The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 542: Chapter 542 Sisters-in-law

Song Zi was so furious she nearly died on the spot.

She never expected that her eldest daughter would be so bold, openly delivering some High School Talisman Purse to Song Lingsu. Didn’t she know the impropriety of exchanging private gifts?

This was truly audacious to the extreme.

And this happened within the Prime Minister’s Mansion; how did that foolish girl manage to do such a thing without being discovered by Madam Song?

As soon as she heard about what happened in the garden, Song Zi knew her eldest daughter had caused trouble, and she rushed to the main courtyard to confess to Madam Song.

Upon hearing Madam Song’s unemotional voice, Song Zi knew things were not good, so she walked in with a bitter face, saying she had failed in educating her daughter.

”...I always remember my sister-in-law’s words that as women, we must know to be reserved. Especially in families like ours, we must be proper and correct. I dare not forget for a moment, and have been teaching the children the same way, because my sister-in-law is noble, and it’s never wrong to listen to you.”

Madam Song: ”...”

She started with such high praise and admiration, could she refuse to accept it?

Song Zi sighed, ”With many children, naturally, the eldest gets neglected. I never thought that little Hui’er would forget my teachings, thinking that close relationships among siblings allow for casual behavior. But she does not realize that by age seven, boys and girls should not sit together at the same table, even between siblings, proper conduct must be observed. How could she casually give away a purse?”

She took out that purse, extracted a talisman from it, and handed it to Madam Song, saying, ”Sister-in-law, this talisman is actually something I got for Su’er when I took them to the temple to fulfill a vow, hoping for his success in high school, with no other intention, just a token of my affection as an aunt.”

Madam Song glanced at the talisman, took it, and said, ”You are considerate.”

Peering at her expression, Song Zi said, ”Sister-in-law, it’s because of my neglect that Hui’er behaved improperly. I will certainly discipline her harshly.”

Madam Song said blandly, ”Youths are inclined to have affections, and girls tend to develop feelings. This is common human nature. Ah Zi, do not be too harsh on her. Young girls need to be guided slowly, and some principles must be explained thoroughly.”

Song Zi’s hair stood on end on her back, and she reluctantly said, ”Sister-in-law, you are right.”

”Actually, marrying within the family can also be good. I’ve thought about it too. My elder sister-in-law’s family has a girl, talented and skilled in managing household affairs, willing to be betrothed to our Su’er.” Madam Song sighed, ”But Su’er is the legitimate eldest son. Regarding his marriage, even as his mother, I cannot have complete say. Your elder brother has other plans.”

Song Zi immediately said, ”Su’er is an outstanding person, and as the legitimate eldest son of the Song family, his wife must be selected with great care. I understand this.”

”As long as you understand.” Madam Song took a sip of tea.

Song Zi continued, ”Actually, our Song family now is flourishing with prosperity. My elder brother holds the position of Prime Minister, and soon the third brother will be transferred back. Hence, our in-laws have become desirable connections. I won’t keep it from you, but many families have been inquiring about Zhihui and the others. I’ve discussed it with their father, and it’s all thanks to our elder brothers’ goodwill, thinking to find a suitable family among them to establish a good match.”

Madam Song raised an eyebrow.

”Sister-in-law, you are a perceptive person. I trust your judgment, and when the time comes, I must ask for your help to evaluate.”

Upon hearing this, Madam Song understood that the other party was expressing their sincerity and that the Lin family did not have unrealistic expectations. Recognizing this, she said, ”If you invite me, how could I decline to assist you?”

Hearing this, Song Zi let out a breath of relief.
