The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 549: Chapter 549: Your Majesty, You Have Quite a Heavy Taste

How can it not be said that Song Ci is the person Empress Dowager Wang trusts the most? Look at her; as soon as she arrives, within the time it takes to drink a few cups of tea, she has already managed to dissipate Empress Dowager Wang’s anger, making her beam with joy.

Gurgle gurgle.

Empress Dowager Wang felt a little embarrassed, touching her abdomen with a warm look on her face.

Song Ci understood and looked towards Lian Qiao not far away, loudly instructing, ”Aunt Lian Qiao, go prepare some food, preferably something liquid. I came in a rush and am a bit hungry, here I overstep in front of the Lady. Lady, one does not have a good appetite eating alone, so would you accompany me for a bite?”

Empress Dowager Wang: ”...”

This ladder is too easy to climb down.

The Cining Palace had already prepared a meal, and with Lian Qiao’s summon, it was quickly brought in. There was blood bird’s nest and shredded chicken porridge, exquisite steamed buns, and a few refreshing snacks.

Song Ci personally ladled the porridge and handed it to Empress Dowager Wang, seemingly with an attitude of if you don’t eat, I won’t eat.

Empress Dowager Wang took it over effortlessly.

Lian Qiao, who was assisting with food arrangement, breathed a sigh of relief, looked at Eunuch Hai, and the latter smiled broadly as he bowed and withdrew.

Empress Dowager Wang saw this and snorted lightly, but said nothing and quietly consumed her porridge.

After eating, warmth spread in her stomach. Empress Dowager Wang lounged on the beauty couch, sipping tea, and said to Song Ci, ”A Ci, I just love talking with you, you’re a sensible person.”

”Lady, you are also a sensible person, sometimes it’s just that, being in the situation, it’s hard to see clearly for a moment. If you were outside the situation, you’d see even clearer than me.” Song Ci complimented with a smile, ”So don’t be angry anymore, summon the spirit you had back when you dared to reprimand the late Emperor during morning court, see who would dare to point fingers at you?”

Ah, the Empress Dowager, the noblest person in the world, with the reigning Emperor as her biological son, no matter how outlandish her actions, she has her son, the Emperor, to shield her, what’s there to be angry about.

Empress Dowager Wang reproached, ”If I truly acted wilfully, those Imperial Censors would probably submit another memorial against me to death.”

”Let them submit! They are just a bunch of well-fed individuals with nothing better to do, even trifling matters become memorials. Do you think the Emperor pays them any heed? When you get really fed up, pretend to be sick with anger, claim they want to push you to the brink, see if they dare continue?” Song Ci sneered at the Imperial Censors, saying, ”People fear those with audacity, the Imperial Censors are stubborn and hard-headed, see what happens when they encounter someone audacious?”

Nobody dares carry the stigma of forcing the Empress Dowager to death.

The officials of the Imperial Censorate: Are you mad? Did we offend you for you to sow discord like this?

”A Ci, you’re just mischievous.” Empress Dowager Wang was amused and laughed heartily.

Song Ci also chuckled and then curiously asked, ”Lady, you often claim that Princess Consort Ji is a wicked consort; is she really so bewitchingly beautiful that she brings ruin to the people?”

”Haven’t you met her?” Empress Dowager Wang was taken aback and then realized, ”Ah, I forgot, you weren’t in the capital for those years, of course, you haven’t seen her. But you say her beauty is enough to devastate a country? Haha.”

Song Ci raised an eyebrow, noticing that Empress Dowager Wang’s smile held some indescribable ambiguity.

”Lian Qiao, go to Huixiang Palace and fetch the portrait of Princess Consort Ji.”

”Yes, Lady.”

Song Ci wanted to object, but intuition told her that Princess Consort Ji had quite the unique allure.

Lian Qiao quickly returned, holding a scroll.

”Let’s allow A Ci to admire the beauty of Princess Consort Ji.” Empress Dowager Wang, for once, showed a bit of nastiness.

Swish.

Lian Qiao opened the scroll and spread it before Song Ci.

Pfft.

Song Ci nearly sprayed her tea, the consort who was known for being so alluring she astounded the late Emperor?

Oh late Emperor, your taste was a bit heavy, favoring the type akin to the pleasingly plump Sister Yang?
