This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After sending the Gu family father and daughter away, Wu Shengnan, her mood somewhat low, took Du Heng’s hand and asked, ”Husband, can you handle it?”

Du Heng smiled gently and answered evasively, ”She doesn’t get along with you. Now that she’s like this, do you really feel sorry for her?”

Wu Shengnan glared at Du Heng and lightly punched his arm. ”Although Gu likes to annoy me, to me, it’s just harmless childishness. Now that she has become like this, if she can’t be cured, her life will be ruined. She has decades ahead of her. How can a girl in her early twenties live like this? I’m not a cold-blooded butcher. Seeing her in this state, how could I not feel sorry for her?”

Du Heng sighed and said calmly, ”If it can’t be treated, her life might be a bit short; she won’t have decades of pain.”

Wu Shengnan was stunned upon hearing this. After a long moment, she asked Du Heng naively, ”What do you mean, Husband? Are you saying that after a long time, her face will heal on its own?”

Du Heng shook his head with a smile. ”You’ve really become scatterbrained since getting pregnant. You can even misunderstand such simple words.” He then told Wu Shengnan the actual situation, and her eyes immediately widened.

Du Heng patted Wu Shengnan’s hand. ”Alright, don’t worry. I already have some ideas, but I need to think about it carefully. Tonight, I might go to bed late.”

Wu Shengnan hurriedly said, ”Okay, okay, go ahead with your work. I won’t bother you.”

Saying this, she enthusiastically pushed Du Heng into the new Study room.

「The next morning」

Just as Du Heng started the outpatient service, the first to arrive were the Gu father and daughter.

”Director Du, we’re here.” This time, accompanying Gu was not only her father, Mr. Gu, but also a middle-aged woman.

However, seeing that this woman somewhat resembled Mr. Gu, Du Heng guessed that she might be his sister.

But that didn’t matter. Du Heng didn’t make small talk with them but asked to see Gu’s face again.

After some pinching and pulling, Du Heng firmed up his plan and then said to the few people before him, ”Considering Gu’s current situation, I thought about it all last night. To restore activity to her facial nerves and meridians, there’s only one feasible method: fighting poison with poison.”

Du Heng had expected Mr. Gu to ask him how to fight poison with poison after he finished speaking. He didn’t expect Mr. Gu to be such a decisive person. He stated directly, ”Director Du, I don’t understand medical matters; you’re the expert in this field. Just proceed according to your methods. If there’s anything we need to cooperate with, just tell me, and I will do my utmost to get it done.”

Hearing their ready agreement, Du Heng didn’t bother with further explanations and immediately said, ”In that case, I’ll arrange for Gu to be hospitalized. This treatment requires some special methods, along with acupuncture, massage, and Decoction medicine, so hospitalization will be more convenient.”

Mr. Gu nodded without hesitation. ”No problem, Director Du. Whatever is convenient for you, we’ll follow your arrangements.”

Du Heng wasted no more words and directly wrote out the Admission Form. When he handed it to Mr. Gu, he added, ”Mr. Gu, please go ahead and handle the admission for Gu first. Afterward, you need to find and buy an iron.”

”An iron?” For the first time since entering, Mr. Gu looked puzzled.

His first thought upon hearing ”iron” was of the branding irons from TV dramas, the kind heated in a fire and used to torture criminals.

At this moment, the woman beside him suddenly spoke, ”An iron? Director Du, are you talking about a clothes iron?”

Du Heng slapped his forehead. ”Yes, yes, we call it an iron in my hometown, so I just said ’iron’.”

The woman smiled at Mr. Gu. ”You don’t have to worry about that. I have one at home. I’ll ask the nanny to bring it over.”

Before Mr. Gu could look pleased, Du Heng quickly added, ”I’m sorry, I didn’t make it clear just now. I meant an old-fashioned iron. It’s the kind with an iron lump and a handle for holding, which can be placed directly on a stove or fire to heat. If the one you have at home uses water or electricity, it won’t work.”

The woman now looked troubled as well. ”That kind of thing is probably hard to find nowadays, isn’t it?”

Du Heng sighed lightly. Indeed, such a thing was hard to find. If it were easy, he wouldn’t have asked the patient’s family to search for it.

Du Heng thought for a moment. ”It doesn’t necessarily have to be that exact old-fashioned type. A piece of iron, two or three centimeters thick, with a handle welded on top so it’s easy to hold, would work. Remember, it must be annealed iron, not pig iron, and it must be completely free of rust.”

After Du Heng finished speaking this time, Mr. Gu gritted his teeth. ”Alright, I’ll have someone look for it later.”

Du Heng nodded. ”Alright, then go and admit Gu to the hospital first. After I finish the outpatient service in the morning, I’ll check the situation in the afternoon. If possible, we’ll start the treatment directly.”

”Thank you for your trouble, Director Du.” Mr. Gu then left the Hospital room with Gu and the other woman.

After they left, Du Heng wasted no more time and had his assistant call in the next patient.

Cao Binghe was just about to start his ward round with Director Wu. He hadn’t even joined the group for the round when the front desk called, informing him that a hospitalized patient needed his attention.
