I AM the Football Star

Chapter 176: Chapter 69: Special Mission, Maniero’s Vision

The match against Renat brought Lu Yang the player skill of ”One-Touch Pass”.

This is a very basic skill, yet it can be considered a divine skill, especially for midfield players.

The meaning of basic is never that it’s simple, but rather that its usage frequency is high and it acts as a prerequisite for various advanced skills.

Many people know basic skills, but very few can hone them to the realm of perfection.

In essence, soccer is nothing but passing, controlling, dribbling, and shooting, and one-touch passing is one of the most fundamental abilities required in professional soccer.

As its name suggests, it can greatly improve a player’s ability to make quick passes.

It’s not only referring to the threatening final pass; even in normal passing and receiving, the ability to make a quick pass is very important.

As a result, Lu Yang’s long pass reached 70, short pass 65, approaching Serie B standards.

After this match, San Remo’s opponent for the second round of the Italian Cup was announced.

Their luck was extremely unfortunate.

Because their opponent turned out to be the Serie B team Brescia.

That’s right, Serie B!

This was unexpected for Sotu.

Although in his plan, San Remo was not unlikely to meet a Serie B team, but that would be in the fourth or fifth round.

But this time... they encountered a Serie B team so early, especially after their midfield core was injured and withdrew.

For a moment, it seemed like all sorts of bad things were approaching San Remo, commonly referred to as bad luck.

In response, the Italian Republican Newspaper, which has a poor relationship with Lu Yang, started to sensationalize.

They began to openly criticize Lu Yang and doubt San Remo.

”A joke! Pass success rate at 75%, key pass success rate below 50%, this isn’t even a qualified midfielder, yet he’s the new midfield core of San Remo!”

”Only two threatening passes the entire match! Such a midfield core, whoever has him is unlucky!”

”Exposed weaknesses, he’s just a laborer player, admit it, San Remo!”

”Zero goals! Lu Yang coming to the center lost his scoring ability, he can’t even play football anymore!”

The newspaper even set up a special column to track Lu Yang and San Remo’s matches.

They analyzed Lu Yang’s performance in the last three matches in detail, especially comparing him to some excellent midfield players.

Don’t even talk about Lu Yang, if you compare anyone with Xabi Alonso, Kroos, Alonso, David Silva, De Bruyne, these top midfielders, it’s hard to measure up.

Moreover, the Republican Newspaper selectively forgot Lu Yang’s goals and assist data in these matches, as well as the winning streak he brought to the team.

Don’t ask why someone cares about the Italian Third Division, because previously Sofia angrily challenged the Republican Newspaper, causing them to lose face among all European peers.

Now, to vent their anger, it’s not excessive to designate a section for revenge in the newspaper.

What’s more, they discovered the attention to this section’s news isn’t low at all.

Vent and earn money!

Such an opportunity?

Can you believe it?

This once again proved that for ordinary people, soccer’s allure indeed isn’t as strong as entertainment.

Because Lu Yang’s influence in the entertainment industry is far greater than his influence in the football world.

Many people who aren’t soccer fans also pay attention to Republican Newspaper’s reports on Lu Yang.

Regarding this, Lu Yang was interviewed before the eleventh round match.

Lu Yang: ”Honestly, after reading the Republican Newspaper, I even thought we lost the last match. Thankfully, the Italian Football Association was firm enough not to judge us as losing based on Republican Newspaper’s evaluation, not deducting our points, because what they said sounded real.”

”Also, regarding the issue of me not scoring in the last match... why do people still ask me this question? I even had to check the Italian Third Division scorer list again, fortunately, I’m still first, otherwise, I would surely doubt if I know how to score.”

”Six matches, nine goals four assists, averaging over two goal contributions per match, even with such performance can’t conquer the Republican Newspaper, it seems they have high standards. I hope they can find a player in the Italian Third Division who crushes my stats, otherwise, I fear they won’t have material to continue.”

”Luckily, I don’t need to conquer the Republican Newspaper, I just need to conquer the team’s opponents.”

Subsequently, the eleventh round of the Italian Third Division began.

San Remo VS Allez.

Lu Yang scored a brilliant goal in the match, responding to pre-match doubts about whether he can score.

This goal, in some ways, was a typical Lu Yang-style goal.

At that time, Lu Yang had the ball but no passing options, facing the opponent’s marking, he used a Rabona to beat two people, dribbling straight through the middle.

He then wildly pedaled, forcing the opposing defenders to retreat all the way.

When Lu Yang approached the penalty area, he was surrounded by opposing defenders.

Three opponents tried to block him.

Lu Yang, however, carried the three men and performed a Marseille Turn, no, a half Marseille Turn.

He seemed not familiar with executing this move, unable to complete a full 360-degree spin.

But this didn’t affect his ability to use this move to beat opponents.

After circling the ball on the spot twice, Lu Yang bizarrely escaped the three-man block.

No one knows what name should be given to Lu Yang’s evasion technique.
