I AM the Football Star

Chapter 194: Chapter 75: Midfield Transparent Man, Vedian Goes Home

Five minutes after conceding the goal, the Como Team, still lacking a solid plan, faced punishment again.

Their midfield player was intercepted by the chasing Lu Yang during their advance.

Lu Yang once again dribbled at high speed, and during his advance, shifted from a central position to the left flank.

He was actively seeking the flanking area.

This is relatively rare in the current popular attacking midfielder tactic.

Instead of attacking the most threatening area, he moved to the flank, which seems like a misstep.

The Como defensive midfielder persistently executed the tactical arrangement to block Lu Yang’s long shot.

His main goal was to prevent Lu Yang from pulling the football to the right for a subsequent shot.

This is the conventional shooting move for most shooters in this area.

But Lu Yang didn’t pull the football to the right to widen his shooting angle.

Instead, he pulled the football to the left.

Generally speaking, only the winger would choose to continue pulling to the left at the left flank, to make a cross-pass or a horizontal pass in front of the goal after successfully reaching the bottom line.

The possibility of a shot at this angle is not high.

Bang!

Indeed!

After pulling away, Lu Yang struck with his left foot, inside foot pass.

The football flew to the right, drawing an arc.

Sogel leaped high in the center, and the Como center-back followed closely, jumping even higher.

However, neither of them connected with the football.

”Oh, what a pity, Lu Yang’s pass was slightly too high. Sogel couldn’t fully jump due to the interference from the opposing center-back, so he didn’t hit the football.”

”Lu Yang’s crossing technique sometimes needs to be more precise. When in doubt, passing a stable low ball is also fine.”

”Wait, no no no, the far post! Fernandez is appearing at the far post, unmarked, and the football is landing right in his path!”

”Volleys! Fernandez throws himself out, reaching the football, a front-of-the-goal volley!”

”The goalkeeper was caught off guard, the ball went in! Fernandez expanded the scoreline, San Remo leads Como two to zero!”

On the field, the San Remo players rushed towards Fernandez and Lu Yang, starting a lively celebration.

The far-post sneak is actually a common offensive tactic in many teams.

This appears to be a seemingly ”plain” way of scoring.

It seems to involve a significant amount of luck.

After all, this goal was established in the absence of Sogel contending for the football.

But only San Remo knows, this is a tactical success of theirs.

An attack with one pass, this will be a frequently used offensive method for San Remo in the future.

Purely from a statistical point of view, their scoring probability has doubled!

Como’s defensive players are very helpless.

They defended Lu Yang’s pass well, at least preventing Sogel from contending for the first drop point.

Never underestimate Sogel, his current goal tally may not be high, but that’s determined by his playing style, not because he’s weak.

He causes a lot of wear and impact on the opponent’s defensive line every match.

This has a direct relationship with San Remo scoring more in the second half or even the last twenty minutes of the game.

After the restart, this time the Como Team players finally aligned their thoughts.

They started to press Lu Yang, trying not to let Lu Yang receive the ball.

But it’s very difficult.

Lu Yang roamed the whole field, mostly just passing the ball back, then running back to respond to teammates. He almost doesn’t organize attacks and advances, which isn’t his strength.

Seven players in the San Remo backfield started shamelessly passing the ball around.

This isn’t their intention, but after losing Morici, once there’s a team that aims to pin Lu Yang, San Remo’s attack will fall into this toothpaste squeezing mode.

But when it reached the eightieth minute of the match, the players of the Como Team, who had just pressed for a few minutes, started to struggle with their stamina.

At this time, San Remo seized the opportunity to launch an attack from the wing.

Left-back Rondo played the ball to Bai Zhami.

Bai Zhami started sprinting, successfully reaching the bottom line.

He made a cross, but it wasn’t of high quality.

The football’s point landed behind the big central forward Sogel.

Sogel, helpless, could only turn around and nod the football back.

But the next moment, the football flew back.

Bang!

Outside the penalty area, Lu Yang volleyed the football without stopping it.

The football flew past Sogel and the opposing center-back, like a white lightning.

The goalkeeper simply couldn’t react.

Three to zero!

Lu Yang killed the game.

...

After the match, several media outlets showed great interest in Lu Yang’s performance, as it clearly contradicted the Republican Newspaper’s evaluation of Lu Yang.

The Como Team captain expressed helplessly during an interview: ”Clearly, Lu Yang is not an ordinary player, the Republican Newspaper’s analysis of him is completely wrong. We did everything we could in this match, he had almost no direct space to shoot, but the result is that we fell two-zero behind because of his passing.”

”We don’t know how to defend against him, we tried everything, but just can’t stop him from helping his team score.”

Como Team Head Coach: ”This is an unsolvable problem, currently in the Italian Third Division, it’s hard to find a player who can one-on-one shut down Lu Yang. His shooting, dribbling, and passing are outstanding in the Italian Third Division.”

”And this means, any team needs more people to help defend, which will inevitably cause some issues with the team’s defensive line. I think, perhaps a five-back formation might become the key to restrain Lu Yang.”
