This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Hearing the conversation in the hallway, Du Heng couldn’t deny the coldness he felt.

He didn’t want to listen anymore and turned to return to his office, leaving the young man to deal with his own problem.

His own enthusiasm had only led to such an assessment.

Pathetic.

But as soon as he turned, he came face-to-face with the young man who had just walked up.

”Doctor Du? What are you doing here?” the young man asked, looking at Du Heng in surprise.

Du Heng glanced at the young man. At that moment, the sounds of hurried shoving and footsteps came from behind him.

”It’s nothing. I just wanted to ask how your discussion is going,” Du Heng said indifferently. ”By the way, our hospital isn’t very proficient in this area. You should go ask at other hospitals.”

After saying that, Du Heng stepped aside, let the young man pass, and went directly to his office.

At this time, the sound of the young man’s sister complaining to her man echoed from behind.

But Du Heng had absolutely no interest in listening.

Back in his office, Du Heng took a couple of deep breaths and immediately put the matter out of his mind. He picked up the phone and dialed Kang Zhirong.

However, Kang Zhirong himself didn’t know what Jin Zan was talking about; Du Heng’s questions left him with a head full of question marks.

Du Heng promptly hung up and called Liao Quansheng, who would know more.

”Liao, why didn’t you inform me about such a big matter?” As soon as the call connected, Du Heng’s tone was very unpleasant, accusatory even.

On the other end, Liao Quansheng was silent for a moment before saying, ”So, you’ve found out too?”

”Liao, are you saying I shouldn’t know? A box of medicine increased in price by fifteen yuan—what were you thinking?” Du Heng said angrily. ”When we set the price, we had an agreement.

Our medicine was able to spread throughout the province and successfully open up the market thanks to Director Zhuo’s efforts.

We also promised Director Zhuo that we wouldn’t raise the price. Now that you’ve done this, how am I supposed to explain it to Director Zhuo?”

Liao Quansheng on the other end was silent for a while again. ”You’re talking about this? It’s a minor issue. Why the panic?”

”Is this a small matter?” Du Heng was getting angry. ”Furthermore, the efficacy of the two medicines has been reduced by half. What’s going on with that?”

Liao Quansheng sighed. ”Du, I’m actively working to resolve both issues.

But they’re both minor things; don’t get upset.”

”My friend, this is medicine we’re talking about, surely you understand that? How can this be a minor issue? How can I possibly not be anxious?”

”First, the price increase hasn’t been implemented yet. Trust me, our medicine will not have a price increase,” Liao Quansheng assured Du Heng seriously. ”As for your second concern...”

Liao Quansheng paused for a moment before continuing, ”The issue with the efficacy is my responsibility. It was due to my inadequate supervision; a batch of substandard medicine ingredients was used, and that’s what led to the reduced efficacy.

Rest assured, I’ve received feedback on this and have already taken measures.”

Hearing this, Du Heng’s anger subsided a bit. ”So, tell me, what do you plan to do?”

”You actually don’t trust me?” Liao Quansheng sighed over the phone, then continued, ”Regarding the last batch of medicine that used substandard medicine ingredients, I’m currently contacting everyone to recall and destroy it all.”

”Will the businesses and hospitals incur any losses?”

”Of course not. If they suffered losses, who would help me sell the medicine later?” Liao Quansheng said helplessly. ”The previous batch will be recalled, and new medicine will be supplied. However much is recalled, I’ll replace that amount for them.”

”That sounds about right.” After listening to Liao Quansheng’s explanation, Du Heng’s heart qi calmed down, but another doubt surfaced in his mind.

”Liao, I’m familiar with your way of doing things, and you’ve been in the medicine ingredients business for over a decade. How could you possibly receive substandard medicine ingredients? And how did they make it onto the production line?

This isn’t your style, Liao.

Liao, is something wrong with your company?”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, Liao Quansheng gave a wry laugh. ”You really do have an uncanny knack for seeing things.”

Du Heng was startled and quickly pressed, ”Really? What happened?”

Liao Quansheng didn’t speak. The sound of footsteps came through the phone, and after a moment, a door closing. Only then did he say, ”What else could it be? Someone has taken a fancy to this business, of course.”

”Tell me the details.”

”Do you remember when I first took over the pharmaceutical company? I brought in a few influential connections, didn’t I?”

Du Heng paused for a moment, thinking hard before recalling that Liao Quansheng did seem to have mentioned something like that, about finding the young master of some family.

Not wasting any more time, Liao Quansheng directly explained his current predicament. ”That’s how it is,” he said. ”They think my 51% ownership stake is too large, and they’re envious of the increasing success of our two medicines.

As for the medicine ingredients issue, a shareholder got involved, just trying to make a quick buck.”

After hesitating for a moment, Du Heng asked, ”Can you handle this?”

Liao Quansheng suddenly laughed. ”Don’t worry. My connections might not be enough, but my old man is still around, isn’t he? It definitely won’t be a problem.”

Just as Liao Quansheng finished speaking, the sound of knocking came through the phone. Liao Quansheng quickly said, ”Alright, I’ll handle the matter you mentioned. I definitely won’t let it damage your reputation.

I have to hang up now; my appointment is here.”
