I AM the Football Star

Chapter 171: Chapter 66: The San Remo Sunglasses Principle (Part 2)

Sofia: ”I know everyone is very interested in the matter between Kubo and me, and I am as well. In fact, for work reasons, I’ve developed the habit of recording conversations.”

”This is for self-protection, and I’m sure everyone can understand that.”

The reporters below the stage all wore excited expressions and nodded repeatedly.

Back then, Sofia used these unimaginable pieces of evidence to bring down that old director with a heavy blow.

Now... it looks like Kubo, this bad boy of the Italian music scene, is in trouble.

Though he’s called a bad boy, Kubo is actually not young anymore, in his thirties.

At this age, without settling down to create good works and always thinking about getting involved in scandals with female stars, one has to say Kubo is running out of steam.

In the recordings Sofia released, it was not hard to hear Kubo’s pleading tone.

He hoped Sofia would use his new song as the theme and incidental music for her movie, promising that the song is truly excellent.

Sofia then told Kubo: ”Your new song is indeed good. I even think it could perform well on various European music charts after its release. But...”

”But unfortunately, neither the lyrics nor the style or the mood of the song fits our movie. So, I’m very sorry, but we may have to collaborate next time.”

Sofia’s refusal was very tactful.

But Kubo was not so calm. He repeatedly tried to persuade Sofia to use his song, as it would greatly increase the song’s exposure.

Later, in a moment of excitement, he even said something like, ”Why do you care if the lyrics fit or not, as long as it sounds good,” clearly showing his disrespect for the movie audience.

In response, Sofia firmly stated, ”I am the director, and I have to be responsible for this movie and for all the fans. This is my stance. I respect you, Kubo, but you should also respect my audience!”

This statement was prominently reported by various media and left a lasting impression on many cinema-goers.

Many people expressed that they would definitely go to the cinema to watch Sofia’s new movie.

And with the exposure of the recording, Kubo quickly became a public enemy, with everyone denouncing him.

Several other female stars even came forward to accuse Kubo of doing the same thing to them before.

With Sofia’s example, the public quickly believed these actresses.

Famous musician Kubo completely ruined his reputation.

...

The intrigue of Europe’s fame and fortune arena.

And at San Remo’s training ground, waves were rising as well.

The cause was... when reviewing the post-match technical statistics, everyone was surprised to find that the players who scored were quite... unusual.

In the match against Gubbio, Lu Yang scored twice and assisted twice, dominating the field and being named the match MVP.

Morici also scored twice and assisted once, showcasing his core qualities and shaking off the sluggishness of the previous four matches.

Sogel finally ended his nightmarish streak of five matches without a goal and reactivated his scoring account with a header.

Lastly, Naji scored his second goal of the season, matching the stats of starting central forward Sogel, though the only difference was that it was an own goal, going into his own net.

It was then realized that all the players who scored in this match had worn the same pair of sunglasses before the game!

The players remembered what Lu Yang had said on the training ground earlier.

Lucky sunglasses!

Deservedly called so!

After all, even a defender like Naji scored, although it wasn’t quite the right kind of goal.

Just ask which soccer player can resist this kind of cheat-code happiness?

None, not a single one.

So this time, the entire first team of San Remo all wore sunglasses neatly.

”Ding! You’ve acquired a star-level skill, Li Yi’s Bengbu Spin!”

On the training ground, Lu Yang couldn’t help but let out a wail.

The players around were stunned, thinking Lu Yang had gotten injured.

Fortunately, Lu Yang soon indicated he was fine, just a bit pale-faced.

”Li Yi’s Bengbu Spin: Fully utilize physical advantages to perfectly rotate and shield the ball. Though clumsy, it exudes the art of shielding the ball!”

As a result of this, Lu Yang’s ball control, strength, and balance skills each increased by 2 points.

To be honest, for such a flashy skill not to improve dribbling and tight ball control, it tells you quite a bit about the type of technical move it is.

Just thinking of the Great Emperor Li Yi’s imposing figure makes Lu Yang feel conflicted inside.

Although he isn’t exactly a flashy technical player, as an idol star, would using the Bengbu Spin to dribble result in losing fans?

Of course, it’s just a joke, a bit of fun.

In fact, at this point, Lu Yang is very suitable for the Bengbu Spin.

His current technical moves are mostly non-contact.

These moves are quite effective at this stage because opponents find it hard to anticipate Lu Yang’s intentions, making it easy for him to get past them.

But as he moves up in competition level and faces stronger defense, pure fancy moves won’t always work. Even if they do, opponents with superior physical qualities will catch up.

Take Lam Yang from the Star of Italy Team, for example. Even he is just a member of the Liverpool Reserves, currently on loan to Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.

In high-level matches, without overwhelming explosion power, dribbling past opponents requires body contact.

Even with exceptional speed, many players need to develop strong physical resistance.

Messi’s dribbling and passing skills are classic, adored for its rhythm, but his powerful core strength and ability to withstand challenges during runs are also crucial and cannot be overlooked.

The Bengbu Spin is a dribbling move that incorporates body contact, greatly enriching Lu Yang’s attack options.

”You seem very uncomfortable,” Morici said, looking at Lu Yang.

”How could I be! I’m too happy for that,” Lu Yang replied with a troubled expression.

Dribbling past opponents is temporary, but looking cool lasts a lifetime.

This time, it seems he was taken down by the Great Emperor.

Fortunately, it was Li Yi’s skill that got unlocked instead of a Moment Card, otherwise, Lu Yang wouldn’t even know where to cry. Skills can be adjusted, but the recreation of classic moments often means a 90% faithful reproduction.

...

In the evening, Morici didn’t go to train at the small field outside the villa with Lu Yang.

Because Sofia returned today.

Sofia specifically called Morici in advance: ”Morici, are you with Lu Yang now?”

Morici: ”Yes, we’re at the team’s training ground.”

Sofia: ”Oh, that’s great, I’m back in San Remo and am planning to surprise Lu Yang later. I haven’t had a chance to spend time alone with him in a while, and I’ve prepared a candlelight dinner.”

Morici: ”Oh my god, you are so romantic.”

Sofia: ”By the way, would you like to join us?”

Morici: ”Of course I would!”

Sofia: ”Really? Are you sure?”

Morici: ”Uh... Candlelight dinners don’t really suit three people, right? I’ll just not disturb you then.”

Sofia: ”That’s right, I’m sorry for you. But today you can’t practice with Lu Yang.”

Morici: ”It’s fine, early in the league season isn’t suitable for too much training anyway. It’s important to allocate energy wisely.”

After hanging up, Morici was sweating all over.

For some reason, he felt that if he had just accepted Sofia’s invitation, something terrifying might have happened.

So Lu Yang had no choice but to return alone to his luxurious and spacious villa.

Upon opening the door, a woman jumped at him.

Lu Yang knew it was Sofia because Morici had already told him, so he naturally didn’t dodge and reached out to catch her in his arms.

Honestly, if Lu Yang dodged, Sofia would probably have hurt herself badly in the fall.

Once in Lu Yang’s arms, Sofia immediately wrapped her legs around his waist: ”I saw your pre-match interview. Sorry for causing you such trouble. I promise in the future to maintain a two-meter safety distance when interacting with those other male stars.”

Recently, Sofia had been delving deeply into Chinese culture. The inherent traditions of the Chinese made her realize that she needed to let Lu Yang know that she belonged only to him.

The name ”Kiss of Europa” is indeed dazzling, and being the dream girl of all the men in Europe does have its impact.

But perhaps Lu Yang prefers a Sofia who belongs solely to him.

This would be the direction Sofia would strive for in the near future.
