, ”Mr. Du, I miss my son. I want to stay with him.”

Du Heng didn’t respond. The decision wasn’t up to him, so he first turned his gaze to Dr. Liu.

Dr. Liu didn’t hesitate and said directly, ”The emergency room won’t keep patients. Once a patient’s condition is stable, they can be transferred to the relevant department. The patient has a relationship with you, Deputy Director Du, and you are also familiar with the patient’s condition. If there is no problem on your end, I will go and handle the transfer procedures now.”

Du Heng just nodded slightly, then turned his gaze to Ding Zhankui.

Ding Zhankui is a guru; he might not interfere when his girl is undergoing emergency treatment. However, once this phase passes, it’s hard to say whether he would find a specialist more familiar to him for his girl or contact a better hospital.

However, Ding Zhankui was not a meddlesome person. Seeing Du Heng look at him, he said directly, ”Doctor Du, you are an expert in this field and familiar with Yuxue’s and her child’s conditions. You make the decision.”

Since everyone was agreeable, Du Heng immediately nodded and said, ”Then I’ll trouble Dr. Liu. Please handle the procedures. Transfer Professor Ding to our Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department.”

Dr. Liu immediately nodded and then quickly stepped out of the cubicle.

In his opinion, Ding Yuxue’s situation was absolutely one of the most troublesome. Although it wasn’t life-threatening, it was indeed tormenting for the doctors involved. Now that someone was willing to take over, he was, of course, relieved.

After Director Liu left, Du Heng thought for a moment before directly addressing Ding Yuxue. ”Professor Ding, you already know the situation. Let’s be frank now. Your current condition is very unstable, especially due to the continuous stimulation you’ve undergone. Your mental state is very fragile. From now on, you need to think more about your son, think about the happy times with your child, and maintain a relaxed and joyful mood. If you dwell on sad and unbearable things for a long time, keeping your emotions in a state of sorrow, then you will have another mental breakdown and could develop a mental illness.”

After saying this, Du Heng added in an extremely serious tone, ”Listen carefully. What I just said will definitely happen; it’s not just a probability. So, for the sake of your child, for yourself, and for your parents, you must try to restrain and adjust yourself. You have to find ways to make yourself happy. If there truly is a next time, I can tell you unequivocally that not even medicinal stone can save you.”

When Du Heng said these words, Ding Zhankui, who was beside him, was terrified. He was afraid that Du Heng’s words were too harsh and would frighten his girl again.

But Du Heng didn’t think so. The very fact that Ding Yuxue could regain consciousness indicated that her mental resilience was quite good. Therefore, her main problem wasn’t being dominated by fear, but rather being enveloped by prolonged sorrow.

”Of all the eighty thousand characters in the world, only ’love’ is the most wounding.

Humans suffer three thousand maladies in life, yet only lovesickness is incurable.

Once a guest by the oil lamp, seeking detachment, now lost in the world of mortals, intoxicated by turbid wine.”

Love—her feelings for her husband—that was the fatal blow for Ding Yuxue.

And Ding Yuxue’s reaction was indeed as Du Heng had anticipated. She didn’t become hysterical because of Du Heng’s directness. Her mood dipped slightly for a moment, but she quickly readjusted her emotions. She even smiled at Du Heng and said, ”Don’t worry, Mr. Du. I will control myself. Even for my child’s sake, I won’t allow myself to break down.”

Du Heng breathed a sigh of relief. ”Take it Easy, keep your mood light. This is good for you and for your child. Your son is very well-behaved and sensible. Think about him more, and your world will gain more color.”

”Thank you, Mr. Du.” Ding Yuxue smiled again, but tears uncontrollably trickled from the corners of her eyes. After she gently wiped away her tears, she looked at Du Heng with utmost sincerity and said three words, ”I’m sorry.”

Du Heng pursed his lips, a slight smile touching the corner of his mouth.

Looking back now, it seemed that between him and Ding Yuxue, he had always held the upper hand. Every confrontation had been initiated by him. And Ding Yuxue, who appeared boisterous, fierce, and domineering like a shrew, had undeniably always been at a disadvantage. Now, for the person who had always been in the weaker position to apologize to him... Du Heng found it inexplicably amusing. For a moment, he felt this world was utterly false.

”We’re colleagues; let’s not dwell on the past. Besides, I was also in the wrong before. If I had explained things clearly back then, you might not have become so angry. I should be the one apologizing to you.”

Du Heng sincerely apologized to Ding Yuxue. It was clear that upon hearing his apology, Ding Yuxue looked as if a weight had been lifted, a sense of understanding and relief washing over her.

”Alright, you chat with Mr. Ding for a while. I’m going to find the nurses in our department. Then we’ll get you transferred so you can be with your child properly.”

”Thank you.”

”We’re all on the same side; no need for such formalities.”

Du Heng then also left the cubicle. He stood outside making a phone call, and overheard Ding Yuxue and Ding Zhankui’s conversation from inside.

”Dad, can you ask Mom to go home? I’m afraid I’ll start arguing with her again.”
