One-Eyed Monster

The monster attack sent the entire Border Realm into chaos.

Tobin Sol originally intended for more chaos in the Border Realm, and now the chaos had exceeded his imagination.

Not only did it puzzle the Resistors, but even the Soul Devourers were baffled.

What kind of madness seized these monsters to charge so fiercely out of the blue?

However, the power of these monsters was not to be underestimated—whether it was the Flame Demon or the Sand People, they could always send the Soul Devourers running for their lives. But when a Soul Devourer capable of suppressing them appeared, the monsters would skulk away, much like the Resistors!

This made the High Rank Soul Devourers feel their hands were full at this moment.

Although there was no concept of physical exhaustion in the Border Realm, running back and forth without any results always made these High Rank Soul Devourers uneasy…

These High Rank Soul Devourers weren’t worried about being ambushed or falling into a Resistor’s trap. They were uneasy because returning empty-handed, their master might vent his anger on them.

Previously, their large-scale plan ended in failure, and it seemed the master lost a magical artifact. Now they’ve been deployed everywhere to put out fires, but from their point of view, the fires are already out just as they arrive… yet in unexpected places, new fires break out suddenly!

This tactic is truly cunning, giving them no respite, while some weak-willed souls couldn’t resist the temptation, feasting on those scattered remnants, only to be eliminated by Resistor officers. With dwindling support, and increasing enemies, the joining of these monsters added another layer of threat to this battle…

If they return empty-handed and the master links this to their previous failure, what will they do if blamed? Dissolving into void can be overcome through their efforts, but being devoured by their master leaves nothing behind!

The High Rank Soul Devourers felt anxious, an inevitable circumstance considering their master’s recent neurotic state, forcing them to act cautiously, fearing each misstep could scatter their consciousness, barring them from returning to their original world.

The Skull Knight pulled at his mount, profoundly troubled.

He occupied the pinnacle of the Soul Devourer’s hierarchy, being one of the master’s three knights.

Yet now he felt he’d soon plummet to the lowest rung of that hierarchy…

It all stemmed from previous events, never expecting to fail so miserably.

In frustration from failure, he devoured six newly promoted High Rank Soul Devourers. Although it didn’t meet his expectations and his power didn’t surge, he did make notable progress. The skills left by those six High Rank Soul Devourers were limited, mostly consisting of earth-burrowing spells, ineffective against experts, suitable only to deal with semi-experts… such trivial matters were insignificant compared to the slight expansion of his energy reserves, which was sufficient.

He thought that if he encountered those foes again, they wouldn’t escape him!

He was too complacent then, so what if the Resistor alliance leader showed up, being one of the master’s three knights, how could he panic so quickly, disappointing the master’s expectations was unthinkable.

The thought made him uneasy—the failure remained a failure, the master hadn’t blamed him yet, but he could already sense the resentment from other High Rank Soul Devourers…

Such resentment was enough to engulf him.

He received a new order, and he was considerably attentive to this new task, feeling he couldn’t disappoint the master anymore.

He needed to prove the power of the master’s three knights!

These Resistors must have eaten leopard guts, daring to attack Soul Devourers head-on, do they take us for sheep?

The Skull Knight was brimming with rage, heading to the battlefield intending to teach the Resistors a harsh lesson, but upon arrival, things were far from what he imagined.

He had been gathering strength for long, but his blows all landed on cotton, unable to find any trace of the opponent!

He was quite puzzled—how could the master locate the Resistors earlier but be unable to now?

The Skull Knight didn’t know; previously they launched a surprise attack, catching the Resistors unprepared and easy to trace. Now, however, it was different; the Resistors had anticipated the Soul Devourers, carrying out a premeditated offense, naturally making it hard for the High Ranks to find clues…

Yet things weren’t that simple, the sudden involvement of monsters gave the Skull Knight a severe headache. His steed was one of these monsters, seemingly beckoned by something, constantly writhing and tossing, nearly throwing the Skull Knight off…

The Skull Knight managed to steady his mount, finally arriving leisurely at a base attacked by Resistors.

The scattered bodies of Low and Intermediate Rank Soul Devourers lay everywhere, with roaming consciousness all around. The Skull Knight suppressed his greed, glanced about, trying to find some clue, unwilling to have a fruitless trip again.

He had already been to three bases before, all in vain…

These Resistors truly were like a gust of wind, coming unexpectedly, destroying everything, then leaving in a flash, without a trace.

Don’t let me find you, and if I do, I’ll make sure you’ll pay dearly…

The Skull Knight silently vowed to disassemble the Resistors next time he encountered them—um, no, in the Border Realm, there’s no such saying; it’s breaking their consciousness, leaving nothing behind!

While silently vowing, a streak of Sword Qi quietly approached the Skull Knight.

Startled, his mount reared up, front hooves aloft, body shaking, attempting to flee elsewhere! The Skull Knight sensed danger, immediately releasing energy to form a defensive wall, stubbornly repelling the surprise Sword Qi.

Just as the Skull Knight was catching breath, a slender whip, like a slithering snake, crept onto his arm.

”Hmm?” Everyone in the Border Realm recognized this whip; it’s Storm Shana’s Tornado Whip, a Resistor officer!

”We meet again!” A deep voice resonated, accompanied by the arrival of the heavy Flame Hammer! The Skull Knight hurriedly used his other skeletal hand to draw his sword, blocking the hammer…

”Bastard, go to hell!” That surge of Sword Qi flew at him again.

With one hand bound by the Tornado Whip, and struggling against the powerful Flame Hammer, the Skull Knight seemed unable to fend off the Sword Qi…
