This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Facial drooping? Du Heng suddenly had a bad feeling. What does drooping mean? Loss of muscle elasticity.

Listening to the middle-aged man, Du Heng turned to look at this Classmate Gu. But what was frustrating was that the woman never took off her silk scarf, nor did she show any intention of doing so. If Wu Shengnan hadn’t been holding Du Heng’s Arm, he truly would have felt the urge to get up and leave.

Who does she think she is? So pretentious. Why does it feel like I’m the one begging them for treatment? The anger from that young man with the glioma a few days ago had just subsided, and now it was slowly being stirred up again by the woman before him. Du Heng had now figured it out: when it came to seeing patients, if they came, he’d treat them properly. If they had issues or complaints, then there was no need for him to get too invested. They weren’t family or friends; why offer a warm gesture only to be met with a cold reception?

As the middle-aged man continued his account, Du Heng, after glancing at Classmate Gu again, also began to speak desultorily. He asked who had treated the stroke, how it was treated, what methods were used, and what medicine had been administered. He also inquired about the subsequent Acupuncture treatment: which acupoints were used, what kind of needles, whether they used homemade moxa columns or store-bought ones, if any massage was performed, and so on.

Sure, he asked a lot of questions, but were they useful? Not at all. Her face had ended up drooping from the treatment; asking about those erroneous treatment details was pointless.

But Du Heng figured, if they wanted to make small talk and spout nonsense, then let them. Anyway, he had taken the day off. Moreover, he’d been at this School for some time but had never visited the campus cafe or seen what the Students were like after classes. This was a perfect opportunity to have coffee and chat with Wu Shengnan, especially since there were people willing to chat with him. Why not enjoy it?

However, this chat didn’t continue for more than a few minutes before the middle-aged man, who was doing the talking, sensed something was amiss. According to the normal thought process and procedure, after he mentioned his daughter’s facial Muscle drooping, the doctor should have offered to examine the specific situation. But Du Heng kept beating around the bush and wouldn’t address it, which started to make the middle-aged man anxious. Once anxious, he noticed the problem. Initially, Wu Shengnan and Du Heng would occasionally glance at his daughter, but now, both of them were looking only at him, chatting desultorily.

Seeing that the middle-aged man had fallen silent, Du Heng lost the Mind to continue chatting. He stood up and said with a smile, ”Mr. Gu, I understand what you’ve told me. I’ll go back and give it some thought. I’ll also help you contact my seniors and ask them if they have any solutions. I’m really sorry about today; I’ve been busy moving and it’s been a bit hectic. Next time, I’ll pick a time and treat you to a Meal, Mr. Gu.”

After he finished, Wu Shengnan also stood up, offered a smiling farewell, and then left directly, linking her Arm with Du Heng’s.

The middle-aged man’s expression stiffened for a moment, but his sense of propriety still made him smile and say goodbye to Du Heng and Wu Shengnan.

Once Du Heng and Wu Shengnan had disappeared from sight, the middle-aged man’s face turned grim as he sat back down in his seat. His face remained dark, and he was silent for a long time.

Who did he think he was? When had he ever been slighted like this on his own turf?

Yet today, he had been slighted, and there was nothing he could do about those two.

The Young man on the Sofa, however, took a sip of the coffee In hand and then looked at Classmate Gu, who was wrapped in her silk scarf, with a smirk. ”Sis, why bother? If you’re so concerned about saving face, you shouldn’t have come. Dad was humbling himself, chatting with them for ages, and I was running around like an errand boy, carrying things for them. And you? They looked at you several times, and you just couldn’t bear to take off that silk scarf of yours? What’s the deal? Do they have to beg you or something? Get things straight. You’re the one begging them for Treatment. And you need to be even clearer about why you ended up like this! Saving face at all costs just leads to unnecessary sufferings, and you had to drag Dad and me into it. What was the point?”

Saying this, he took another shallow sip of coffee, then gently took a piece of paper and spat it out. ”This is instant coffee, isn’t it? It’s awful. Not only is it terribly sour, but it also has an astringent taste.”

The Young man then stood up. ”Alright, Dad. I’ve done what I was supposed to do. I’m off to find my friends.”

With that, he simply got up and left.

The middle-aged man didn’t even raise his head in response.

After waiting for quite a while, he wanted to say a few words of reprimand to his daughter. But when he turned and saw the woman still tightly wrapped in her silk scarf, he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

Du Heng and Wu Shengnan went to the front desk, paid the bill, and then left the cafe directly.

”Darling, do you have any objections to how I handled that?” Du Heng asked Wu Shengnan with a smile.

Wu Shengnan shook her head lightly and chuckled. ”No, I think you handled it very well. Don’t mind that Mr. Gu seemed to say a lot; from beginning to end, he never actually said he wanted you to take a look. And my Classmate, on the other hand, kept her scarf on and wouldn’t remove it. I don’t know if she was unwilling for you to see, or if she didn’t trust you. But regardless of which it is, they should be the ones asking us. For us to be the ones to bring it up first—that just wouldn’t be right.”

”Ah, it’s my darling who understands me.” Du Heng chuckled and patted Wu Shengnan’s hand. ”Sister-in-law took a Car and went back first. So, where should we go now?”

”It’s rare for both of us to have a day off. Why don’t we just wander around your School campus?”

”That sounds good. To be honest, I haven’t had a proper look at the School scenery myself.” Du Heng took Wu Shengnan’s hand, and they strolled slowly through the campus.
