One-Eyed Monster

Igor’s sword strike was powerful and heavy, an all-out blow, yet it didn’t contain any lightning, which was a peculiar thing.

Even Sol, who had mastered the use of lightning to perfection, couldn’t comprehend how lightning was generated within Igor. Apart from knowing Igor had extraordinary talent, they knew nothing else, but they didn’t find it strange that someone like Igor would exhibit unusual traits.

They even felt that Igor’s choice was perfectly reasonable.

Choosing to fight against the Soul Devourer Master was, indeed, a reasonable choice.

The Soul Devourer Master stared at Igor in a daze, ”I am Tobin Sol, why do you want to harm me!”

”I don’t care who you are!” shouted Igor, as he swung his arm once more, sending out another wave of Sword Qi.

This time, there was still no lightning, but it was just as forceful. The Sword Qi went straight through the Soul Devourer Master’s body, creating a brand new wound.

”I came for you, and yet you hurt me!” said the Soul Devourer Master, covering his wound, his voice mournful, like the wail of someone whose heart has been broken.

”The one I’m harming is a demon!” Igor had no intention of wasting words with the Soul Devourer Master and sent another wave of Sword Qi.

Meanwhile, the Resistors did not stop to rest; they didn’t change their approach due to Igor’s decision. They continued as planned, maintaining their vigilance, and their attack proceeded methodically.

The Soul Devourer Master was like a pile of mush, always being defeated momentarily but then returning to its original state, a cycle that felt endless.

Lightning danced in the sky, part of the Thunder Shackles set by Sol. This time, he didn’t want to let the Soul Devourer Master escape. Since it had come to this, it was time to prepare for a decisive battle. With Igor all in, the Resistors also needed to seize the opportunity for a last-ditch battle.

Sol wasn’t worried that the Resistors would completely disappear from the Border Realm after this battle because he knew hope was there—Igor’s decision was hope. Even if they lost this battle, the seeds had been planted, and there would always be someone to protect their world. The real terror wasn’t the disaster itself when it arrived, but the numbness from losing faith and hope. This numbness in the Border Realm would be obliterated by this battle!

Sol trusted his instincts, which told him to fight without worries because faith would spread and hope would ignite, and people in their world would learn about what was happening here. More would rise to protect their world; this battle was the spark, which even if it meant the end of the Border Realm or the Resistor Alliance, the seed of protecting one’s own world would burn brighter. His job now was to fan this spark into a roaring flame.

It was his intuition that told Sol: Igor was this spark!

Now they were united in their fight against the Soul Devourer Master.

”Can you really bear to harm someone you’re looking for, and with those deceivers?” the Soul Devourer Master continued his charade, acting foolish, but where did his confidence come from? Did he think this act could persuade Igor?

Perhaps that was initially the Soul Devourer Master’s intention, but unfortunately, things didn’t go according to his script. He was still unwilling, still putting on an act, hoping to sway Igor back to his side.

He had thought that the skill of Bewitching would be effective, assuming Igor was naive enough to believe whatever he was told, that he could muddle reality, disrupt the young man’s mind, and everything would fall into place naturally.

Sadly, he underestimated Igor and the Resistors.

The Resistors did not panic as he expected; they weren’t rushing to explain or impatiently trying to prove themselves…

And Igor wasn’t bewildered by this distortion of right and wrong…

It seemed none of them were affected by this Bewitching! This was something the Soul Devourer Master couldn’t understand.

But he was still unwilling to give up; this initial failure was like a bad omen, and as someone who considered himself the master of the Border Realm, how could he let this happen? So he kept insisting on using Bewitching…

Igor remained unmoved, continuing to cooperate with the Resistors in attacking the Soul Devourer Master.

Their attacks grew stronger and more forceful with each blow, yet the Soul Devourer Master would always fall and then rise again.

This was an indestructible cockroach!

And this indestructible cockroach kept sighing and complaining, which was quite unsettling.

After all, Igor was a youngster and didn’t have the patience of Sol and the others. Listening to the Soul Devourer Master’s act, his inner irritation had already reached its peak.

Moreover, the Soul Devourer Master couldn’t be defeated, which amplified his frustration.

”Stop babbling, I don’t believe you, what’s the use of your pretense!”

Unable to hold back, Igor finally exploded.

The Soul Devourer Master was completely stupefied; this shout was a testament to the complete failure of his Bewitching. Sometimes he couldn’t help but try, even knowing success was unlikely.

”Why?” Even in failure, the Soul Devourer Master wanted to know why; his calmness was due to his confidence in his own power.

”I won’t fall for it!” Igor yelled, then wielded his sword for another strike!

”Why?” the Soul Devourer Master turned to ask Sol, at which point Sol’s lightning had already bound him again.

”For no particular reason, just a difference in belief.”

”Even if you were really Sol, I’d still cut you down!” Igor didn’t forget to add another jab; he’d reached his limit of hatred for the Soul Devourer Master!

”Why?” asked the Soul Devourer Master like a fool once more. Clearly, he was deeply dissatisfied with this defeat.

”Why ask so much, it’s endless!” Igor’s resentment grew heavier; he was speechless with this long-winded Soul Devourer Master.

He couldn’t be crushed, didn’t fight back, and kept babbling—what on earth was the Soul Devourer Master doing?

Igor, angrily, swung his sword again; he was about to reach his breaking point. How many attacks had this Soul Devourer Master endured? Did this guy have a tendency for masochism, not reacting a bit after being attacked for so long?
