I AM the Football Star

Chapter 182: Chapter 71: Die in Silence or Reign in Silence

Stadium stands.

”Lu Yang shouldn’t have stayed at San Remo, now he’s in trouble.”

On the field, there are some professional fans or possibly scouts talking to each other.

”Yeah, this summer, Arsenal was willing to bid two and a half million euros for him. That would definitely be the peak of his personal value.”

”Arsenal is completely taking a gamble, in fact, Lu Yang is not worth that price. To date, he still hasn’t played any formal high-level matches.”

”Or rather, this is Arsenal paying for Mr. Winter’s face, after all, Lu Yang scored a hat trick in front of Mr. Winter.”

”I understand the ambition of young people, wanting to achieve success every step of the way through self-struggle. This pragmatic mindset is actually a quality lacking in today’s young players in European football. In this respect, I really admire him!”

”But... Lu Yang lost the gamble!”

”Sometimes, you should stand on the shoulders of giants to move forward, rather than thinking about getting rid of the so-called backing of a big club.”

”Lu Yang wanted to stay at San Remo to create a legend, making him different from other young players who join big clubs. His ambition is great, but unfortunately, he lost the gamble!”

”Morici might be the biggest reason he stayed at San Remo. With Morici and Lu Yang, San Remo indeed has the potential to push for Serie B. But now... as a gamble, Morici at least gives big clubs the desire to try their luck, but Lu Yang... Workhorse players are not worth expectations, doesn’t he understand this?”

”Although San Remo hasn’t lost any of the recent matches, it’s only a matter of time. Lu Yang plays too awkwardly, even though he’s known as an all-rounder, he’s not truly versatile. Meticulous organizational work and extremely strong personal ball control and passing ability are areas he cannot reach.”

”But what do you think about this time San Remo’s formation adjustment? 4213, with Lu Yang placed in the attacking midfield position, which is different from previous matches.”

”There won’t be much change, when they actually play, I even think this will be a 451 formation, with the two wide forwards unable to move up, only standing in the wide midfield position. Lu Yang will not appear in the attacking midfield position, he doesn’t have the talent to direct the attack. The only reason Sotu put him there is so that Lu Yang’s defensive coverage can span all areas between the two penalty boxes.”

”Defensive attacking midfielder? This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”

”So this is a formation with four defenders, two defensive midfielders, a defensive midfielder, two wide midfielders, and a central forward?”

”I think so.”

”San Remo’s convention of initiating attacks from the middle won’t change, the team’s way of play won’t be altered just because one person isn’t adapted to it.”

These fans’ discussions are actually very professional.

Moreover, they mentioned a very important point, which is that the team’s tactics will never serve just one person.

Looking at European football, when major clubs buy players, they start with their own tactical system to see if the player suits their style of play, and then make the purchase.

Many so-called busts, apart from injury reasons, mostly fail to integrate into the team system because they don’t fit the playing style.

In such cases, the team will not change the playing habits of the other ten players for one player.

Lu Yang encountered this situation.

He struggled greatly in Morici’s position, so it was speculated that maybe Versachi should try Morici’s role, or maybe even let Latu Yidi try it, and Lu Yang would return to the workhorse role.

But these people overlooked a crucial factor.

It is also the reason Lu Yang was determined to stay at San Remo from the beginning.

That is... For some small teams, revolving around potential stars is their firm strategy.

Their battle system starts from the needs of the star.

At times, everyone in the team has to make changes for this star.

This situation is rare.

It requires the star to have absolute ability and be worthy of the team’s changes and others’ sacrifices.

It also requires the head coach to have absolute trust in the star, to be relatively open-minded, and have absolute control over the team.

It also requires the team’s management to trust the players and the head coach.

It also requires the fans to trust the team.

These requirements are extremely difficult to meet.

Unless you’re a football king.

And Lu Yang... coincidentally, the Lu Yang who brought San Remo its first championship trophy, who was divine in the championship match, is San Remo’s football king!

...

Beep!

With a whistle, the second round of the Italian Cup officially begins.

Italian Third Division team San Remo VS Serie B team Brescia.

As the match starts, San Remo shows a completely different style of play from the previous matches.

Lu Yang takes the kickoff, Versachi receives it, then passes it back to San Remo’s right-back Matias.

After getting the ball, Matias immediately makes a long pass to the right winger Fernandez in the front field, before the opponent’s defense gets into position.

Fernandez, unguarded, takes the ball and pushes forward.

When the opponent’s defense approaches, he immediately passes the ball back to the approaching Lu Yang.

The Brescia midfielder approaches Lu Yang, and Lu Yang passes the ball back to Fernandez.

But Fernandez still has no opportunity, and he passes the ball back to Lu Yang again.
