I AM the Football Star

Chapter 180: Chapter 70: The True God’s Return (Part 2)

Simply during the attack, just abandon the midfield and directly pass the ball from the wing to the front.

The defensive pressure on the wing is relatively less, making the passing smoother.

At this moment, as the attacking midfielder, Lu Yang moves closer to the ball side, receives the ball, cooperates with the wing, and looks for opportunities.

When Lu Yang plays as a left-back, his favorite area to appear is the left flank.

As an attacking midfielder, Lu Yang is completely unleashed, granting him the power to initiate attacks from both the left and right flanks.

In this position, Lu Yang can shoot, pass, break through, and possesses a strong physical confrontation ability. He’s practically a lethal weapon.

Similarly, even set pieces in the flank area are quite threatening. Therefore, the number of fouls Lu Yang encounters is significantly less than when he’s in the midfield or defense, which compensates to some extent for his lack of ball control skills.

Bang!

In the training match, Lu Yang shot from the flank and scored directly.

The players were very excited because Lu Yang clearly adapted well to the new tactical system.

This felt much better than the last few games where they couldn’t exert their strength.

Maniero was on the sidelines, and he has also been appearing in San Remo these past few days.

”In terms of offense, Lu Yang has been fully activated. He’s more threatening near the goal, and his shooting is the guarantee of his threat ability. No one dares to let him fire at will from the attacking midfield position.” Maniero said.

”But if we play like this, the team will be disconnected.” Tom said, pointing at the field.

On the field, when Lu Yang has the ball, the two full-backs will also move forward appropriately, acting like wing midfielders.

To fill the defensive gaps left by the advancing full-backs, Latu Yidi and Versachi, the two defensive midfielders, have to stay back to cover.

From the defensive midfielders to Lu Yang, the attacking midfielder, a large area in between is empty.

This is almost equivalent to cutting off an arm, which is especially unfavorable for the team’s offense.

”Isn’t that exactly why we chose this style of play?” Maniero smiled, ”The way we pass the ball forward already ignores our midfield and central space. We are abandoning the midfield to attack, and this is the price we must bear without Morici.”

Tom said, ”Alright, attacking without midfield involvement might work by relying solely on Lu Yang’s star-level performance. But what about the defense? Without a midfield, our defense will be very dangerous.”

Sotu stood up at this moment, pointing at Lu Yang on the field, ”This is where Lu Yang is different from Izalelt. In defense, he can retreat from the opponent’s box back to our box.”

”He can defend from the left flank to the right flank. His coverage is for the entire field, the entire field!”

”Although I don’t know why, at the age of only seventeen, he possesses such terrifying running abilities, but there’s a saying in the East that diligence can make up for clumsiness. Offense relies on talent, defense relies on attitude. He is the bridge connecting San Remo’s front and back fields in defense.”

”If the previous midfield core required Lu Yang to adapt to the tactical system designed exclusively for Morici, from this moment on, he now has to adapt to the tactical system built exclusively for him.”

”Everything in this tactic exists to let Lu Yang better utilize his own strengths!”

Bang!

Another goal was born on the training ground.

This time it was Lu Yang who attracted the defenders and then sent an over-the-top through ball to Sogel.

He greatly enjoys this tactical system.

It’s like a wild horse unleashed, free and unfettered.

But these changes in San Remo are unknown to the outside world.

In terms of outside perception, what they see is Lu Yang getting lost in the original 433 system.

The media, led by the Republican Newspaper, once again evaluated Lu Yang’s performance.

Especially during that recent league round, where Lu Yang encountered the first draw of his career, which was a focal point for these media to write about.

Until the Serie B strong team Brescia arrived in Sunshine City, these news reports slightly eased up.

The purpose wasn’t to let Lu Yang and San Remo off the hook, but to wait until Brescia defeated San Remo to further criticize them!

...

At the pre-match press conference.

The Brescia Head Coach was very calm, stating that the victory or defeat of this match was not important to them; their goal this year is to advance to Serie A, and the Italian Cup is not in their plans.

In this match, they are more about fielding substitutes to find their form.

There is no intention of underestimating San Remo, as many teams have such views about cup competitions.

It’s common for teams not to focus on competitions unless reaching the last sixteen, the quarter-finals, or even the semi-finals.

In the later stages, due to the pressure of league titles or the Champions League and Europa League, even reaching the semi-finals means the Italian Cup can be abandoned.

But that’s concerning the major powers in Serie A.

The Italian Cup is a great honor for most non-major teams in Serie A, not to mention Serie B teams.

So, if possible, of course, Brescia hopes they can advance further.

The reason for fielding the substitutes is because they believe their substitute lineup is enough to defeat San Remo.

They’re not entirely ignorant about San Remo, or rather, due to the conflict between Lu Yang and the Republican Newspaper, almost half of Italy’s football scene knows the issues San Remo is facing now.

Core injury withdrawal.
