The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Keeping Up with the Joneses

Whether Mrs. Lu is happy or not is another matter, but some people are indeed joyful, like Song Lingzhou, eagerly awaiting his father’s return, and Song Zhiqing’s twin sister, Song Zi.

Song Zi felt that happiness came too suddenly; her husband was transferred back to the capital, her brother was back, and her daughters suddenly became very desirable.

Thinking carefully, wasn’t it all thanks to her family’s strong ties, yet her family’s daughters were too few.

After understanding this, Song Zi returned to the Prime Minister’s Mansion with many packages as a guest. She first visited Madam there, inquired about the married Qi’er, mentioned Song Ci a few times, and then went to see Mrs. Lu.

”Congratulations, Third Sister-in-law, your family will be reunited soon,” Song Zi said with a smile.

Mrs. Lu forced a smile, saying, ”Whether reunited or not, how is it any different from now? Maybe it will be even more troublesome.”

Song Zi’s smile froze slightly and said, ”Look at what you are saying, Third Sister-in-law. You are the Lady, at the top, who would dare trouble you? As for you, Third Sister-in-law, I heard from Hui’er’s father that many families have taken a liking to Wei’er.”

Mrs. Lu was taken aback.

”Taken a liking to Wei’er?”

Song Zi nodded and whispered, ”Third Brother transferred back here as the Director of the Ministry of Revenue, and the eldest brother is the Prime Minister. Our Prime Minister’s Mansion is considered simple and quiet, so our daughters are naturally noble. Not to mention, Wei’er’s two elder sisters married well; who wouldn’t want such a marriage connection?”

Hearing this, Mrs. Lu felt a bit smug, sipping her tea, her eyebrows relaxing.

This is about girls competing with their parents, vying for marriage connections. The daughters of the Prime Minister’s Mansion are rare and noble; with the elder sisters married, only Wei’er is suitable for marriage in the next ten years or so, making her naturally sought after.

Mrs. Lu thought about how Madam also increased Wei’er’s monthly salary, added to her expenses, and even added two maidservants, probably realizing this too.

She looked at her sister-in-law with satisfaction and said, ”Our family’s daughters are naturally noble.”

Seeing her relaxed eyebrows, Song Zi knew she had hit her heart and continued along the topic.

”Wei’er is nine years old this year, at most eleven. Third Sister-in-law should carefully raise her, so that Wei’er can wear splendid attire in the future, and then you won’t have any worries for a lifetime.” Song Zi complimented with a smile.

Mrs. Lu said, ”I only have one daughter, so I don’t need you to tell me; I will raise her with care. You tell me, which families are inquiring about Wei’er?”

If there’s no worry about a daughter’s marriage, then take time to inquire slowly and choose carefully to see if there’s someone great or extremely noble.

Song Zi, of course, had inquired with her husband, and now she related the details.

In the garden of the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Lin Zhihui was somewhat absent-minded, idly admiring the spring scenery of the garden, not listening to what Song Ruwei was saying beside her.

”Cousin, what are you thinking?” Song Ruwei playfully asked.

With Song Ruqi married, the vast mansion had only Song Ruwei as a young girl waiting to be wed, while the fourth sister, Song Ruzhen, was still a baby and couldn’t be mentioned.

So, when her elder cousin came to visit, she was happy.

Lin Zhihui looked at her bright smiling face, her gaze falling on the exquisite summer clothes she wore, and a quick flash of jealousy and envy passed through her downcast eyes.

Both were girls, but why was Song Ruwei so fortunate? Just because of a lucky birth, everything she wore and used was of the highest quality. It was said she had previously been stuck in the dusty winds of Shanxi and only returned last year.

But in just over a year, she had adopted the demeanor of a young noble lady of the capital. It was even said she corresponded occasionally with Princess Jiayi, but she was clearly just the legitimate daughter of a concubine. How did she have such luck?
