This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, to treat the tumor, the medicines used are very strong and potent, which presents many uncontrollable factors for delicate areas like the spinal cord.”

At this point, Du Heng stopped talking.

Everyone was smart enough to understand what Du Heng wanted to convey, so no one tactlessly insisted on pressing him to say things that would be hard to accept.

Seeing that the Neurosurgery Department had no solution, and Director Wen was practically telling them to leave, Du Heng didn’t linger. He brought the young man and his group to Orthopedics.

But after Director Wen’s explanation, they didn’t hold out much hope.

And the result was just as they had expected.

The Orthopedics Department Director was surprised that Du Heng could diagnose the lesion with his bare hands and offered some compliments. Beyond that, the rest of what he said was almost identical to Director Wen’s words.

The final conclusion was that the surgery was high-risk, difficult to cure completely, prone to recurrence, and expensive. He suggested they turn to traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

When they returned to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department, the young man’s sister was so weak she could barely walk, and her brother-in-law had to help her into Du Heng’s office.

Was there no way out? Did he have to take this on himself?

Du Heng fell silent, not knowing what to say to the group.

After a while, Du Heng suddenly remembered someone and hurriedly said to the young man’s sister and the others, ”You all wait in my office for a moment; I’ll go make a phone call and ask.”

Du Heng then left his office and went into Director Wu’s office instead.

Director Wu was currently busy with the outpatient service, so his office was empty and perfect for making a phone call.

The person Du Heng thought of was Jin Zan, his old classmate and good friend. This bald man was a genuine expert in spinal surgery, and he might have a solution.

”Hey, bro, what made you think of calling me?” In the video, Jin Zan’s large bald head was shining brightly. ”By the way, I have something to discuss with you.”

Du Heng was taken aback. ”What’s the matter?”

Jin Zan glanced back, then left his office and walked to the far end of the corridor. He lowered his voice and said, ”Two things, but actually, it’s just one thing.”

Seeing Jin Zan’s demeanor, Du Heng couldn’t help but become serious. This didn’t sound like good news. ”What happened?”

”Do you still remember those two medicines of yours? The ones that are practically golden geese for you?”

”Isn’t that obvious? Of course, I know. One is the Bone Renewal Paste, and the other is the Scar Removal Ointment.”

Jin Zan’s voice grew even softer. ”Bro, I have no objection to you wanting to make money. After all, the efficacy of your medicines is proven. Raising the price by one or two yuan, or even five yuan, would be fine. But to raise it by fifteen yuan all at once—isn’t that a bit much?”

Du Heng was dumbfounded. Is this true?

Although he had only transferred the technology and didn’t participate in the product’s operation, he should have been notified about this.

But up until now, neither Liao Quansheng nor Kang Zhirong had mentioned this to him, which was problematic.

Du Heng frowned, his mood worsening. ”Is this already decided? I’m afraid this price increase won’t be approved, right?”

Just when Du Heng thought the matter was settled, Jin Zan suddenly shook his head. ”It hasn’t been decided yet. They said it will start next month.”

Du Heng was speechless, glaring at Jin Zan’s large bald head, tempted to give him a couple of big slaps.

”Hurry up and tell me the second thing. After you’re done, I have something to ask you.”

”The second thing is, did you change the formulas for your two medicines?”

”No, why?”

Jin Zan shook his head, glanced around, and whispered, ”Bro, since last month, the medicines I’ve been using from you have significantly weakened in efficacy. My previous patients, who used your Bone Renewal Paste, usually saw results in about four to five days. But this time, for all patients using the new medicine, their recovery at the same stage was about a week slower than before. And listen carefully, this applies to *all* patients who used the new medicine.”

At this, Du Heng’s expression became serious. Jin Zan continued, ”The same goes for your Scar Removal Ointment; the effect has also been reduced by about half.”

”Alright, I’ll call and ask about this later. If there really is a problem, I’ll stop working with them.”

”You better hurry. I also called Liao, but he was evasive and wouldn’t tell me anything, just kept saying that it will be handled.”

Du Heng felt very displeased at this point.

Other things were negotiable, and even the price increase didn’t make him overly angry. But the issue of the medicines’ declining efficacy truly irritated him.

”I’ll get to the bottom of this. Thanks, bro.”

Jin Zan rubbed his completely bald head and said with a chuckle, ”We’re brothers; no need for thanks. Oh, right, you said you had something to ask me?”

Only then did Du Heng remember the purpose of his call. He quickly explained the young man’s situation to Jin Zan. ”Bro, you’re an expert in high spinal surgery. Do you think there’s a possibility of surgical treatment in this situation?”

Jin Zan took a deep breath, his face contorting. ”Man, how did you end up with such a patient? This is an incredibly difficult situation. I don’t have experience in this area myself, but I’ve seen our Deputy Director perform such a surgery once, and it was extremely difficult.”
