One-Eyed Monster

Igor was still striving; he couldn’t give up just like that. He needed to establish contact with Sol, so he could implement his plan.

After prolonged observation, Igor had already witnessed everything that happened here. Though his strength wasn’t particularly high, he was meticulous. To him, helping Sol in these areas was the best he could do. He had unwavering trust in Sol, but he was also confident in his own judgment.

Everyone was fighting against that Soul Devourer Master, employing various techniques to deal with the Master’s energy light balls. Their entire focus was on handling these light balls, which was only natural, for the most pressing matter at hand was dealing with the Soul Devourer Master, and they couldn’t afford to let their guard down even for a moment.

This was perfectly normal. Everyone was doing what they thought was right, leaving no room for carelessness. They were fighting back in the ways they excelled at. Unfortunately, the Master’s power was simply too overwhelming. Despite employing every method they could think of, they failed to harm the Master. Everyone’s efforts were concentrated on how to handle the Master, neglecting everything else.

Igor, however, was watching intently. He noticed someone others overlooked.

This person was the Skeleton Knight.

As one of the Soul Devourer Master’s knights, the Skeleton Knight had once been quite illustrious. But now, a failed mission had made him greatly fear the Soul Devourer Master, so when the Master appeared here, the Skeleton Knight was scared out of his wits, his consciousness collapsing beyond repair.

Now, this Skeleton Knight lay beside Igor and the others, at the very center of what was once a sea of fire.

The Skeleton Knight lay quietly there, ignored by everyone, almost nonexistent.

In a critical situation, no one would pay attention to someone who posed no threat. They only cared about those who could threaten them. In a state like the unconscious Skeleton Knight, he didn’t even enter their field of vision.

When the Soul Devourer army attacked, the Skeleton Knight remained there, neither excited nor resistant, playing dead.

When Sol launched a counterattack and a vast sea of fire raged, the Skeleton Knight was still there, motionless, his presence affecting no one.

When the Resistors and monsters combined forces to break the Soul Devourer army, the Skeleton Knight remained unchanged, staying the same.

Igor observed all this. What others did not notice, he did. He discovered that the Skeleton Knight was entirely unaffected by what happened here. His body remained intact, and despite his consciousness collapsing, there was still no change. Unlike other Soul Devourers, the Skeleton Knight seemed to be ignored.

This situation might not seem conspicuous, but in Igor’s eyes, it was completely abnormal, almost mystical.

While others might see the Skeleton Knight as just another collapsed consciousness, a common phenomenon, Igor thought otherwise. Igor believed there was something strange about this because the Skeleton Knight wasn’t the only collapsed Soul Devourer here. There were many collapsed Soul Devourers here, and none could maintain their original form and consciousness like the Skeleton Knight. Though his consciousness had collapsed, it hadn’t been devoured like the remaining consciousness of others.

But many didn’t observe so meticulously as Igor did, taking it as a coincidence.

However, Igor didn’t think so. He believed it was impossible that the Soul Devourer Master abandoned the Skeleton Knight. From the Master’s behavior, he only recognized those who could be devoured, treating them as tools and strength. So, Igor thought, by this rationale, the Soul Devourer Master would have devoured the Skeleton Knight as always.

Yet, when the Soul Devourer Master began to frantically consume the Soul Devourers’ consciousnesses, he didn’t touch the Skeleton Knight.

There was not even the slightest touch, no attack, and no devouring, as if the Skeleton Knight had been ignored and forgotten.

This greatly astonished Igor, prompting him to observe once again.

After multiple observations, Igor gradually recalled certain things, and it was precisely this overlooked detail that suddenly enlightened him – so that’s what was actually going on!

What Igor had overlooked was a special object draped over the Skeleton Knight. This item was an implement instructed by the Soul Devourer Master for the Skeleton Knight to capture him.

Igor remembered the name of this object – the Spirit Binding Net!

Upon realizing this, Igor thought this was indeed the breakthrough point of the entire matter!

The only difference between this Skeleton Knight and the other Soul Devourers here was that the Skeleton Knight was draped in a Spirit Binding Net!

This meant the reason the Skeleton Knight wasn’t devoured was precisely because of this Spirit Binding Net.

Igor had once been ensnared by this Spirit Binding Net, and he knew what it felt like. He also realized that as long as the net was cast over him, he couldn’t release any energy.

The net was like an Energy Separator, preventing the Border Realm’s energy from being usable by oneself.

Previously, Igor hadn’t noticed that this net also blocked energy attacks...

During this time, Igor finally discovered the uniqueness of this Spirit Binding Net.

The net could directly interrupt the entire Border Realm’s energy, whether for energy attacks or energy releases, nothing could penetrate the net. It severed the link between energy and consciousness, making the site under the Spirit Binding Net the best sanctuary in this Border Realm.

That’s why Igor felt he had to establish contact with Sol because he had no idea how to suddenly remove this Spirit Binding Net.

He needed this Spirit Binding Net to deal with the Soul Devourer Master, but he couldn’t take it off because the Skeleton Knight also bore Sol’s Lightning Shackles. Only Sol could unlock these Lightning Shackles, leaving Igor feeling utterly helpless.

Even though Igor’s approach might sound a bit clumsy, it was likely the best option at the moment.

Igor’s overwhelming confidence stemmed from this Spirit Binding Net. After all, he had been covered by it, the feeling still vivid in his mind, fully understanding the use of this Energy Separator. The current problem was how to acquire this Spirit Binding Net. Ordinary methods were clearly ineffective; Sol had to step forward!
