The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 529: After the revision: Chapter 529 Conferred Maid Following the Trend

Consort Zhou handed the Jade Skin Cream to Mama Li, her face full of pity and self-reproach.

”Princess, such precious stuff, let’s not waste it on this old servant’s face.” Mama Li said, holding the Jade Skin Cream.

”Waste? Aren’t ointments meant to be used? If you go out with this face, won’t it be my face that’s disgraced?” Consort Zhou chided angrily.

Mama Li felt a bit guilty: ”It’s this old servant’s fast mouth that gave that Bai woman a chance to humiliate you.”

”You were only defending me; it’s Bai Xianxian who is overstepping.” Consort Zhou ground her teeth in anger.

Mama Li leaned in closer and whispered, ”These few slaps are nothing. What’s important is she’s lost her backer, it’s worth it.”

Consort Zhou felt a slight stir in her heart, her mouth twitching slightly.

”Let’s not speak of this again; it was all an accident, that child was just unfortunate not to make it to our Prince Mansion.” She took a sip of tea, her voice calm.

Mama Li chuckled, ”Exactly, just an accident.”

As mistress and servant were about to continue, a maid came in to report that the Nanny from Consort Fan’s side was here to deliver an oral decree.

Consort Zhou was startled and stood up quickly.

Mama Li was full of trepidation, knowing how that person disliked her Princess, and given what happened today, this decree likely wasn’t good news.

As expected.

Mama Li watched Consort Zhou’s increasingly pale face, concerned.

”...That is the extent of the Lady’s decree.” The Nanny looked at Consort Zhou and said, ”The Lady is eager for a grandson, and more so for a legitimate grandson. She hopes the Princess can fulfill her wishes soon.”

”I humbly abide by the Lady’s decree.” Consort Zhou respectfully bowed down.

The Nanny nodded, executed a curtsey, and turned to leave.

Mama Li personally saw her out and, upon returning, saw Consort Zhou sitting in a daze on the Arhat bed, her heart aching.

”Princess, don’t take it too hard, they’re just two lowly maids...”

Consort Zhou laughed mockingly, ”How can they be the same? They were bestowed by my mother-in-law and are equivalent to Noble Concubines. How can they be compared to someone of Nong Qin’s status?”

The two maids bestowed were by no means ordinary bed servants; they were akin to deities, too light to hold or press heavily.

Mama Li remained silent for a while before saying, ”No matter what, they can’t surpass you. Princess, with women being sent one after another into this mansion, you should focus on conceiving the young prince soon. Over at the Pear Garden, she’s in her first postpartum month, there’s a chance.”

Consort Zhou gritted her teeth and nodded.

At the Pear Garden, Consort Bai was infuriated when she heard she had two new sisters, smashing a roomful of things and crying all night.

...

Consort Fan gave two beautiful maids to Prince Zhou. Everyone in the other residences knew her intentions, and naturally, they were unwilling to be left behind.

Thus, Prince Xiao’s Mansion, Prince Wu’s Mansion, and Prince Yan’s Mansion all simultaneously received two beautiful maids, sparking a lively competition.

”Now every Prince Mansion’s wives and concubines can gather for a game of Ma Diao, right?” Song Ci fiddled with a few potatoes and said sarcastically, ”Consort Fan is probably stirring public anger.”

If it wasn’t led by her, the rest of the palaces wouldn’t follow suit.

Nanny Gong said, ”Who dares speak against her when she provokes public anger?”

It’s a usual thing for palace concubines to reward beautiful maids, especially if they’re for their sons’ mansions. Who could say anything?

Historically, there have been some arrogant favored consorts who, relying on the Emperor’s favor, even rewarded beautiful maids to certain ministers.

”True.” Song Ci scraped a tiny sprout hole on a potato with a fingernail, ”The miserable ones are never the mothers-in-law, but the daughters-in-law!”

Nanny Gong: ”...”

Song Ci gazed at the sprout hole, a flash of inspiration struck her mind, and she slapped the table, ”I remember now!”
