The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 523: Chapter 523: A Bucket of Dog’s Blood

Did Prince Zhou and Prince Xiao almost fight?

No, they already fought. Prince Zhou was furious enough to tear Prince Xiao apart to avenge his son’s death?

”Avenge his son’s death?”

Song Ci and Niu Pan’er were utterly confused. Where did Prince Zhou have a son?

No, could it be that the Concubine with the surname Bai was schemed against and lost the baby in her womb?

”Yes, avenge his son.” Song Zhiyu poured himself a cup of tea and said, ”Today, Prince Xiao’s Mansion hosted a full-month banquet, and Prince Zhou attended. It’s said he even brought Consort Bai along. Consort Bai was with Consort Zhou during the banquet, but when Consort Xiao appeared holding the child, things went wrong.”

At a full-month banquet, the baby is typically presented to everyone, and that’s where the incident occurred.

When Consort Xiao was showing the little Commandery Princess to the guests, she came in front of Consort Zhou, and an incident occurred. A maid, with a sharpened silver hairpin, attempted to assassinate the little Commandery Princess, shouting she wanted to avenge her child.

With the sudden appearance of an assassin, chaos ensued. Consort Bai got caught up in the chaos, was pushed around, and her belly got trampled on, immediately causing bleeding.

As for Consort Bai’s pregnancy, it wasn’t fully stable, and she insisted on attending the banquet. With this mishap and the fright, the baby couldn’t be saved.

Once the chaos was quelled, Consort Bai had already fainted. When she awoke, the child was gone. She cried out that someone had harmed her, intentionally pushed her towards the assassin, causing pandemonium at Prince Xiao’s Mansion.

But with so many people there and the chaos, no one knew who the culprit was, nor did anyone see it happen. People just assumed she’d mistaken things out of fear.

Consort Bai, of course, wouldn’t accept this and insisted that someone had intentionally harmed her.

Prince Zhou naturally wouldn’t let it go, immediately confronting Prince Xiao for justice, outright accusing him of orchestrating the whole thing out of fear of him having a son.

In short, today’s banquet at Prince Xiao’s Mansion was a total mess, reaching even Emperor Chu’s ears.

Song Ci, listening intently, looked at Niu Pan’er and said, ”I told you, at any banquet, there’s always some mishap, either someone climbing beds, reputations being ruined, or other schemes. Luckily, we didn’t go; otherwise, we would have been caught in the crossfire.”

Niu Pan’er: ”...”

”Exactly, I think you shouldn’t attend any of these banquets until after the child is born,” Song Zhiyu, a bit fearful, glanced at his wife’s still flat stomach, ”You’re different from those women; you don’t attend those poetry, tea, or banquets, so let’s not go to any invitation we receive.”

Who knows if those people are secretly malicious like today, employing underhanded tactics.

Niu Pan’er said, ”Yes, I won’t go.”

She already disliked those banquets, finding them bothersome, so not going was fine with her.

Song Ci asked, ”What about the assassin maid? How did she infiltrate?”

”It’s said the maid had actually served Prince Xiao and secretly got pregnant, being two months more advanced than Consort Xiao. However, she was dealt with by Consort Xiao. The maid held a strong grudge, waiting until now to exact revenge.” Song Zhiyu licked his lips and said, ”She was caught and beaten to death on the spot.”

Song Ci clicked his tongue twice, ”A whole mess of drama.”

”Anyway, this matter is bound to stir up trouble; it’s definitely new gossip material.” Song Zhiyu looked at the few potatoes on the table and asked, ”What are these, wild fruits?”

Song Ci said, ”Potatoes. Alright, go accompany your wife back to the courtyard to rest. We haven’t taken a break since coming back from outside today, go rest.”

Song Zhiyu quickly went to assist Niu Pan’er.
