The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Unworthy, Unwilling

Song Zi is not foolish. With Song Lingsu’s family background and character laid out there, she naturally knows that he is a perfect match chosen from thousands.

But she also knows that there are countless people eyeing Song Lingsu, and their family backgrounds are by no means comparable to the Lin Family.

Just think, if Song Lingsu had better choices, why would he choose a mere Assistant Governor’s daughter?

Even if he was willing, what about his parents?

Madam Song, coming from a prestigious family, is a person with the highest standards. You can tell just by the way she selects a son-in-law.

The wife of the eldest son must be carefully chosen, someone who can shoulder responsibilities and handle the duties of the main lady of the family.

Lin family’s daughter does not qualify.

Thus, Song Zi never entertains unrealistic dreams; the idea of cousins marrying to strengthen familial ties might be feasible but is impossible for Zhihui in her family.

She not only harbors no such thoughts but also dares not let Madam Song think she does, otherwise the goodwill and rapport she painstakingly cultivated over the years would be in vain.

”Madam, if the Young Master himself favors our young lady, childhood sweethearts, then there’s no concept of matching or not, is there?” Nanny Qin whispered.

Song Zi coldly glanced at her: ”Even if it’s so, do you think Zhihui would fare well? Can it really happen? My sister-in-law and elder brother would never permit it. Just look at what happened with Third Brother and them back then?”

Nanny Qin froze.

In the past, when Third Lord and Third Madam insisted on being together, those two years, Song Ci mostly didn’t show much goodwill. Only now does it seem like things have changed, but they are still not as close to him as those legitimate daughters-in-law.

Song Zi said, ”Don’t ever mention such things again. If my sister-in-law hears, it will do more harm than good, and the feelings will fade.”

”My husband is just an Assistant Governor, and I am merely a concubine’s daughter. To have the life I do today and stand my ground in the Lin Family, I solely rely on my brothers and the Song Family.” Song Zi gave a bitter smile: ”Once my sister-in-law learns of my wishful thinking, do you think I can still hold face in the Song Family?”

”Madam...”

”Nanny Qin, I naturally know the advantages of a prestigious family, but with such a disparity, it’s often the women who suffer. I would rather find her a match of equal status. With a maternal family like the Song Family, she would have support and not suffer too much. But if she were to marry someone like Su’er and faced grievances, how could we stand up for her?”

Nanny Qin’s face flushed with embarrassment: ”Old servant cannot see as clearly as Madam.”

Song Zi smirked self-deprecatingly: ”Seeing clearly is a skill honed from observing words and expressions since childhood. Being a concubine’s daughter, I am fated to look at others’ expressions to conduct myself.”

Nanny Qin felt a pang of sadness, slapping her own mouth: ”It’s my fault, I shouldn’t bring up Madam’s painful past.”

”It’s nothing, just don’t mention it again in the future to avoid unnecessary trouble.” Song Zi sighed: ”My husband still has to rely on my elder brother.”

Nanny Qin felt a chill in her heart and quickly agreed.

The Lin Family has more than two young ladies; more importantly, there are two young masters, who truly are the foundation of the family’s status. The rise of the Lin Family itself is more crucial than anything, much like the Song Family at present.

The master and servant were whispering together, unaware that there was a slender figure quietly retreating under the window.

Outside Xiangzhang Garden, Lin Zhihui stood there dazed, tears falling like broken beads.

Not suitable?

She recalled the gentle and noble young man, remembering how he politely and warmly greeted her as cousin Zhihui.

So, he was someone untouchable.

Lin Zhihui lightly bit her lip, eyes showing unwillingness.
